I'm not even gonna buy it till months after release. Season 7 is what the game should have released as. Personally I made it from beta to season 1 only. Here it's pretty fun now. I just stopped playing FPS games because it's just depressing at this point😅
just dont pre-order anything. pre-orders existed when it was physical copies. youd pre-order a copy to secure yours on release in case the game sold out. thats the whole point of a pre-order. pre-ordering a digital copy makes no sense at all. i didnt pre-order physical copies back in the day because there was still the chance that it was poor, but at least it had a reason to exist in that, if you didnt and the game was super popular, like og MW2 for example, you could potentially be waiting days if not weeks for the opportunity to pick the game up. with the games industry how it is these days, and updates to games being much easier to distribute, devs have become lazy. back in the ps2 days, the game had to be perfect at launch as there was no way to fix it once copies of the game were being made
It already is permanently ruined. Just look at the player base of older games. They're higher than newer titles. I'm still playing BF4 because I don't wanna play 2042.
Yup they need to learn from this horrifying experience and go back to their roots. They should use BF3/4 as a template. It would be so easy to do! Screw the “live service” gimmick and take a page from Helldivers book and just release a great game at its core. THATS the winning strategy in the modern gaming sphere.
Bring back operations from BF1, made every battle feel bigger than just a simple videogame match. Very immersive and I actually didn't mind the story tidbits in the intro cinematics.
He’s gotta make a living. I don’t fault these guy for doing what the algo forces them too. But yeah they all do the same thing, lol. Meta gun, this game is closing down, this game was a hidden gem, etc. I imagine the content creators don’t love having to cater to the UA-cam algo also.
@@ryanjettonthey don’t have to cater to the algo. They can make good content and people with find it. Also Jack has a large enough base he could make whatever type of video he wants
@@thingonathinginathing I think that's exactly it. Almost ALL the long time game devs left within the first few months of Battlefiel V's release, so it was almost entirely Battlefield newbie devs working on 2042, and yeah they just followed industry trends and tried to make their own FN.
Really you just explained everything we loved in previous generations of Battlefield but fused into one. We lost so many small features that made a big deal. We even used to be able to make our own emblems as well. And what about Battle Commander, it would be fun to have that again.
Jack this franchise does NOT need a battle Royale mode, the current developers need to show they can recreate the core experience (conquest) correctly first.
They should remake Firestorm, but after the game is finished and been out for a while. Give people a chance to get used to the mechanics for several months, then drop it out of nowhere. For as much as they tried to copy COD, they really did do a 💩 job...
EA really just doesn't understand that standing out and offering a unique experience is the only way to survive in a super saturated gaming market, they see Warzone making a gazzilion dollars and the only lesson they can think is I want that. instead giving the creatives enough room to actually make something no one else is giving.
But free to play BR targeted at 8 year olds is what brings in the dollars for investors. What? You think they care about making good games anymore? That’s so 2015. 😂
Agreed. Battlefield already tried to do a battle royale mode with Firestorm and no one in the community wanted to play it. Doing another battle royale mode for the next entry would be a gigantic waste of money and resources. The focus should only be exclusively on franchise legacy game modes ONLY.
Never preordering a BF title again. Its so sad to see, that all big studios are releasing a unfinished product because of some investors. Im still praying to get a game compared to BF3/4 Great video Jack 🫡
I stuck with BF5 until the end. It was arguably the best game in the franchise if you played until the end. It had the best vehicle play by far and was so balanced.
I fully agree, battlefield IS CONQUEST. Focus on making the gunplay feel authentic and rewarding. Large maps great guns, easy voice chat with squad mates, assault class, recon class, engineer class and support class. Don’t ruin the formula, just better graphics and great maps and better Spatial Audio. I know the battlefield devs can do it!!

