  • Check volume! The flange squeal was very loud!
Captured in this footage is an up narrow gauge grain train, bound for CBH Kwinana, headed by CBH 007 'Nanson' and CBH 005 'Kulyaling'.
Shortly afterwards, the last eastbound Indian Pacific of 2023 powers up the valley bound for Sydney, lead by NR81.
Some bonus drone footage of the amazing scenery of the valley of the Avon River is included at the end of the video.

Is that not an astounding number of passenger coaches to be pulled by a single engine?

The Avon Valley deviation was built when the standard gauge line came through. It relieved severe gradients over the Swan Range.
