what an interesting camera angle; found that to be a great placement to put your in cabin video on the bottom left, makes it seem like your driving a go-cart. 9/10
9/10 for me too. maybe a hood cam (placed either inside the windshield or on top of the car) would be perfect with the angle/editing of the onboard footage.
as a owner of both those Elise and s2k I love both of my cars. I Howard's s2k is nice and he really knows how to drive the s2k. a s2k stock wont really do well against an Elise but its awesome on what just tires and a bit of aero can do with the s2k. now apply that to your Elise and watch what happens with that
Good driving. I'm impressed by how much quicker the Lotus is in the braking zone, and even on the straightaway. Would not have imagined that (straightline speed) to be the case!
These videos are great, making me want to venture out from the auto x I am use to. I think it would be interesting to hear a little conversation between you and the guys you run against after the runs.
Best thing you can do is imitate the s2000. Which you did. Awesome job. If you want to save some time, ask if there is a corner you can go flat out to any of the instructors. More info on the gps setup!
Where I live, you can get a ~2002 Elise and 2000-2003 S2000 for the same price, obviously daily driver so gonna be the S2000 but love seeing how they match up on a tight track like this. Thanks for adding the corner speeds, and lateral g's too!
Oh and the way you recover from a loose rear really shows you know more about what you're doing. Straightening the wheels and not just getting right off the gas, as well as not trying to immediately counter steer. Seen so many people lose it from the smallest slide by immediately trying to counter steer, then letting off the throttle completely and causing snap oversteer etc
It looks like there's a significant time lag (maybe a little over half a second?) in the accelerometer output. It also looks a little jumpy at times, so maybe the filter settings are a little off.
Hi, what do you think of the seating position? It appears that you have no where for your right leg. It seems crammed against the shift knob and it looks uncomfortable .
Good fun! A Helical LSD may not help so much, I have an S2K and they also will spin up when the inner wheel lifts a little so clutch based LSD is best. I prefer the ease of a strong helical LSD and not worrying about clutch packs and friction modifiers though.. have a 15' Z28 torsen in my LS2k so bit different to most.
What about the Torque to Weight ratio differences between the two cars? Sure the Honda might have slightly lower power to weight ratio, but it could overcome that with more torque to support its superior aerodynamic package.
Nice driving...at some part i felt u can improve by releasing the brake earlier and keep higher speed? Looks like u need wider tyre upgrade to keep up with s2000
I like S2000, miata, FRS/BRZ and this elise for buttonwillow. I like corvettes/mustangs for more open road courses. The C7 has been at the dealer for about a week now.. trying to get the transmission issues fixed under warranty.
I miss my 05 Elise. NOTHING could get out of a corner like that car. Where and what track is that? Unfortunately there are like 0 tracks like this in Florida
You mention that the S2K has the aero advantage a few times. I'm here to point out that the cars are probably about equal in the amount of downforce and drag that they make. The S2K has a lip, hardtop, and wing at low AOA. The Elise has a lip, hood vents, flat floor, duck tail, diffuser, and is known to make about 100lb of downforce at 100 mph. From the literature I have found; the CR spec S2K still makes a little lift, and that is with the lip, hardtop, and small GT wing. Buttonwillow is a pretty fast track, and HP matters a good deal here. Advantage S2K. The S2K also had 255 width tires. What did the Elise have? How much time did each driver have in their car, and how much exp. did each have at BW?
Colin Bowman a duck tail barley does anything. It just sort of says hi to the air as it does absolutely nothing. While a wing that’s over the roof of the car will be extremely more efficient
Colin Bowman then let’s not forget the s2000 comes with locking diff . Witch again is a huge advantage the car will feel more balanced everywhere with less understeer & allows u to actually put power down
Great video, when I was shopping for my s2000 one of the dealers had a lotus and I sat in it..it was so tight and I'm only 5"11. My leg was hitting the shifter too and I basically had to fall out of the car to get out haha
I'd say 6'5 is about the max to fit in an Elise, but only if you are slim. I'm about 5'9 and my Elise only comes up to my waist :D They are a lot smaller and lower than they appear on screen. If you have ever stood next to a Le Mans car they are about the same size as that.
@@ZentRose thanks dude! You're the only channel I actually look forward to content notifications from; keep the content coming! Especially about the Elise.
