I have covid, so I couldn't do my normal extreme/hoarder cleaning this week. So instead, I decided to clean out my cluttered, dusty, and pet-hair-covered cabinets. At least this won't be a gross one. Ha!
Does anyone else love the sped up sounds of the clattering and such? I love it!!

I'm neurotypical (is that correct), but every dish is lined up the same way in my cabinet. 😂
A little hint for you... turn your pot and pan lids upside down so the handle goes down in the pot, and you can easily stack two, or maybe even three depending on your space. They stack nicely and stay together. Love your channel and am so glad I came across it!

That’s how my mom stacked pots and pans…as do I.
My oldest granddaughter is severely autistic. She doesn't speak but she does like to organize things. I help her mother clean since she runs after 3 autistic children. When I start cleaning, she is right there by my side. After a while I started putting her to doing little chores.
Her favorites are cleaning and organizing the cabinets, the closets, and drawers. Congrats to you finding a way to channel your energy.

No loud music, nor 5 minute intro or trying to sell something. I am not sure why it is so soothing to my soul to watch a guy just do what he does while recording it and then talk about it a bit, while tossing in some quirky humor. Just love your channel!! I do know part of the attraction is you are a normal guy in a normal house... very relatable.
I am 2'1" also. 😂 Visitors think the step stools for the grandbabies around my house are cute. They are for me!!!
I too must work, sick or not. I don't "get" people who can lay around all day. Once, I was out flat for a day and my husband freaked. I thought he might call in the National Guard! 😂

What kills me is that sometimes he doesn't use time-lapse, but looks like. On the opposite side, I guess I look slow mode.

If the inside of your cabinets are dark and hard to see into, painting the interiors a light color helps.
We moved into a 70’s house and the interior of the kitchen cabinets were super dark brown. I couldn’t tell where dirt or spills were. Painted all the interiors and it’s awesome!! Brighter and easier to see.
I did this last year as well with glossy white paint. What a stupendous difference it made! In being able to see every nook and cranny because it's so bright. Also, so much easier to see into the darkness of deep cabinets.
Hubs never remarks on things I upgrade around the house, but he praised this project and still sometimes mentions what brilliance it was to do.

My partner and I are just getting over almost two weeks of the plague. 🤢 I cleaned our house today. I understand what you mean about needing to do something! I couldn't take it anymore. Plus our house felt gross and germy. We washed all our clothes and bed linens, cleaned the bathrooms, did about three rounds of dishes. Even mopped the kitchen floor and cleaned the bathroom. I Lysol wipes the crap out of anything I could get in reach. 😆 Feels so much better going to bed now in clean sheets with clean pj's. ❤️ Loving your channel! Keep it up.

I recently cleaned out my mom's kitchen cabinets. There were spices that were 15 years old! Multiples of the more used spices. I threw away three grocery bags of spices away! It is nice to see other people have cabinets like mine!
Threw out ancient spices once then found EXACT duplicates for sale at an antique store.

Flu here too. Hubby had flu-A..I have it too. Although I didn’t get tested, and sick the next week, it’s what my husband has. Been 3 weeks for him and almost 2 weeks for me. Sleep is…interesting..I’m going to have some ripped abs from coughing by the time I’m over this lol. Get better! ❤

I have a huge problem I am in a wheelchair but I am a cleaning freak. Everything I can not reach my husband has to help me with but he HATES to clean. So i have to go 1 cabinet, drew a week. So not to overwhelm him or make him angry 🙄. So by the time we finish cleaning the house out. It's a new year and time to start again. I bet your wife loves you soooooo much.
I had every cabinet fitted with a pull out shelf. Not cheap but sure makes life easier…

This looks like my kitchen clear out when we moved. There were cabinets that I had only opened maybe 5 times in the 9 years we lived in our old house and the random things I found made me laugh. I had about twice the trash pile you did here but it felt SO GOOD knowing we weren't lugging all that junk from AZ to MN! Hope you get feeling better soon. Thank you for using us as guinea pigs. My husband is so much like you.. in a good way. He can not just sit. Even if he's sick. He's always organizing. We are both libras.. I'm the messy one @ 5ft 4...which most likely has to do with the way I was raised..., he's the organizing one @ 6ft 2... Bless his awesome soul. 🙂👍

your pan-lid situation is so funny to me personally cause my two favorite pans doesn't have a lid and i've been looking everywhere for someone to sell me Just A Lid, and i've gotten literally laughed at in certain stores, being told nobody would have extra pan lids on their own. that shot of all your orphaned lids on the floor broke my heart :'(

