@@dutchkel haha yes, imagine the guy who cast the sauron that Adar killed be the original, it would quite destroy all the charisma sauron had from books and movies
great actor, the look behind his eyes as Annatar/Sauron in Season 2 of Rings of Power is truly unsettling but here he's just a chill, normal, friendly guy.
Vickers is a brilliant actor. He does so much with little micro-expressions, the shadow of a smirk or scowl. I'm enjoying the series very much (as a Tolkien fan since 1969.) And I'm especially enjoying his performance as a character who reminds me of Ted Bundy: charming and so evil.
I find him a hammy overactor. And he looks like every third Aussie knobend in a black hoodie that hits you up for a dollar on Russell Street. I think that really kills it for me. I keep expecting him to furtively look around and ask me if i’m “Jason” (iykyk)
@@creatrixZBD If Sauron can't be hammy, who can be? But I see a lot of subtlety in his facial expressions. I don't have a crush on him or his character; I'm old enough to be his grandmother. But I do enjoy what he brings to the character.
All season 1 I was thinking "is he or isn't he Sauron", although it seemed like obviously he is. Then on the season finale when Galadriel asked him, Vickers was really spot on with his acting... like, idk the words to put it, but it was like you could see the real Sauron come out in that scene. And on season 2 he is spot on - nothing like the "evil villains" in other movies, just doing his thing and quietly spreading evil everywhere... Seriously the perfect actor for this role.
I can't get enough of the scenes of Charlie Vickers as Sauron, honestly one of the best casting choices of this show period, especially when hes disguised in his Annatar form. Almost on the same line of hype as Peter Jackson picking Viggo for Aragorn❤️🤗. I can't wait to see more of him . Hes freaking killing it so far. Same with Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, both of them in those scenes so far, both killing it 💯🔥. So hyped for the last 2 episodes of season 2 🙌
Charlie Vickers is so amazing as Sauron. You can tell how much he loves playing him and he has done the research and homework to act like him. Charlie Vickers IS Sauron. Its wonderful!
You’d have to ask Tolkien, it was his idea, lol. Probably has to do with Lucifer appearing beautiful to trick people since he was Catholic. And the character is a manipulator and vain and he’s only stuck as an ugly spiky doomlord later because the gods took his “fair form” from him as punishment.
I could totally see him playing a character like Loki too. Manipulating, cunning and charming at same time. Of course, Tom Huddleston is one of my favorites and IS Loki but I can totally see Charlie as a variant!
The Vicker's depth of understanding of his character/s is just outstanding. I can listen to him describing the whole process of bringing Halbrand/Sauron to life all day long. How he is able to act both characters so different yet connected is just pure masterclass. I think the eyes, the microexpressions of his face it is where all the magic happens. Also with whoever he does the scene he is absolutely the focus of all the viewers attention, he owns the room, yet he is still acting in the environment and with others... I'm just absolitely amazed by his range.
I love the Annatar reveal! The effects & music are so amazing. It must be fun to get to play two "different" characters like Halbrand and Annatar. But I wonder if it's awkward to watch your own scenes like this lol. So excited for season 2!
I find it interesting when Sauron says "the power of the flesh" because that fits Tolkien's theme surrounding temptation. The idea is that no one is immune to the power of the flesh when it comes to being tempted by something. And Sauron uses the Ring to amplify that, which is why it corrupts everyone's hearts that own it or are in its presence. Even if they seek to use the Ring for good, it will make the person holding it do evil.
The thunder cracked me up when Halbrand starts his transition to Annatar. And the end of it when he is Jesus is the sky. I also cracked up. But it was all good. Numerous and delightful.
1:01 Irrelevant but if you look at Adar's sword; you can see the same bunch of swords when sons of Feanor swearing their oath. He might be one of Noldor.