I'm a huge BF fan but I'm not optimistic because this stuff about building something special and focusing on the next experience was the same dosh they gave us when they said they would stop developing content for BF5...
Especially if the release is planned for 2025, that does not give developers a lot of time. I don't know of any triple A titles that are on a single year development cycle, actually not even indie titles either. Most triple A titles are no less than 3 years.
@@johnj8639 The games been in development for prob 2 years now. There is only a small team for 2042 the past 2 years. the rest are making the next game.
BFV wanted to build off of BF1 and seemingly go down a route similar to Portal has, but negative backlash seemed to get it killed. 2042 actually got portal started but they really didn't expand it enough.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. It really is this simple, they don't need to reinvent the wheel. BF4 was awesome, just splice in the new parts of BFV and you're onto a winner.
I don’t know which character in 2042 ended up dying with the bomb and the boat, but Battlefield 6 should be what happened if it was the other choice and just give me a sequel to 4 that’s NOT this….
they are soo good in writing stuff in a way, that leaves so much space for diffrent interpretations. class based doesnt mean they wont f..k it up. team tactics and explosive gameplay can mean anything and nothing
Team tactics means the game will have at least 1 player on each team. Explosive gameplay means the game will have 1 grenade on launch. Don't expect anything more than this
Battlefield 3 was an epic game changer, Battlefield 4 was an outstanding double down with improvements, Battlefield 1 was a new level of quality gameplay, Battlefield 5 was a step back but still Battlefield, Battlefield 2042 was the biggest departure from Battlefield form and took away everything I loved about Battlefield. WE NEED A RETURN TO FORM FOR BATTLEFIELD. Bring back completely destructive maps, bring back the push for realism, give us Battlefield like we knew and loved.
bf4 was literally the same game as bf3 but with the color correction turned down. you would only see a difference if you were console only and the jump from ps3/360 to ps4/one made it so you can finally play the full game. bf1 gameplay was lacking but it was way polished
BF5 was when it started to deviate. In fact, I'm gonna go ahead and say BF3 is when it started to deviate and regress. As I remember, in BF2, we had an active player based commander role that could authorize supply drops and artillery strikes and squads had 6 people in it. 3 and 4 didnt have that. I've noticed, every iteration of BF since BF2 has been removing features and we got to a point in 2042 where they removed the scoreboard. Wtf is happening? Bring back the commander role and make squads bigger ffs. Most people playing today will see that as innovative, lol.
Bf5 is really good gameplay wise, its the executives that call the big shots. If BF5 followed the more popular ww2 stories and didnt use dumb cosmetics the game would be on par with bf4
Yeah problem is 12 yo Kevins don't want this nowadays. They are looking for Fortnite copies. And EA is here to sell , not satisfy its fan base. Still I hope BF6 will be a love letter, for real.
I just hope they continue to work on the netcode. It's frustrating to run behind cover and be downed by another player who couldn't possibly have hit you from that angle.
Please Jack, be 100% truthful with us about the state of the next game when you inevitably get to do pre-release testing. I remember when 2042 came out, it felt like we had been duped thanks to pre-release creators not telling the full truth about 2042's condition.
Let me go watch some videos from that time before I like your comment. Because the builds that were played on were different from reality idk I’ll check them out
That's on YOU. Use your eyes. Also the beta. I played 20 minutes and it was the worst bf game ever made, bar none. And I loved hardline mind you (f everyone saying it's bad. It was awesome). Bf2042 launch was literally just the beta. 3/10, one of the worst games of the year
Jack & Westie know, month sand months in advance. non disclosure statement. Obv they don't listen to them but they still see it long b4 we even see leaks. I love it when they talk and speculate about leak pics, they know if its real or not, they would have already played it, so be the way of the world. :)
I love your list my man! Id summarize my hopes to modern setting with BFV gunplay and overall gameplay loop. BFV is always so mutch fun and i still play that and its has become the Battlefield game ive spent the most time in now and i played alot of BC2, BF3 and BF4. So for me i want a mix of BF4 and BFV to be honest. I will give the next game a try. Hopefully a beta to know. But i wont buy the mega edition like i did for 2042.. i did that because ive played all BF games and always had some fun in them.. 2042 i played for 4 hours and quit and havent touched it since release.. so next game i will just buy the base game if i buy it at all after the beta..
I think every person watching this video wanted you to continue with your suggestions. I think you were accurate and precise in everything you stated and no one was bored...at least I wasn't
