“But I get shot down before I drop half my ordinance”. I feel personally attacked haha. I’ve been struggling hard on ECW. My first foray into PVP. I get shot down every time I fly. Been a struggle. Love the A-4 mod though. Great little jet.
For the 1st loadout I suggest you place the 2 Mk83's in the center and the rockeyes on the wing pylons. With your original combination after dropping the first 83 the jet gets really unbalanced and that might affect your next runs.
Yesterday I was taking off with 50% fuel, two small fuel bags, 6 bombs under centre, and two sidewinders. When I got a trip wire call, I dropped the bags. If I got a merge call I dropped the bombs and now with 50% fuel and 2 heaters I had best chance of defending myself. I still got gang banged by packs of hungry MiGs but hey I still had fun. PS love your tutorial series. Can you do a carrier landing tute please?
On the Flashpoint Levant server, I'll use 2 sidewinders and 2-4 Mk.5 HEAT rocket pods to complete armed recon missions. Substitute heavier bombs for CAS missions.
One of my favourite loadouts was the rockeyes on the centre station and a pair of shrikes. you can run them along a sam site such as SA-2 on a popup and knock out damn near anything, or lob the shrikes and cover your buddies. Plus you can still ditch the 6pack if you get jumped and still have a shot of completing your SAM attack if you manage to defend yourself.
I'm honestly not sure, but when I reached out to Enigma, that's what he told me. I'd assume because its a mod and not a module using the SDK, there might be some weird back-end interactions
I'm just starting in DCS and I am learning a lot about the A4 from your videos, thanks a lot! I have a question though, are there significand differences in the AIM9 P variants? I'm using the P5 just because it seems to be the most advanced of them, but it feels so hard to get a lock from it, I have to get within half a mile for it to change pitch, doesen't feel like something very useful in combat, at that distance I probably could just take them down with the guns. I did manage a few times to fire it from further away and it got a lock mid flight but it's very unreliable.
I watched this one A-10A keep taking off with just Sidewinders. That's it. Some people just can't be helped. They're gonna do whatever they're gonna do..

The "Bring all the bombs, and kill all the things" mentality is probably a single player "training scar".

It's all well and good taking lighter loadouts for less weight and drag but without defueling as well, you're only doing half a job.
Nah best loadout is to put 4 winders on and a hipeg gunpod and go bully some fishbeds

Are you placing the A-4E mod folder in your DCS install folder or in the Saved games? you need to do it in the Saved games
Place the mod in your savedgames folder not your dcs folder
