I heard there was emotional cheating because the female MC was engaged or something? Is that true? i want to read it but don't like cheating of any kind.
i dnf’d book lovers at 50% for the same reasons you explained. there was too much focus on nora and her sister and i felt like there was very little tension and development with her and charlie that i wasn’t very invested in their romance. i’m currently 20% into the roughest draft and i’m really enjoying it!! i can already tell that there’s so much tension and angst between katarina and nathan and having the dual pov’s and hearing how nathan feels about katarina is just really doing it for me, i can’t wait to read more of it!
I only kept reading Book Lovers because I really enjoy Emily Henry’s stuff typically and I kept waiting for the story to pick up… sadly, it did not. I totally agree! I felt like Nora and Charlie were almost insta-lovey in a way and we didn’t have a satisfying push and pull between them imo
Girl, I JUST finished Part of Your World by your recommendation and you can't imagine how thankful I am you brought this book in my life!! It made me have a sense of purpose and belonging that romance books rarely elicit. And it featured one of my go to tropes younger man x older woman done to perfection. I can't thank you enough 🌷💗🎉
i loved book lovers (loved the female mc not having to be a sweet tiny no makeup girlie lol), and i have loved all of emily henry’s books! i’m excited for the roughest draft though the premise sounds so fun
Love this video idea, and would love to see more like it! Often what I look for are specific tropes, but like you’ve said, execution matters, and the tropes aren’t always done well!!
I have not mentioned this, but I am just in love with your hair. I know it has been this colour for awhile, but I keep thinking WOW every time I see it. When I re-paint mine, my hairdresser will be looking at your videos and hearing "I want something like this. Will it work on me? Please? xD" ALSO: Love this book idea. I need good romance recs. Always.
Haven’t read the roughest draft, but I found the devil you know by Elizabeth o’Roark really similar to book lovers in terms of like plot and character dynamics, but a little better as a romance
Damn I loved the banter & hate to love vibes in Book Lovers! Also the heroine is called Nora in that book haha. I also loved everything that you mention you didn't like lol but that's fine! I still do wanna check out The Roughest Draft
I actually liked Book Lovers quite a bit, but I didn’t really get super into it until the end when most of the tension from the conflict really came to an emotional head (him having to stay and her needing to leave). That being said, Book Lovers gave way more “small town” romance vibes than enemies to lovers, so I honestly feel like it’s being mis-marketed. I think your recommendation of Roughest Draft is a great alternative because that actually had the tension of enemies lovers that kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. Also, the writing duo dynamic there had much more compelling stakes that actually mattered to driving the plot forward.
I read A deal with the Devil by Elizabeth O'Roarke on your recommendation and I loved the whole series, I don't even know which one of the stories I loved most 🔥
We have such similar tastes. I bought part of your world due to you talking about how good it is! I enjoyed book lovers a lot so that must mean I should order The Roughest Draft on Prime Day💁🏻♀️ my husband is going to kill me😂
the ravenwood trilogy is one of my favorite romances of all time. i will say that credence has a completely different vibe but i do see some similarities. all of your picks are fantastic
I loved The Roughest Draft and thought it had much clearer enemies to lovers than Book Lovers! I definitely agree that Roughest Draft was better! I love this video idea!
This isn’t a romance selection, but A Forgery of Roses is really similar to An Enchantment of Ravens and even The Belles. The main magic in A Forgery of Roses is our MC who is a painter and has the ability to use her paintings to alter the appearances of people/animals however her power is seen as a bad thing (of course since it’s YA). The Belles has a similar magic system except their power is seen as good since they have a world in which people start turning grey and ugly. I ended up liking this magic system and writing style better. It also features a love triangle. An Enchantment of Ravens got hyped up but is a bit older now and follows a girl who is a painter who accidentally paints the emotions of a prince who isn’t supposed to be seen that way. This one features Fae and doesn’t have a love triangle but still really reminded me of A Forgery of Roses.
I completely agree about Credence. I overall really liked the book, I loved the vibe and the spiciness but I didn’t love who she ended up with in the end. I felt like it just didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I’ve been curious about Flock for a while so I guess I should finally read it lol
I kinda want to try and read Book Lovers and The Roughest Draft....at the _same_ time, now. (Like, alternating a chapter at a time, or something.) I've seen people who read them in the opposite order and ended up feeling basically the reversed way from how you do too. 😅 👀 Lolll
lol you also said the roughest draft was beach read but better 👀 I loved beach read, really liked book lovers, and loved the roughest draft… and I felt like they were all very different books 🤷🏼♀️
The whole premise of this video…SAME! I’ve been seeing so much of books that feel so damn samey and Oh My Life the different levels of Suck and Mehh have been crazy
If you want a better book than things we never got I HIGLY recommend Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashely. Grumpy X Shine (ML is not an ahole) ML sister lives will needing him to raise her kids if something happens to her and her husband (they die) and her husband lives sister the same will. They have to move in together, forced proximity. It was an amazing read!
You should try Revved to the Maxx by Melanie Moreland. It’s grumpy/sunshine mechanic, small town. The cover isn’t great, but I did enjoy the romance. It’s on KU.
'THIS is a better version of THAT': The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning is better than Blood and Ash, Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway was a better version of Marriage for One.
The Roughest Draft will end up in my top reads of this year. Book lovers unfortunately will not. I completely agree with you that The Roughest Draft did it so much better. I am so scared about picking up another Tessa Bailey book, as I didn't like 2 other books by this author I read. But, you love her so much, I am considering giving My Killer Vacation a chance, based on your love for her 😅🙈
I still haven’t read the 3rd book in the Flock series (it’s been over a year since I finished the second) I just wasn’t interested which is weird because the first two books were pretty good
oooh i dnf’d TSLD for every reason you said lol and am going to try to pick up Marriage for One asap after watching this. thank you for your service 🫡💗
The fact that you hated Things We Never Got Over SO MUCH that you just went “here are FOUR books that did it better” is sending meeeeee
hahah i just kept reading books and was like "wow are all of these just like that book but... better"
Jajajaja i like it do but i get what she ment
Roughest draft is such an underdog in this romance community. Superior angst. And so differently done.
This color is absolutely gorgeous on you!
The Roughest Draft is by far one of the best romances I’ve ever read 💖
Agree. The Roughest Draft is stellar!
Currently reading it I ve read 90 pages of it and please tell me there is no cheating in it
@@lyna7038 nope, no cheating :)
It’s on my TBR shelf, and you inspired me to want to read it next!
I heard there was emotional cheating because the female MC was engaged or something? Is that true? i want to read it but don't like cheating of any kind.