Grand operations was actually an interesting concept, multiple maps linking together to form a narrative, and depending on how well uou did you got extra rewards the next round, it was just underbaked
Operations is what made bf1 the best game ever and they just failed to advance with it on bf5 and then I don’t mind the operations on 2043 but honestly the game is just not my cup of tea
Maybe we should start asking for a scoreboard now? With only 18 more months of 2042, could be cutting it close to get that feature implemented and added...
All of the things Jack listed as wanting to see in the next are on point and completely reasonable. There is no reason a big AAA game studio couldn't deliver on them. They should know what the fans want by now. If not, they should be hiring fans to help during the development process.
According to Shroud, they hired 40+ online streamers to help them in game development and they didn't even listened or implemented even one thing what these streamers suggested.
Mark my words, nothing has been learned. Game will be incomplete and bare bones, 2 years to overhaul and lazily stitch together features standard since 2000, 6 months of extra battle passes, End of Life, next Game revealed, repeat.
@@uzairminhas414 TBF, Streamers/influencers are probably some of the worse people to go to for actual good advice on how to improve your game. At least with Battlefield anyways. Shroud is a perfect example of this. I watched him react to that "Battlefailed 2042" video. I heard more than enough things leave his mouth to make me wish he'd just stay playing whatever hyper-competitive twitch-shooter is popular this month, and hope he's never in a position to actually influence this franchise. Also, I believe it was Lossy and/or JFJ that said most of these content creators whom DICE was consulting were basically just yes-men who never criticized any of the dumb decisions they were making.
Hearing Jack talk about all those legendary features from the previous games, made me realize how much I missed what made battlefield, battlefield. Heres to hoping they deliver on this vision and don't kill the series for good. 🙏
@@bobeversteen4341 Ik it sounds great, the dream battlefield everyone wants to play. but instead we get a games that keep missing the mark on what makes us enjoy them. who cares if 2 years after launch the game becomes decent I should be expecting that at a games launch
BF2 with all expansion maps (special forces etc), fully remastered with todays new features/movement and own our own servers with admin support to ban hackers with a map rotation, that would be amazing, BF2, the best battlefield imo. the maps, the armies, the music, the voiceover guy awarding u a new rank/medal/ribbon it felt good to earn stuff back then, everyone that played bf2, remembers the karkand map loading music and the random guy on ur team spotting enemy boats in the middle of the desert for no reason, great times
Yup this is a live service game. They want the success of bf3 and bf4 but those didnt have "seasons" whatever thats supposed to be but without a campaign. I played 2042 a few months ago when it was free. I was able to be on the top of the scoreboard just by using the drone to spot all the enemies all game. This type of game has no soul. I get a bigger thrill from playing rush on operation metro STILL than anything bf2042 has to offer.
@@cristopher8186 bf5 was a clusterfuck too. I’m sorry but Dice needs to realize we need more iconic locations in historical set games. That and the fat that they put the Kar and Thompson at max class rank was dumb.
They cancelled support for Battlefield V AND Battlefront 2 for this. Two games that were just starting to take off. The BF2 team even admitted they had content planned for another year or two.
Honestly it was gut wrenching as a huge Star Wars fan. The game was in a great spot and you kill it? Never made any sense seeing as the amount of battlefronts that see serious play are far less the battlefields. Battlefield still had 4 and 1 with a serious player base, but battlefront players only had the 2016 version which while not horrible is just not it for a lot of ppl. Unless u go back the 2005
The trouble is that their player bases were likely too low at that point to justify significant investment and *clearly* more resources were needed for 2042. What they need to do is release a game that's as polished as Battlefront 2 and BFV were by the end. If you have a bad launch it's a marketing disaster and impossible to recover from - even if you fix all the problems in the end. The issue is that the financial side of things demands that x game must be released is quarter 4 of some year regardless of whether it's ready. Great for shareholders, but it's short term thinking - effectively selling the brand's future reputation for cash right now.
I'm at the point. It's either Battlefield 2142, or BF3, BF4 feel, or I'm skipping the next BF game since those had so much awesome ideas and gameplay and classes. I miss those games.
The number 1 thing for me, is atmosphere. BF 3,4,5 all had moments where you were fully immersed and felt the pressure of a firefight situation. 2024 had none, not once did I feel I inserted into the warzone and in the shoes of a soldier.
