- Live synth cover of this beautifully produced euro dance song. The pad and pluck are on the same part and played at the same time. This is done with -50 key follow on the pad supersaw oscillators and +50 key follow on the pluck square oscillator.
my all time favourite!!! "what is love", ...i think this was the true beginning of eurodance!! (for me for sure) you made a nice cover, love it ☺️👍
Youhouuuuu 🎉💖💖💖💖💖excellent 👌🏽 💝💝💝
What i just understood with jd-xi that how good so many synth songs are doable with it (due to 3 instruments inside and a multi-channel sequencer). Pianist is also cool👏👍🎹
Thanks! And agreed, you can do a lot with the JDXi.
I´m speechless. Congrats, brother!
Absolutely superb😱😉👍
That is the business . Awesome . Could you do a step by step tutorial. I cant even get to grips with the sequencer
Maestro! 🙌 Love all these old songs. Just got a second-hand JDXI the other day. Cool to see what can actually be played on it.
Good luck! Note I shared all my sounds as files for the JDXi in a community post here.
@@jeroenwijering Awesome. Thank you. Just downloaded it now.
Great job! One of my fave 90s songs.
GooooD 👍🏻,⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️
So so good
Very nice!
Great job. Seen alot of these from the uploader, but this one I knew too good by heart not to get a little frustrated with the timing errors on the key notes 😙
Thank you! And I'll try better on the timing next time 😉
Wow, good cover.
you got it, great song and very nice cover, i still struggle with the minikeys :) but it seems you are very good!
Thanks! But I usually need a few takes to play these songs mostly right 😂
Great
Ficou muito bom
I'm surprised at how close to the "lately bass" you got there, very impressive
Thanks! Despite its simplicity, the analog synth is quite versatile for basses. FM basses like this are possible, or future basses with the pulse, or drones with the sub osc. I use the compressor often to add pressure, or the flanger with feedback to 0 for chorus effects.
You. Are. Good.
I mean really really good.
Thank you for this.
How do you get the different sections of the song to play one after the other?
Don't own one of these, but had a Yamaha PSR-280 that had 6 banks that you could use to store different parts of your recording to. It lacked a sequencer, but I guess that's what this one has and allows the user to play parts one after the other just upon selection of the bank.
Indeed! The JDXi has 256 user patterns you can program. If you switch from one to the other during playback, the transition is seamless. I typically start with 1 pattern and then make copies for variations (bridge, intro, etc).
👍
Hey great cover and sounds awesome. At the beginning you use Oct-Strings, however you mention you use two filtered supersaws. Are you using two different sounds on the part? Also where do I find the negative and positive key-tracking? Thank you
Thanks! The Oct-Strings preset was the starting point for the sound. I dug into the Tone settings to modify it. In the Tone settings you will also find the key tracking, under the AMP umbrella.
The JD-Xi goes really deep in terms of sound settings. The parameter guide PDF available on the Roland website is really helpful for that (the user manual PDF is quite incomplete).
Another well chosen and well executed cover! Keep them coming.
Some of the technical details I would like to see a tutorial on. I know this stuff is easy for you, but for some of us ....
For instance, the way you have put in the bass line is very precise, did you do that in Real Time, Step Sequence, or TR-REC? Pretty basic for sure, but I just got my JD-Xi and it is all new to me.
Yeah maybe I can do a walk-through of new song creation. I typically record drums and sequences in TR mode and leads, pads, baselines in realtime mode. Timing is not an issue since the JDXi quantizes, so it is mostly a matter of whether you want fixed or loose velocity/gating.
Hello
How do you use split mode
On the jdxi?
On my jdxi i can t find it!
Great cover👍
No indeed, there is no formal split mode! However, the two digital parts each contain up to 3 oscillators, and you can set the keyboard tracking for them separately (as well as LFO and ADSR). So that enabled me to fade out the pad at the top half of the keyboard and the pluck at the bottom half. Let me know if you can't find it, as it does take some digging in the menu.

Thanks for your advices
I will watch this week-endg on the jdxi.
i ll keep you informed.
Thank you again for answering me👍😉
Hello
I still cannot find a solution of the informal split
Cordially
Are you OK loading sounds into the JD-Xi with a USB cable? If so I can share my backup of these songs so you can see how it works.
@@jeroenwijering
Yes that would be a very good idea that will allow me to see how it works.
Thanks

Does not sound the same
Definitely missed the lyrics, but you don't want to hear me sing them...
@@jeroenwijering LOL Good one. You did a great job.