@@ilovemybabyblues i agree! i was hoping for more between them but sadly it didn’t deliver for me :/

I LOVE THAT COLOR ON YOU 💜🤍 thanks for the recs (:
Definitely hope there is[ or will-be] a part 2 like this! Videos like this are so much fun^--^
i love love love the roughest draft sm it’s crazy
The way I smiled when you mentioned Flock… one of the best trilogies I’ve ever read
I loved book lovers so I’m excited to start the roughest draft
Love this video idea, and would love to see more like it! Often what I look for are specific tropes, but like you’ve said, execution matters, and the tropes aren’t always done well!!
I feel like I think this every time I watch your videos, but you are so well spoke and eloquent! You always put your thoughts into words so well!
thank you! notes help haha
Marriage for one is one of my favourite audiobooks. I return and re-listen to it regularly too. Highly agree with that recommendation!
That color that you're wearing looks absolutely phenomenal on you!
Also, thanks for the book recs!
the roughest draft is so underrated but so amazing !
I feel like your channel really got me back into reading. Can’t wait to read these!!🎉😍 also your hair looks SO good!🙌🏼
thank you!!
Yes please to a part two! I’ve been adding books to my TBR 😍
I have not mentioned this, but I am just in love with your hair. I know it has been this colour for awhile, but I keep thinking WOW every time I see it. I love the concept of this video. Got lots of good recs.
Girlllll you look so good 🥰🙉
I picked up The Roughest Draft based on your recommendation. I truly enjoyed it. The tension between Kat and Nate was off the chart!!!
same i love it
Haven’t read the roughest draft, but I found the devil you know by Elizabeth o’Roark really similar to book lovers in terms of like plot and character dynamics, but a little better as a romance
It's not Naomi, it is Nora the main character in Book Lovers
What a great video idea! Would like more of this, and a video of your grovel book recommendations.
Between your beautiful hair color and that purple top, I'm getting Daphne vibes from Scooby doo!
I finished A deal with a devil and I loved it! The banter was suuuuupee cute aaaaah
Damn I loved the banter & hate to love vibes in Book Lovers! Also the heroine is called Nora in that book haha. I also loved everything that you mention you didn't like lol but that's fine! I still do wanna check out The Roughest Draft
oops!
PART TWOOOOO