BF1's atmosphere was pretty crazy imo. its one of the reasons why i loved it so much despite some issues. charging with your teammates only to get mortar striked in a trench and tanks rolling in was EPIC
The great tragedy is that a lot of what BFV did as a game was absolutely excellent, and it's overshadowed by the technical failings. A lot of people talk about BFV and 2042 the same way, but the truth is 2042 has nothing good under the hood, no unrealized potential, while BFV had a ton. BFV has moments that are more fun than 2142. At times, it is PEAK. They could've done it right if they'd taken more time and not made some very stupid, obvious decisions. 2042 was doomed... So the games are getting WORSE while they try to reel themselves in from failure. I expect no success from them under this kind of pressure, and I think it's safe to say the franchise is dead.
i miss bf4…even after the game was completed they were still adding maps (night operations, dragons pass, the jungle community operation map) they were even doing a night siege of shanghai
It's been that way ever since. The Euro division of DICE makes a lame eurostyle game (Europeans don't know why war is cool btw), and when they need to make the next mainline they give it to the American division and they actually care and know what cool is, so you get a lot of love from LA.
Definitely nerf sliding though. The fact that you could slide at full sprint speed and then immediately and seamlessly transition back into sprinting while not losing any speed was terrible.
Squad call ins were sooooo much fun to call in. They were almost necessary at times to try to make a successful push. Calling in smoke or an artillery barrage, and then just rushing in on the flag, finishing off anyone still there and capping it was such a great feeling, and so immersive.
Yeah lol I used to spam the spot button everytime when I see an enemy XD Rest in peace, BF2042, you were underrated... At least its not fully dead, like Gran Turismo Sport's shutdown in late January...
@@Epsilon2042 Still playing it, here. There's always something new going on and a special event for special gear. They're just dropping "official seasons", apparently, but they literally said they're going to keep the new content coming and continuing new events for new gear/weapons/etc.
But yeah, I like playing as Boris and calling in a Ranger (the dog) and dropping a Sentry gun and having me, a sentry gun and a robo dog just spotting and shooting at everything lol.
@@Epsilon2042 Right lol? Which I guess it won't be too long before it ends up like the others. I mean, as far as I know, BF 4 only runs on private/personal servers. You can see them in the server browser, but yeah, EA/Dice doesn't host servers for that game. I assume BF1 is the same. BF5 does have official servers, actually, though, right? Could have sworn it did last time I hopped in there.
The craziest thing to me till this day is. They could have just remastered or overhauled BF4 to modern graphics. Kept all the same weapons, attachments, and maps. Maybe made like one or two new game modes. Released that and had a massive player base.
I think bf4 + bfv's movement+gun mechanics would slap. Legit if it had a battle Royale it would go crazy. They really missed a big chance With firestorm
i was expecting BF2042 to morph into this kind of thing over time when they added the throwback maps, but it never happened. DICE needs to make battlefield more of a hub experience where you could access multiple eras and game modes.
@@hudster501 nah I don't think a hub would work. I think it would split the player base too much. They either go all out on a battle Royale next game or the series dies.
They literally just need to give us a Battlefield Entry. Not a battle royale, not over ambition, if they want to get experimental, then get experimental in the DLC's, but just give us a Battlefield with nicer graphics, a roster of guns, and a progression system that doesn't try too hard.
Everything you said was solid. BF5 and 2042 broke me as a fan. I was in the infantry for 6 years with a combat deployment. I grew up on all the Bad Companies, BF3 and BF4.
Battlefield 2 was one of my earliest and most cherished online gaming experiences. I played nightly with a dedicated squad and ever made a few great friends that I eventually met IRL. Both Bad Companies were fantastic as well and I even liked 2142. But there's definitely a light that has died in these games since BF1/Hardline. BFV and 2042 just kind of felt par for the course after those. I really hope they can get the cart back on the rails, but we'll just have to wait and see
@@silence_castor BFV certainly had its issues I dont deny that, but at least it had the quality of the game shown in its graphics which were amazing, detailed environments, gun animations, and the gameplay felt great and flowed well. BF2042 on the other hand...had none of these things, all on top of being a shlt game
It's quite sad that this game will probably not be remembered fondly. For BF 5, even though it had a rough launch, it was saved by the pacific update before they dropped support. For 2042, I don't think the community will ever miss it. The hype for this game before release was extraordinary though.

