    Excellent list, that Bare Exowear looks asome, my 3mm (also Bare) got stolen so I may replace it with one of those.
    I have a subject for your chanel: "Seasoned" divers dictating what not to use, like split fins, snorkel, compas, etc. When I got my first back plate and wing I got heavily criticized by an instructor/dive center owner, he told me I would be getting ride of it after a couple of dives. He was a wrong, I enjoyed so much my BP&W that I ended taking the GUE fundamentals 😁

      @CircleHScuba  5 місяців тому +1

      Haha, yeah that's a good topic for a video in general. I'm a little surprised they were against the BPW vs against a jacket style though!

    Bare apparently discontinued the exowear full suit. Do you have any issues wearing separates, jacket pulling up and letting water in, etc?

    • @CircleHScuba
      @CircleHScuba  5 місяців тому +2

      I’ve never seen the full suit, but I use the jacket and pants and never have issues. I love it

    This is quite a good timing as I was considering Matthias’ LUT packs! I went on two dive trips or 8 dives using Dive+ recommended in your previous videos and on the last trip there was simply too many good photos/videos to share that it maxed out the allowance on Dive+’s free tier. Will have a go on Matthias’ LUTs!
    I was also wondering what bags do dive pros/enthusiasts with their own dive gear use. I’m using just a 10-20L dry bag and i’ve yet to add fins and wetsuit to my arsenal (as shared in our previous interactions) and I can see those two items maxing out my dry bag, which doesn’t help my rep as a diver who carries a lot of things (or at least more than my seemingly aloof dive buddies) 😂😅 so I wonder what’s the setup with bringing dive gear while travelling (to airport) and the bag you use while going to the dive site? What’s the pros/cons of using dry bag vs a mesh bag? Sling or backpack carry? And how does that fit into your overall travel setup?

    • @CircleHScuba
      @CircleHScuba  5 місяців тому

      These are great questions, let me try to address top-down and let me know if I miss something haha.
      Matthias' LUTs are great. Definitely still require some tweaking but they get you very close and Dive+ just doesn't have as much flexibility that you need sometimes, so I really like the options personally of LUTs or a quick Dive+ correction if I just need to share quickly with a group member on the dive trip or some family that wants to see pics, haha. As for bags, I have a hard-sided Akona bag that I don't know if they make still. It's taller than an average suitcase and like a long hard-sided rectangle instead on 4 spinner roller wheels. I also use the Apeks carry-on I showed in the video here and linked in the description. I pack my reg(s) and computer(s) with any other sensitive stuff like camera stuff in my carry-on. I put my BC, fins, wetsuit/Bare Exowear (if I'm bringing them), clothes, booties in my hard-sided checked luggage (that Akona bag). I usually put one set of clothes in my carry-on on too in case baggage is lost or delayed.
      You're asking about pros and cons of a dry bag vs mesh bag, sling vs backack carry, and how do those all fit. I think for those you mean for the dive site or dive boat versus traveling, so I'll answer that, haha. For local dive sites, I actually use a milk crate that stores all my stuff. I got the idea for Divers Ready channel, and I plan to make a video on it some day too (and give credit of course). I put my reg, computer, booties, torch, etc. in there and then lay my BP&W on top and carry that to my local dive site's staging area. For boat diving, I bring a dry bag (in my $100 gift video I have my dry bag listed in the description and pinned comment), and that has my towel, spare batteries for cameras, phone, maybe a change of clothes. I also bring a mesh bag to the boat to get all my gear unloaded, and specifically a Stahlsack backpack-style mesh bag. It's more comfortable for me to carry the weight of the gear on a backpack style than a sling style. On dive trips, a lot of times we get a locker for the week so I bring the mesh bag to the dive shop, lock everything up every day, and leave the mesh bag there all week. Then on the final dive day, I pack it all up and bring it to my room to dry and then pack before travel.
      I think that covers everything? haha.

      Thanks for your informative, thoughtful and prompt responses as always! Yeah I saw James’ video too haha
      So if I’m getting this right, this would be your setup:
      Boat diving (regardless of local or travelling)
      - Dry bag for personal belongings, towel and clothes
      - Mesh bag or (milk crate if local) for carrying equipment
      Traveling
      - Akona bag for check in has your BC, fins, exposure protection, booties and personal clothes/belongings
      - Apeks for carry on has your regs, camera, spare clothes and other belongings
      After getting to your destination, you just fit your equipment in a stahlsack mesh bag to bring your equipment to the dive centre and store the equipment there. Also probably the dry bag to store your personal stuff
      That sounds about right? 😂
      How’s it like using a mesh bag? I’m always a bit skeptical about how durable the material would be, like would it also snag onto something and get cut through easily? Also if you don’t dry off your gear properly the residual water would pool or leak? But I suppose there’s a reason why they’d sell them and many people use them haha

      @CircleHScuba  5 місяців тому +1

      You got it!
      Mesh bags have never had an issues for me so far with coming apart or anything but I only use them basically on the boat trips. They’re made to let wet gear drip dry if needed without that water being stuck in the bag.

      I see, cool man thanks!
      Oh another alternate to the Bare Exowear would be Sharkskin’s chillproof series. They’re an australian brand and it’s more known to me based in Singapore. I might get one for a dive in Australia, just depends on whether i’m going in the late fall/early winter or not. They also have one with a hood, sorta like a jacket hoodie, but don’t think that’s very future proof to wear with a drysuit just a wetsuit would be good.

      The sharkskin stuff is also really good! My old shop used to carry it so I’m familiar, my current shop doesn’t though and I don’t own a set. Very good stuff though
