Just bought this game to play with my English students in Japan. Ironic that it is called Hanabi, but my elementary students are going to be able to practice the use of "You have ___" and some colors and numbers. Thanks to your video, I was able to fill in the gaps in my knowledge of the rules after reading the Japanese instructions that came with the game. You are right that Hanabi means fireworks in Japanese. 花火 flower + fire = fireworks
The rule book does NOT mention a FATAL MISTAKE. You can keep playing apparently even if you discard a 5 or the last yellow four for example. You just cannot complete that firework display. No other video describes this so-called fatal mistake. Otherwise, the demo was very helpful.
I was wondering why this game was hyped up because even after listening to the 4 minute rules, I still was confused. This gameplay was a great way to explain to me the hype. Now my issue is if people I play with can catch up 🥲
Best explanation of this game so far. Great great job

Super helpful to see it played, and just how easy it is to loose 😅