No more specialists, more destructible environment, dedicated servers, ability to type to the other team again (no more safe space, make the game feel more social and competitive again), balance of small and large maps, 5 man squads, spawn on squad leader only, could bring back the commander.
Was about to say this, crazy how I would rather play a game 13 years old than the new one. Somehow bf2042, after that many years of making battlefield games, is worse in every way to the likes of bf3, and bf4 it's just sad
@@thingonathinginathing that’s fair, especially at the beginning of 4. I played it a lot more after they added a lot of stuff like the BF3 maps and weapons. It is hard to beat the destruction in Bad Company, but I personally liked the amount in BF3 so that there was still the skeletons of the map left
Just a friendly reminder that they canceled development on battlefront and battlefield 5 for this masterpiece, this game was supposed to revive the battlefield community and was a “love letter to the fans”… they officially lost a loyal fan that’s been playing since battlefield 1942
what WE need, is a game that is fully finished, playable and ready for a DLC cycle 2 - 3 years dribbling DLC into a broken game, just to fix it and drop it, simply not good enough any more and the players need to preach this with their wallets. no more pre-order, zero cash until you show us a FINISHED , WORKING game thanks Jack, great video as always

BFV had my favorite mechanic in it: Squad Calling and Fortification. I really hope they made it in the next game, because thoses mechanics could drastically change the outcome of a fight.
BFV core gameplay and feeling is the best in the saga imo. If BF6 takes it from it and pushes it to the next level with a modern setting, the game would be like no other.
@@GuitarooMan93Totaly agree with you there! The movement was amazing (crouch running wow! That was cool) The gunplay was amazing too until they fuck it up, but they fixed it... kina! Feels great now! BFV was a great live service game in my opinion, not even comparable with BF2042.
Yeah and just like jack’s video showing BFV in 8k demonstrates how the graphics of the game looked very realistic too, compared to BF2042 which looks good but has a plastic feeling somehow. And yeah the fact you could crouch sprint was great. Really if they take the best of BFV, put it in a modern setting with next gen environment destruction, it would be a masterpiece imo. And about destruction, they recently added this statement about destruction on the Frostbite engine description: « NEXT LEVEL DESTRUCTION Massive and progressive damage on terrain, architecture and vehicles which even enables altering the flow of a map or level. » So hopefully we can expect some really cool feature for BF6. Just look at how crazy the destructions look in The Finals, so imagine what they could do in a Battlefield.. There is hope.
@@GuitarooMan93 Honestly I feel like most BF player went to play the final. Destruction/construction feel great! And yea BF2042 had the worst graphic especially on last gen. I play 2042 a lot. But I've gone back and am playing BFV again. Its awesome! Grand Operations was such a great mode. Made it feel way bigger! Love the music and narration. So much was right about this game. Calling in artillery, fortifications. Bring it back!
also bring the sound and visual design of battlefield 1 back! it still feels the most authentic and immersive experience I've ever had, and I keep coming back to it.
They nailed it with BF1 in that aspect. First time I played Operations I was blown away. I still remember me and boys going crazy in chat and on mics in Kaiserschlacht .Seeing that Behemoth coming down just recking everything still dope to watch.
Jack I think they should hire you. You want what’s best for the games. They can use you as a consultant and get you to helps design maps and play them before they come out. I think this should happen more in game development.
Hey Jack, you forgot to ask about bringing back the Easter eggs. I had so much fun with my mates in BF4 loading an empty server and going on a hunt for a rare gun or the best of the best, the invisibility cloak skin to keep the IR scope guys at bay!
A sad but inevitable news: Battlefield 2042 was a failure and was no longer profitable for EA. It's surprising it even made it to season 7 lol. Once again, EA is killing a game claiming to focus on the next title in the franchise. They said the same thing with BFV, and look what happened 💀. Just one thing: stay vigilant and don't fall for EA/DICE's promises in the future. Remember their "love letter" to fans. And one more thing: don't preorder the new BF under any circumstances. Wait for the game to launch and see if it's worth your investment. We had good and bad moments in 2042 (mostly bad), but that's it. Containerfield 2042 has come to an end. Well, what happened with BFV was a troubling start, slow fixes and eventually an amazing game still played by FAR more people than BF3 or BF4. The only sad part is that they stopped development before they gave us the Eastern Front.
First of all I'm a bf fanboi have been playing since bfbc2 and let me tell you 2042 is better than bf4 it only lacks good maps. But other than that the gunplay everything else is pure bf experience with 128 players and huge maps and I will preorder 😉

