NASA has an excellent website on the Solar System. You can find out there, for instance, that Ceres is about 950km in diameter, and would just barely squeeze through The Ring Gate.
Love It! Hope this gets updated with the future ships, stations, and objects from later in the series! Would love to see how some of those compare! ThanksAGAIN!
I've tried figuring up the math (or really trying to figure out the math needed to do the math) on what the inner area or even diameter would be on inside the slow zone. Got to figure, 1300 rings at this size all inside, I don't know the distance between each, but let's just say a 1 ring diameter from ring to ring. It would still be beyond huge. I really wish we were getting further seasons of The Expanse. I'm in the process of rereading the full series again since book 9 has came out (currently on book 7) and I really would have loved to see the Heart of the Tempest, The Eye of the Typhoon, The Vooce of the Whirlwind and The Gathering Storm. I know we got to see the platforms in season 6, but we didn't get a close up. One can only hope right! Great work on the vid. Maybe sometime when your free from game design you could throw a mock up here on UA-cam. Once again, one can only hope right!
The slow zone is a million kilometers across. That's comparable to the size of the sun, though somewhat smaller. So while you could just about fit Montana inside one of the rings, if you were standing on the ring station you probably couldn't see any ring at all.
Woah! I had no idea the Cant was bigger than Tycho Station! I figured it was somewhere around Scopuli size. It is really hard to conceptualise these sizes without them being next to the each other like this. 😅 Edit: so the books give slightly different measurements to the show, but not much. Tycho's habitat ring was 700m in diameter, the Cant was 750m long. And yet there were 15,000 people on Tycho and a crew of 55 on the Cant!! Wild.
Totally, everybody loves the look of the Morrigan class, but I don't think I would have understood that it was supposed to be smaller than the Roci unless I'd watched other videos. That's definitely the most important one to include if you make a new version of this video.
@@nadaibrahimovic4765 I always thought 475.5 meters was a bit short tbh considering how massive the hanger looked compared to the Tachi/Roci parked in it.
The models used in this video are not available for the public. Feel free to use them as reference and 3D model them yourself. I plan on making a video on how to make your own ship in blender.
I originally had Ceres in this video but it made the ring gate reveal less impactful so I took Ceres out. This is because Ceres is close to the size of the ring gate: ua-cam.com/video/j3q4i83DpME/v-deo.html

It's interesting how wide the rim of the ring is there, and how much material that should be (didn't do the math), but even if it is hollow, the ring definitely needs to have scavenged a measurable amount of mass from Venus given the rim is wider than the whole of Eros! (I think it's probably partly so that we can actually see a rim on it though).
Well Venus is about the same size as Earth whereas Eros is so tiny its gravity hasn’t even pulled it into a sphere, so Venus definitely had mass to lose!
They mentioned Proto Miller... That is just to close to the truth. Someone must have talked OR they've seen it before, and are faking reactions. My money is on option number 1..
Oh yeah, I remember being caught off guard when they said that. I'll have to go back and figure out the context. They have speculated before whether or not Miller and Julie were really dead though.
Ceres is almost the same size as the ring gate which made the ring gate reveal less impactful which is why I made this video instead: ua-cam.com/video/j3q4i83DpME/v-deo.html

Ah, yes. That banana for scale really cleared up a lot of things!
Should've been Holden's coffee cup :D
Man of culture
There's always scale in the banana stand
Damn, I never realized the Cant was so huge! Also, would love to see Ceres in there and some moons and planets maybe.

This one took a long time to make but I hope in the future to add more ships and stations 🤘
I never expected Thoth to be that large but in hindsight with the Roci maneuvering through its interior it it makes sense.
Nice assets! I thought the Barb was bigger than that, but that's what the scale is for!
Whoa, Roci drones are way bigger than I thought!

Jules-Pierre Mao really ballin' with that ship.
I realized recently that the Tynan is one half of an MCRN ship.
She's wearing "scavenged" armor plates and guns.
Remember the Cant!
The scale of The Expanse! Awesome!
I thought the pela would have been larger closer to the Soroco in size.

Oh no my favorite is missing - Morrigan class.
And now you’ve ruined it for me.

Hello Chris, is there a place I can find the 3d models you used in this video? Some are highly detailled like the belter ships.
The models used in this video are not available for the public. Feel free to use them as reference and 3D model them yourself. I plan on making a video on how to make your own ship in blender.
I recommend at least 2x speed.
lol love that they use holden instead of human
Holden is a human 🤪
Brilliant, thank you 👍
Wow so cool😍
Are the 3D models available for download?
Not for the public, sorry.
Saw the thumbnail. Not watched the vid. But anyway
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And at 2:50 …… it’s only the bloody Pella!!!
