The player that walked out onto the court was just stupid. She wasn't going to get involved but she forced the refs to react. However, ejecting the player who came out for three seconds to pull the first player back was idiotic. Did the refs think they were preventing a riot?

    • @Manolo0528
      @Manolo0528 Рік тому +60

NCAA Rules: Come off the bench & onto the floor is an automatic ejection. Refs not allowed any discretion on the matter. So the player coming onto the court to get involved & the player who went onto the court to stop her were both ejected as they should be under the rules. If the refs had a say in the matter than the one who came into the court to stop the 1st player probably wouldn’t have been ejected.

@@Manolo0528 They are the ones making the call. Of COURSE they have discretion. They chose to be f***heads. This is why everyone hates refs except other refs. Do you HONESTLY think the refs would have faced consequences for not ejecting the girl who pulled the other one back?

    • @Manolo0528

@@markp7262 Refs didn’t make the call because there was no call for the refs to make. It’s AUTOMATIC. So, no they had no discretion.
There are rules in a sport. Refs can’t arbitrarily change them. They can’t gather the coaches & players beforehand & say these are the rules we will enforce & these we won’t enforce. These rules we will enforce except under these circumstances & in those cases we won’t enforce them.

@@Manolo0528 Section 14, Article 1 of the 2022-2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Book:
A disqualifying foul is any flagrant misconduct by any player or bench personnel. --- (2) When it is a noncontact foul, the unacceptable conduct of the individual is JUDGED (my emphasis) to be persistent, extreme, vulgar, and/or abusive.
      (b) When bench personnel:
      (1) Leave the bench area when a fight may break out or has broken out. The head coach and any number of assistant coaches may leave the bench area in this case to prevent the situation from escalating.
I can see where only using (b)(1), you could interpret it as one step equals ejection. But I also look at the first paragraph of Article 1, which says that noncontact fouls can be judged to be persistent, etc. Reading that, I would say that simply placing a foot on the court to hold another player back is not persistent, extreme, vulgar, or abusive. Since the whole section refers to the judgment of the refs, then I read it as they have discretion. They could simply issue a technical for illegal substitution. Obviously, the one who was going out to get involved deserves the ejection. The one who just stood there is iffy, and I could see it going either way.

So yes, the rules are there for a reason. Leaving the bench during an altercation is an ejection. That said, what were the coaches doing and why didn't they try to keep their players from going onto the floor? As soon as #10 got out of her seat, one of the assistant coaches should have saw that and stopped her right then and there instead of having another one of their players do it and get herself ejected in the process. I get that sometimes players get caught in the moment, but the coaches have to know better and do better here.

It is easy for you to get on social media to have time to Monday morning quarterback a clip of a game to say what someone should do when you wasn’t the one facing it in real time..if you think the coach should do better why don’t you get your sanctimonious behind off social media and go apply for that coach job.

@@larryhinton991 Apologies for the late response as I'm only just seeing this now that I got an unrelated notification on this. It's a fairly common guideline across all major levels of basketball for teams to have one of the assistant coaches keep control of the bench area and make sure they're not in the way of play if the players get up to celebrate or otherwise respond emotionally to something happening on the floor. I only know this because I've been around the game for most of my life. I've been around the game for most of my life. Played AAU, student managed, had friends and brothers that played and coached high school/D1/professionally overseas, briefly covered basketball for a website, etc. but I say all that to say that I'm secure enough in my relationship with the game to not need to prove a point to a stranger over the Internet about handling an altercation.

Reasons: "Ghetto bball " proliferation of thuggery in women's game where, ahem, one particular race in our society comprising just 12 percent of the population , but who commit well over 50 percent of all violent crimes,
      A. are not being brought up by their cultures' adults to be responsible and to obey and to obide our society's wisely promulgated laws and rules.
      B. They refuse to police their own and raise them to be civilized good citizens .
      C. Far far too many of them are not being raised by even 1 biological parent, let alone a preferred 2 parents (read: a mother AND a father) and so , too often, they act out even as adults who are still not taught, until it's too late ,the necessary virtuous principle that such inappropriate behavior and
      " actions have consequences."
      D. Their current failed culture is the only truly systemic racism left ... the one that pervades current USA society is that of the current failed violent culture that brainwashes or otherwise still falsely teaches their own little children that other races are " the enemy " which is actually harmful to all in society . This is because its being carried out because of their own racism due to hateful hate and jealousy ...and so , as fake accusing " Jusses" , they lie by insisting they are victims and (pretend ) martyrs...and- just as shocking - is that their culture currently refuses to reign in their own and, even worse, too often falsely accuses innocent others of victimizing them . This evil lie and pathological sick behavior often has occurred whenever they are the ones who violently steal and riot or resort to other forms of physical violence against both THEIR OWN as well as other races when they don't get their own way or when they are caught breaking laws or simple rules of etiquette as they try to unfairly gain or win unjustly at the expense of those more deserving other people in our society who work hard, play by the rules, and or who comport themselves as both fair and just ,and as law abiding, good citizens who respect the person and property owned by innocent others . THERE! That about covers it , the truth.

The ND player was baiting the NW player, she could have easily raised her arm, and got a technical for it. Another ND player rushes in the middle of it to yell 'Relax" in the NW player's face, another baiting move. They trained them well at ND to instigate. They made a hard rule for an ejection about coming off the bench because of fights in basketball and apparently some of the girls knew on NW because they tried to stop #10 from walking out on the court. I personally think it's silly that a coach in football cannot control himself enough that he has to have another coach pull him back off the field.