Best BF vid you've produced in a while, Jack. I agree with your thoughts but I would also included being able to build stuff like in BFV and needing to resupply tanks/planes etc. I would also like the ability to land planes as well.
@@blazinrounds230 I do play Warzone. Battlefield could maybe get back those thousands of players they lost if they brought back BR. Some of us like playing a competitive mode. Not some pointless multiplayer.
You nailed and I have BS in Game Design. As a player though, and a BF player who starter playing 1942 at 11 years old, the most important element the game lost was dedicated servers, operated by fans of the game so much they would subscribe to a really good game as a clan of dedicated players. (This also helped in the fight against hackers.)
It's a lot of features to roll into one game. Royal mode, 10maps at launch, 2 new maps with each dlc, along with more weapons, and an expanded portal mode. Like I'd love that, but I fear it'd all be under cooked in a rush to do all of that. The continued publishing of things live service style seems like a huge trouble point. Then again I enjoyed BF Hardline so maybe I'm looking at things too closely over objectively.
@@bobmazingThe problem isn't the amount of content, just look at how many studios are working on it...The game will die due to the lack of decent management, and the lack of experience in making sure everyone gets their time's worth, and their ideas aren't thrown into the bin.

I've always told my buddies that all they have to do is make a 2024/2025 version of BF4 (keeping all its features and character/weapon customization) and that's it. At this point, a "Battlefield 4 2.0" will be good.
Honestly a Cold War setting would be interesting in Battlefield considering most BF games are in very modern era. Imagine flying a MiG-29 or F-16 in-game!
@@jeyel4722 you have to think outside the box. They could do an alternate history game where the Cold War goes hot, on the Iron Curtain in particular. There's your European theater. They could also do the Soviet Afghan war, but make the US troops directly confront the Soviet forces. Likewise in the Iran-Iraq War, but maybe the USSR assists Iran as the US invades Iran, à la BF3. You did mention Korea & Vietnam - maybe make those conflicts go hot with the PLA. There's a Pacific theater. I'd call it 'Battlefield 1984'. It's meant to rhyme with the current conflicts of today, while also nodding to George Orwell's book. Special DLC for Central America & Cuba. Maybe a post-nuclear fallout survival mode.
also bring back the possibility to build stuff on the map like BF5. Sometimes I just went on BFV and was buildings things, relaxing and felt like I helped and shaped the map :)
I loved that and wish they would incentivize it even more and expand what can be build. It should make points harder to cap if they are hardened. I loved building walls in bfv but I think it should have been a more point rewarding task.
EA could make one hell of a comeback with three games, battlefront 3, Titanfall 3, battlefield. All games each with campaigns, coop modes, multiplayer modes and stunning visuals with heavy destruction and incredible animations with impactful gameplay and each game having the very least 10 seasons!! It's not impossible or difficult for them to do it's a matter of patience and passion.
That would be amazing, and if they actually pulled it off it would be a legendary redemption for such a hated company. Unfortunately, I doubt they're smart or competent enough to actually do it.
I have sunk so many hours into BF3, on release and for months to come. Played some BF4 (very late). Some BF5. Nothing really did it for me as well as BF3 did.
I don’t care what anyone says BF3 was peak battlefield. The guns and gun selection with the best maps and map packs to release. Each release added months of gameplay to the game with new modes vehicles and guns..
I 100% agree with the movement mechanics, I’d also love fortifications to make a comeback! I spent hours having fun on BFV just building stuff / digging trenches / making emplacements. Was so unique and a real shame it got removed for 2042
Yes Jack, you you nailed it. Battlefield needs to hire you for the next one. I built my first computer in 2000, played 1942 and it was marvelous. I moved Xbox in 2002 for Xbox live to play with friends. I built another new computer for 2042 at the worst possible time with GPU prices. I bought the most expensive versions of 2042. I knew the launch was going to be rough but even months into it you can insert the rant from National Lampoon‘s Christmas Vacation here. It was the biggest bag over the head punch in the face I’ve ever felt with a game developer. The developers need to listen to you. You have brought more value to EA than anyone they have working for them. They have to get this one, right.
Nothing extends the life of a game more than being able to MOD it, you touched on this but i remember BF 1942 and the fun i had loading all the different mods, i believe this is where DICE came from in the first place, don't just keep it in the modern era, allow modding to include any era, any genre. That was the most fun i had in any game, playing the Mods.
They don't aim at making good or long living games, there is no profit in that. They make cheap and quick products regularly, cutting off content and recycling as many assets they can. Sadly, as long as the people will keep buying any crap they make, there won't be any improvement
I was a Beta tester in Northern Strike, boy that was fun times. BF 2142 should have had another DLC but ea bought 🎲, and canned it.. The most loyal players was these BF 2142 players, they still play the game. With all maps ever made..
BF4 and BF1 dlc was always fun to look forward to! Each on having about 5 maps, lots of weapons, a new mode or 2, and a handful of new gatchets and vehicles!
Higher than 64 player counts are fine. It's the map size and gameplay design that needs to change to accommodate more players. 10 second squad respawns are not compatible with larger player counts in Battlefield.
I really think 80 players would be a good amount. I think they bit off way more than they could chew with 128 players. 80 players is a much smaller, safer increase that would still make a meaningful difference. I think that they proved that high player counts CAN work, the maps just have to be designed well enough. Exposure and the reworked Breakaway are perfect examples of that.
Keep in mind, the more devs on a project DOES NOT mean better quality. In fact, usually the opposite. It can slow process, t hings can be confusing or lost in translation. Don't get excited until DICE can prove they know how to release a good BF game again.
Games like Bf 2042 make me seriously question who TF is in charge at this studio. If they just made a modern day BF4 with crazy destruction and immersive squad based games, it would PRINT money for years. I wish every single game studio could take the microtransaction system from Helldivers 2 and copy it into their game. I feel like Helldivers got the premium currency grind compared to price for items perfect
Everything you suggested is fantastic. I want all of that. DICE need to get you on as a consultant, you say "I'm not a game dev..." no you're not, you are an avid, enthusiastic fan of the franchise which is exactly why you should be someone they're asking for help.
The only thing I would argue against is another Battle Royale within the game. It has never in the history of the franchise worked out well and just wastes resources and people on something the core battlefield playerbase doesnt really care for anyway. Instead focus on making the base multiplayers experience the best it can be and maybe open up other options in a different way
Well said Jack. I think it's safe to say the launch of bf2042 left most battlefield fans with ptsd. 90% of my friends returned the game. I played it for a while but didn't enjoy it. I have no expectations at all for the next bf game anymore but will keep my eyes on it regardless.
This could easily be fixed for Battlefield, all they have to do is implement a map making/creator mode for pub matches, this would give devs so much more time on updates because the community is building new maps for everyone to play. Imagine, we could have a D-Day landing map with BF1/BF5 graphics/atmosphere and someone else can create a modern setting. Makes sense to me.
"We listened to your feedback" = "We got slammed for releasing a half-baked game and spent valuable post-development time fixing bugs and undoing the terrible decisions we baked into the game that were almost impossible to dig out, which introduced more bugs" "We decided to look to the future" = "We're not going to waste any more time trying to give you the experience you want, so we're going to sit in a boardroom and come up with even newer features and playstyles that never should be implemented into a Battlefield game."
The prefect next BF for me would be : the atmosphere and fun from BF 1, gunplay, movements and tactical aspect from BF V, the bloated content from BF 3/BF 4, and a setting in the 70' or the 80'
Remember, no matter what the trailer looks like, don't pre-order!!

