    I'm gonna be honest, I didn't expect Metrik to be this well versed and noisia-ish about sound design. I don't really like his tracks for the most part but this made me appreciate him and his music a gooood bit more! Thanks CMM

    This is why it’s so important to pitch match your drums if you’re doing it based on samples alone.
    All the stuff he goes into about harmonics is exactly what you’re doing when you pitch match your samples and cutaway some frequencies in the EQs.
    Excellent tutorial well done CM

I'll often do the same with bass and drums, but guitar is my main! maybe when I can afford a MIDI one, it'd be a solid investment :)

    Can be confusing when someone mentions adjusting a specific harmonic i.e. Metrik mentions the first harmonic is after the fundamental.. but quick google search comes up with ... "The lowest frequency produced by any particular instrument is known as the fundamental frequency. The fundamental frequency is also called the first harmonic of the instrument.".. So when he mentions the first harmonic, it's actually the second.

    Dealing with latency due to lack of delay compensation in Ableton is a nightmare. Although Ableton does compensate, it does so up to a point and after that you have to figure out what plugins are generating latency and then try to manually compensate like he did in the video. It's even more complicated when you have multiple channels routed to a bus, and the bus has a midi-synced effect like LFO Tool. I wish Ableton implemented Pro Tool's way of reporting how much compensation is being applied and when does it exceed the maximum and by how much.

    • @ninecrowns7092
      @ninecrowns7092 5 років тому

      Agreed. In Reaper I can seemingly add as many latent plugins as I want before LFOTool without it ever crapping out. In Ableton I just use the compressor sidechain to avoid the headaches.

    • @tommertens7431
      @tommertens7431 5 років тому

      @@ninecrowns7092 Bitwig too, no delay compensation problems at all, not with midi from another track, not with latency within a track. FL Studio is worse than Ableton when it comes to delay compensation, though.

      @ninecrowns7092 5 років тому

    Doesn't he 'sidechain' everything to the kick? I mean, he was talking about phase cancellations on the Sub when I'm pretty sure it's sidechained/ducked anyways..

      In dnb the sub isn't generally sidechained...
      It's the bed where everything lies.

    12:55 anyone know if there’s a feature like that for LFO-tool latency in Cubase? Cheers

      In 'Setup Window Layout' there is an option to select 'Channel Latencies' if that helps at all?