Omg Credence is like my favourite book by Penelope Douglas, definitely going to read Flock now!
I love the hair
I loved this video! I especially needed some new romance recs
I read A deal with the Devil by Elizabeth O'Roarke on your recommendation and I loved the whole series, I don't even know which one of the stories I loved most 🔥
ah i'm so glad! and so jealous haha. i'm so so ready to read the next 2
I'm reading A deal with the devil and absolutely in loveeee! OMG is sooo good!
Omg, same. Now, I've read the available books in that series in about a weekand am about halfway through Parallel by same author.
ugh thank u for recommending the roughest draft it was so fucking good 😩
There is actually a cameo of The Marriage for One in TSLD.
You’ve convinced me to read marriage for one, even though I never wanted to read it before !!
it is so good
Yes please to part 2!
We have such similar tastes. I bought part of your world due to you talking about how good it is! I enjoyed book lovers a lot so that must mean I should order The Roughest Draft on Prime Day💁🏻♀️ my husband is going to kill me😂
I loved part of your world. and I'm going to pick up the rougest draft and all rhodes lead here soon
makeup is ON POINT 💯💯💯
thank ya!!

Lolll
Love this video concept! Can’t wait to check out Melanie Harlow and The Roughest Draft ❤️
hope you love them!!
lol you also said the roughest draft was beach read but better 👀
I loved beach read, really liked book lovers, and loved the roughest draft… and I felt like they were all very different books 🤷🏼♀️

I'm going to keep asking, the latest Chloé Liese. That book has all the feels 🤗🤗
You did not call Nora Naomi the whole time you were talking about Book Lovers 😂
i mean... she was forgettable are we surprised lmao
Finally someone else who did not like Things we never got over, could not finish that book ugh ✨
If you want a better book than things we never got I HIGLY recommend Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashely. Not me having Book Lovers AND Things we never got over on my TBR this week. 😬😬
hey maybe you'll love em!
Marriage for One sounds like a great read for me, I have mixed feelings with The Spanish love deception, i feel like it is over hyped.
Part 2 pls
Omg I hated Spanish love deception but LOVED marrige for one gahahah
'THIS is a better version of THAT': The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning is better than Blood and Ash, Six of Hearts by L.H. Cosway was a better version of Marriage for One.
I am SO GLAD someone brought up KMM. I freaking love her books and can’t wait for the new series she’s writing!
The Roughest Draft will end up in my top reads of this year. Book lovers unfortunately will not. I completely agree with you that The Roughest Draft did it so much better. Uhh, excuse me? Ariel is that you? 🧜🏻♀️😍
Flock sounds really good 👀
I’ve heard that the book Haven by Astra Rose has the same plot as the Credence….🧐🧐🧐
🔥🔥🔥
I still haven’t read the 3rd book in the Flock series (it’s been over a year since I finished the second) I just wasn’t interested which is weird because the first two books were pretty good
i feel the same tbh
One reason I don't like Emily Henry is because it's only from one point of view. I like opposite POV 🤪
oooh i dnf’d TSLD for every reason you said lol and am going to try to pick up Marriage for One asap after watching this. thank you for your service 🫡💗