I didn’t buy 2042 until it was $10
just dont pre-order anything. pre-orders existed when it was physical copies. youd pre-order a copy to secure yours on release in case the game sold out. thats the whole point of a pre-order. pre-ordering a digital copy makes no sense at all. i didnt pre-order physical copies back in the day because there was still the chance that it was poor, but at least it had a reason to exist in that, if you didnt and the game was super popular, like og MW2 for example, you could potentially be waiting days if not weeks for the opportunity to pick the game up. with the games industry how it is these days, and updates to games being much easier to distribute, devs have become lazy. back in the ps2 days, the game had to be perfect at launch as there was no way to fix it once copies of the game were being made
This game launched without a scoreboard. A frickin' scoreboard. In a multiplayer FPS.

It launched barely working at all. Such a step backwards from BFV.

It already is permanently ruined. Just look at the player base of older games. They're higher than newer titles. I'm still playing BF4 because I don't wanna play 2042.
I thought 2024 was the final nail on the coffin.
Yup they need to learn from this horrifying experience and go back to their roots. They should use BF3/4 as a template. It would be so easy to do! Screw the “live service” gimmick and take a page from Helldivers book and just release a great game at its core. THATS the winning strategy in the modern gaming sphere.

Really you just explained everything we loved in previous generations of Battlefield but fused into one. We lost so many small features that made a big deal. We even used to be able to make our own emblems as well. And what about Battle Commander, it would be fun to have that again.
I liked the idea of commander and it was neat but i didnt like using another device just to play it.
@@zeroa69 Agreed. but say there is a dedicated commander mode, that synchronizes with current games that allow commander mode, to take control.
@@LordVader69420firestorm died almost immediately. No one played it. Same with whatever tarkov copy they made with 2042
Agreed. Battlefield already tried to do a battle royale mode with Firestorm and no one in the community wanted to play it. Doing another battle royale mode for the next entry would be a gigantic waste of money and resources. The focus should only be exclusively on franchise legacy game modes ONLY.