I got a universal glass lid which fits multiple pans, including frying pans. Also, a silicone spill stopper lid, and never use any of my fitting lids. Edit: you can get both from Amazon.
Have you ever checked out thrift stores? I have an addiction to scoring really high quality pots and pans and thriftstores or goodwill stores are often a goldmine for those (usually camouflaged by grime and scorched food which is awesome). On my excursions, one thing i noticed is there is always a relatively large shelf or box of orphaned lids. Betcha you could bring in yours and find them a mate! Wouldnt necessarily be of the same brand, but you would definitely find ones that fit!
Your comment is why I don’t hesitate to donate incomplete sets any more. I used to think no one would want something like an orphan lid, but I heard someone expressing a similar frustration and figured at least if I donate it there’s a chance it will work for someone out there vs going straight to the trash or recycle bin.
Try resale shops. Goodwill etc

I hate cleaning cabinets and closets. I finally cleaned out my closet recently, cause I got tired of being buried by the avalanche of crap that would fall out of the closet when I opened the door. Now I open the door just to admire the newly decluttered closet, (I also found a few things I had been looking for, for a while, win/win).

I think this was so satisfying to watch, I need to do this for my cabinets. Especially my desk room's cabinets. All the papers, folders etc. I don't even know what to begin with... 🥴
2 days before Thanksgiving I started cleaning cabinets that hold our can goods and the other one with boxed , package goods . Later in the day I cleaned out the spice cabinet. One day before Thanksgiving I cleaned silverware drawer and the cabinet underneath the coffee maker. After Thanksgiving I cleaned the pans, the bakeware cabinets, and dishes.
What he did in one day has taken me 5 days total.
Start by picking one little area (cabinet or a shelf in the cabinet), set a timer for 10 minutes, and go thru that area. Throw out things, put things aside that belong in a different room, organize what is left. If you are on a roll after 10 minutes, keep going..one little area at a time.
Just had to do this in the past 2 months, the main cast iron 4 in. drain pipe going all the way to the roof cracked and i had to tear the existing cupboards apart, as they were built in, to be able to replace the pipe. After i reinstalled new cupboards, i went through all the stuff i had accumulated over time. It is really surprising what you find

Frying pans with lids.. I invert the lid, that way, I can fit one on top of another! Same with pots, small pot (invert lid) inside of a larger pot with lid on normally.
I don't have nearly as much storage as you, though!!

The wires in the cabinets looks like a standard 'handyman/homeowner remodel' there's really no way to make it 100% right without time and money which is why it wasn't done correctly in the first place.
You can make it less crappy without breaking the bank.

I like the average person cleans better I think. More relatable. My husband is 6'2" and I'm 5'2" so I get it about reaching shelves :) I hope you feel better soon. But I'm guessing your wife was happy you got to your own cleaning instead of another :) I also like to keep my lids with the pans. It takes up more space but I don't really like nesting them inside each other due to scratching and heaviness when trying to get one out in the bottom or middle of the stack. I did get one of those tiered racks to hold frying pans and that saves so much space and makes it so easy to get them in and out. I have a lot of small and medium sized ones. but I think you can adjust them.

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon. Organizing kitchen cabinets is the worst job ever. I'd rather clean the toilet with my tongue lol. You know...."Life's Short. Lick the bowl." I moved to a new apt about 8 months ago. It has four kitchen cabinets. 4!!! So, instead of unpacking all my kitchen stuff, I just unpacked things as I needed them. Now I know what I actually use and don't use. The rest is going to charity. Hope I don't have regrets later, like, wish I hung onto that syndrome. We shall see. Get well soon!

For myself, I find having to turn half a dozen things around in order to find what I want really annoying. After I started facing items, it was much easier on my mood. I never thought about it until I saw an episode of Miss Marple where she was saved from being poisoned because she was in the habit of facing her toiletries; she knew immediately that someone had tampered with her face cream.

It was awesome watching you organizing and cleaning your cupboards. It feels so good when you are done. I just did the same thing recently and wiped them down. I'm a bit OCD and as I was watching I wanted to buy a couple of "10 minutes to dry" spray cans of white paint for the interior of your cupboards. That's me - "how to turn a one day project into a 2 day project." That's actually not true. It's more like turning a 1 day project into a week long project.

First of all I hope you’re feeling better. My husband can’t sit and rest either. Today he randomly started cleaning our pantry. There’s something comforting in knowing that so many of us have the same random cabinet where the “what is this” things end up. After finding moths in the back of our pantry, we bought sealed clear plastic containers for cereals, flour etc. cheap on Amazon and helps in organizing.
