Hi William, thank you for the great work. I have a question regarding the script. Let's assume I want to use it to change the language of a file. For example, I have a legend with three categories: (good, very good, bad). If the translation is (bien, très bien, mauvais), the script will only translate 'good' and 'bad'. "Very good" will be translated as "very bien" unless manually skipped, which is impractical if we have 500 fields to translate. I wonder if it's possible to implement a regular expression to handle this situation more effectively?
The script is not a language translation tool so keep in mind the limitations. For simple word/phase swaps it may he helpful but really you should think about a tool build for the job. The problem is you need to find/change more than just whole words, rather whole phrases. The trouble is "very good" is a phrase not a single word. Try... /very good'/, "très bien" Also the order can be part of the problem. Make phrase changes first, so the word phases that may include any of the words are not triggered. Put this and other phrase find/change pairs before others.
Maybe you can try to make it more functional by adding the paragraph style and character style specified by the query after finding and replacing in the csv file, or all styles if the default is empty.
I'm doing a bit of window-shopping for scalable solutions for the NEXT time around haha. Thanks for the link, I'll share it! Another question, do you do ever integrate custom APIs into InDesign scripts/tools? Such as combing a user's outlook address book for dynamically adding Names/Job titles from a searchable menu? I'm just collecting bread crumbs at the moment. I'm doing a bit of window-shopping for scalable solutions for the NEXT time around haha. Thanks for the link!
@@stephendallas9709 Not really into that sort of thing. My focus is automating tasks InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop can do normally, only make doing it faster.
CHANGES SINCE VIDEO PRODUCTION: Version 2.5 update now find and/or change character and paragraph styles.
William you are generous... 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks.
Hi William, thanks for the script! One question... would it be possible to find/change for all open documents instead of all the docs in a folder?

Yes I plan that for a future upgrade.
New version 2.5 released today adds options to find and/or change character and paragraph styles.
Hi William Campbell , How to transferring layers between documents with same name photoshop,
I would be very grateful if you reply
For InDesign? Or for Photoshop? Do you mean copy layers from one Photoshop document to another?
Super script
Do you do custom scripts or learning events for companies?
Yes I create custom solutions. Learn more here: www.marspremedia.com/software/
