Got a half marathon PR in the Sen 8. These would have been considered max cushion shoes 7 years ago.

The mileage of my Sen 8 was 790km. Retired due to a hole in the pinkie area. Everything else was OK. Used mainly for speed and tempo workouts, two runs were 30km, not really suited for that but capable of it.

I have two pairs of the Sen 8. 100 miles on one and only 16 on the second pair. There was a great deal at Adidas, so I had to pick up another pair, since this is such a great tempo shoe. Mine are as good as new after 100 miles. LightStrike Pro seems to be one of the most durable high end foams out there. The Continental outsole is great as well. Longest run in these is 11 miles. I agree that it's better to use the AP3 for those longer efforts, but this shoe is so great at turning up the pace for shorter efforts. I haven't picked up the Sen 9, since it's so close to the 8. The Brooks Hyperion Max is on my watch list for when that goes on sale. I think I'd benefit from that extra stack and a little bit firmer ride. I also agree that the Speed 3 doesn't have quite the same pop as the older models. I prefer the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 to the Speed 3 and would choose that for longer miles, but I love lacing up the Sen 8 for hill reps, sprints, etc. I need to take that shoe for 5k race soon myself. Keep up the good work!

Just used the Takumi Sen 9 for the Mexico City marathon and it was great. Kept me at a 7:47 mile pace, with just a couple of minor blisters. Very happy with it. I wanted a little less stack height than the Adios Pro 2/3.

Takumi Sen8 260+KM so far, foam is starting to really feel perfect. It was never firm to begin with, but it was one of my more firm midsoles. Now it just feels like the perfect blend of cushion, bounce, responsiveness. While not begin restrictive like a full length carbon plated shoe. No outsole wear to mention. Not a fan of the upper, tore an eyelet the first time I laced them up, but if they produce a Takumi Sen with a Strung upper, I'd probably pick it up regardless.

I have the same issue (TS8). To be fair I don't exactly use them as Adidas intended them to be (5k/10k races). I use them on the track which is abrasive and when I am tired my gait is not the cleanest. I would be annoyed if I had paid full price, however I got 3x pairs at 50-60% discounts. After my current pair I have 2 more pairs to go through.

I have TS8 and it is mostly the same as TS9. These are my favorite shoes for fastest track workouts. I like them more than Adios Pro 3. I wish the outsole was better in the heel area using the same Continental Rubber as in forefoot. My gait is less clean when I get tired, and it has worn out faster in the heel area and I see yours is in better shape but still the wear is significant in that weaker rubber. But I have 3 pairs purchased at 50-60% discount so I am not so worried about the wear. If I had paid the full price, I would be annoyed.

In the currenr 5k training series I raced the first couple in Takumi SEN 8s and the more recrnt handful in Vaporflys.
Can honestly say no difference in performance between the two. Any small gains in time have been due to increased training load.

I’ve only got about 100k in my Takumi Sen 9s, but I’ve really struggled with comfort. I have wide feet and so went up half a size to fit, but I’ve found that I get enough rubbing on the top of my big toe and next toe from the end of the laces (where the upper is slightly thicker) that the top of my toes are bleeding after about >8k. Really annoying, since otherwise they seem to be really responsive and fast. But something to be aware for those of us with wider feet. Never had any similar issues with any other shoe.

I’m curious though…do you use the StreakFly for similar cases? I find it to be a fun shoe, but really soft for a “lower” stack racing tech option. It's too bad it doesn't have a decent upper on it..I have never liked the plastic uppers from the vaporfly thru the adidas shoes..fortunately I believe the strung type and the alphafly type are the future..those plastic uppers bring back unpleasant memories of using bread bags over my socks to keep them dry to play in the snow..I much prefer having my feet be wet from water as opposed to be soaking in sweat..a Takumi sen with a strung upper sounds like a good idea..

I've got over 1200 miles on my favourite shoes ( novablast mk1's) and I see my Adidas pro 3s are looking half done at just over 230 miles so won't be buying them again . I usually get at least 600+ miles . Even my cheap early model Skechers have done over 300 and definitely good for another 200 . You should say what pace you run when you say “it’s great for me in zone 2” or for “speed work in my 1/2 marathon training block”. It would be far more helpful to say something like “it feels great at 5:30 mile pace”. Everyone’s speed work and zones are different but running dynamics at a given pace are pretty consistent….so I suggest you say how shoes feel based on the pace you’re running.
