I watched this show years ago and never forgot it. Found again and… STERLING K BROWN????? STERLING K BROWN SAID “ASS BULIMIA” ON TV IN 2005!!!???? Anyways, here’s to 5 years “in” “recovery.” Love this show.
The 2000s were wild for sure but also I kind of interpret a lot of the show’s more egregious stuff, like this and the main character being so disgusting and weird (with women specifically I mean) as being kind of shock/outrage humour. I don’t think we as an audience are meant to agree with the characters. I know when I had a restrictive ED at it’s worst my view of weight in general and not just my own was impacted, so I kind of took it a bit that way too- usually when we say ‘fat’ we don’t mean actually fat people, but any visible curve or part of the body containing a normal amount of fat can be interpreted as ‘fat’ to us (depending completely on the individual’s ED vision). Anything that isn’t the ideal skinny feels like it’s basically kinda fat, if that makes sense? I really enjoy the show but the main character being just so gross made it hard to want to keep watching. At a certain point you just have to go ‘ugh, ew, 2000s’ and try not to think about it too hard
@@imaginarydrummer Their first seasons played back to back in a hour block, and after the first season FX re-upped with Sunny and cancelled Starved. FX only wanted one comedy show. I don't think the makers of either show were aware they were in competition.