How about we don’t worry about a battle Royale at all? Focus on conquest, the game mode that battlefield is all about!
Without a battle royale, they can't conquer the cod.

they are soo good in writing stuff in a way, that leaves so much space for diffrent interpretations. class based doesnt mean they wont f..k it up. team tactics and explosive gameplay can mean anything and nothing
Team tactics means the game will have at least 1 player on each team.
Explosive gameplay means the game will have 1 grenade on launch.

Exactly my thoughts. I loved 3 and 1
bf4 was literally the same game as bf3 but with the color correction turned down. you would only see a difference if you were console only and the jump from ps3/360 to ps4/one made it so you can finally play the full game. bf1 gameplay was lacking but it was way polished
All of the things Jack listed as wanting to see in the next are on point and completely reasonable. There is no reason a big AAA game studio couldn't deliver on them. They should know what the fans want by now. If not, they should be hiring fans to help during the development process.
According to Shroud, they hired 40+ online streamers to help them in game development and they didn't even listened or implemented even one thing what these streamers suggested.

Never made any sense seeing as the amount of battlefronts that see serious play are far less the battlefields. Battlefield still had 4 and 1 with a serious player base, but battlefront players only had the 2016 version which while not horrible is just not it for a lot of ppl. Unless u go back the 2005
Agree. BFV was almost a first class multiplayer game, it just needed tweaks and polish.
Honestly, Battlefront 2 was perfect and everyone loved it. The comeback it made was mad. Still playing for a BF3

@@PROAmateur01Xbox is still playable, most days, as well. There's generally always a DLC server up and a vanilla one.
BATTLEFIELD DOES NOT NEED A BATTLE ROYALE MODE. Battlefield is something diffrent!
I hope they bring back the movement system from BFV, imo the best movement system of all the battefield games.
Yeah lol I used to spam the spot button everytime when I see an enemy XD
Rest in peace, BF2042, you were underrated...
@@JustAGuy85 Yeah I was relieaved when they said that, instead of the panic-inducing game shutdown I though was gonna happen...
Legit if it had a battle Royale it would go crazy.

i was expecting BF2042 to morph into this kind of thing over time when they added the throwback maps, but it never happened.

Same. Hey brother, never forget why the sky is blue

Yeah and just like jack’s video showing BFV in 8k demonstrates how the graphics of the game looked very realistic too, compared to BF2042 which looks good but has a plastic feeling somehow.
And yeah the fact you could crouch sprint was great.

I’m so glad you mentioned that damavand peak moment because I find myself thinking about that every time I play 2042 and I miss driving the humvee off
Nothing extends the life of a game more than being able to MOD it, you touched on this but i remember BF 1942 and the fun i had loading all the different mods, i believe this is where DICE came from in the first place, don't just keep it in the modern era, allow modding to include any era, any genre. That was the most fun i had in any game, playing the Mods.
They don't aim at making good or long living games, there is no profit in that. They make cheap and quick products regularly, cutting off content and recycling as many assets they can. Sadly, as long as the people will keep buying any crap they make, there won't be any improvement

Battlebits is proof that more then 120 people in bf3 fashion is excellent.
Wow these recommendations you proposed were speaking out of my heart Jack! Great Work, I REALLY hope the devs are listening to you.
Hell yeahh

The only thing I would argue against is another Battle Royale within the game. It has never in the history of the franchise worked out well and just wastes resources and people on something the core battlefield playerbase doesnt really care for anyway. Instead focus on making the base multiplayers experience the best it can be and maybe open up other options in a different way

For that to work BF has to have a good foundation. Noone will care about the content creator if the released game is a featureless broken mess
"We listened to your feedback" = "We got slammed for releasing a half-baked game and spent valuable post-development time fixing bugs and undoing the terrible decisions we baked into the game that were almost impossible to dig out, which introduced more bugs"
"We decided to look to the future" = "We're not going to waste any more time trying to give you the experience you want, so we're going to sit in a boardroom and come up with even newer features and playstyles that never should be implemented into a Battlefield game."
The prefect next BF for me would be : the atmosphere and fun from BF 1, gunplay, movements and tactical aspect from BF V, the bloated content from BF 3/BF 4, and a setting in the 70' or the 80'
