- After just one season at Stanford University, NCAA champion Claire Curzan is transferring to the University of Virginia, where she’ll be eligible for the three-time defending champion Cavaliers next fall after an Olympic redshirt year.
I agree fully with the comment that freshman year can be tough for swimmers, for a number reasons. It’s a step forward that more athletes today feel open to change teams. I wish I’d had that freedom/wisdom 30 years ago at age 18 in a D1 team. Back then I struggled and felt I was to blame. Today I know I just wasn’t ready (too far from home + too much novelty at once), yet it took some time for me to discern what happened. Good food for thought for the younger swimmers. / Lastly, Claire Curzan will make the Olympic team…
Claire Curzan, like everyone else watched the Virginia swimmers dominate the women's NCAA's for the 3rd consecutive year. Todd is the Women's coach for the 2024 Olympic Team and if you want to be the best; train with the best every day. And in women's swimming UVA is the best place to succeed today !!
