The one thing I like about these videos is the honesty of them, this video when he was putting the blower back in he forgot to tighten the blower wheel so he had to tighten it but recorded doing it showing mistakes happen. How many other repairman would show them making a mistake? They would just edit that part out because they want people to think they are perfect. That’s why I like his videos
Thanks
That’s why I like His channel so much he Does not whitewash what he does, it’s all real.
Agree, would have been funnier though if he didn't catch it and fired it up 🤣. Like that one time out of a hundred you forget to discharge the cap and it's loaded or your checking voltage to the the transformer and accidentally slip and hit the AHU wall🎆. Came across a unit that was shorted but somehow not kicking neither the disconnect or inside breaker. Lucky for me it was night and dark, I could see arcing on the case of the condenser.
Been waiting for you to remove that receiver and ball for a while. I’ve banged my shin on it a hundred times just watching you 😅
I know the feeling...usually after two trips to see a customer for the same thing it completely makes some sense to waive the trip fee and only charge them for installing the parts. That at least provides them with much consideration that the issue wasn't caught before and even though the cap/motor were reporting "normal" readings...they weren't putting out consistently. those dang filter manufacturers should figure out a better way to support the media in some of those single returns due to the high volume those blowers are moving. Either that or someone could stretch some wire across the backside of the filter frame to frame to keep it from collapsing.
Best part here is the service call found the problem even though the motor was "functioning" but not normally.
Looks like you could use a scratch awl in that tool pouch to align those screw holes.
and a small hammer too they sale them at harbor freight fit perfectly in the bag
While you’re there can you replace that dryer chord. Glad you took that hitch off I was getting tired of hitting my shins
I do apartment maintenance and I’ve been noticing myself humming to myself and when in run into an issue I started saying “Lovely”😂😂
I hope that’s a good thing
@@HVACGUY all good here, I just laugh and go about my day. Love the vids
@@michaelheraty2675that’s a new shirt saying right there.
Did you leave Ora age pliers on coils and outdoor back on after checking amps? Enjoyed
Curtis, you need to fabricate a stool for your trailer receiver.
Im not even a hvac guy but love learning and watching a master of their trade.
I was shouting at the screen: Tighten that squirrel cage fan bolt! And you did. Finally.
Love these videos, Curtis. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching!
boy that would have made one hell of a noise if it started with it loose. start spinning and walk over into the housing, screeeeeeech! 🤣 don't ask how I know!
0:33 - I must be watching enough of your videos, because even I recognize the home.
16:33 - AHEM! 😠 Spraying water near an open meter panel might not be the best idea! **wags finger in a scolding manner** If I wanted to watch someone risk electric shocks, I'd go watch Mehdi (ElectroBOOM) or some old videos from PhotonicIndution.
It's always a relief when an intermittent failure occurs when you're there... Hard to track down a problem if it disappears.
The TV and the music going simultaneously reminded me of why I hated going to parties with my friends. The music's on, they start talking, then they can't hear the music so they turn that up, but now they can't hear each other talking so they raise their voices, but then they can't hear the music anymore so that gets turned up, and then the music is loud enough so they now have to shout to be heard, which means in order for me to chat with anyone else there, I have to yell too... That's when I'd then go outside for some sanity. 😆
I had the same problem with an X13 motor once…unit frozen up the first two trips with the blower running….defrosted then everything checked out…third trip the blower was not running with the unit frozen up…regardless of how good of a technician you may be there are some problems that can’t be repaired unit the problem shows it’s head….unless you wanna be a part changer and just cost the customer money…I’m not that sort of a tech and can see that you aren’t either
It looked like that screw you removed from the capacitor hold down strap was too long and could have touched the fan!
Nothing you can do with an intermittent problem unless it happens when you're there
Well done Curtis under those Hot conditions, i have my fingers crossed for you 🤞 Au
The hitch on your van makes me cringe when you work on blower motors. You definitely hit that joker in this video, just kept on working like nothing happened. Hurt my shin just looking.
It doesn't take an HVAC person to tell you this... basing the decision on amps... that isn't right. If you have the equivalent HP output with fewer amps? That is a win. If they're running HVAC a lot... that might save them $10-15/month by dropping the amps that little bit. The HP is what it takes to turn that blower fan... and the RPM rating.
For your own sanity... you need a tripod or something else to mount the camera and lighting. You're struggling through so much to make these videos for us. I know my last comment sounds like a criticism, it is just feedback. But I do love watching your videos and appreciate what you're doing.
Nice use of the Milwaukee as a hammer :) 😀🤣
You’re Not Easily fooled. 😬👍
Curious are the fan motors outside and the evaporator fan inside the same? good video glad you caught a break with the death hum never fails
No they are not interchangeable
Love your videos thank you. I have a question 2.4 A on that blower motor. What’s the voltage on that motor is that a 120 V or 240 thank you
240
I wish you had closed caption in english my hearing is awful, some of your video's have CC available but don't work, maybe a wireless mic on your shirt.
Finally caught it in the act. Seemed ok but wasn't. Good find, and the motor you used was a closer match. Great job
Are we all just going to ignore the fact he smacked his shin on that tow hitch and didn't even miss a beat. 😧
It looked mighty hot at the back of your van. I'd have to rig up an awning to pull out like a window shade and hook on top of the van doors for shade. Also, I'd stick a seat in the trailer hitch hole. But, I'm only a geezer. Great videos!
Thanks
Way to stay on it Curtis! Most would not have gone back after the first call.
How do you handle multiple trips charge wise? I really enjoy the videos.
No labor charge on this one
"hey guys, this my X time back here". Love the business model, awesome job!
Thanks
As always thanks for the great views of your work, I still enjoy learning in my senior years!
My pleasure!
nice job Curtis! excellent find on an intermittent problem!
Thanks!
Those trailer hitches can be real knee nockers glad u found problem out helping friend with rental today hot as hadies got to keep hydrated sounds like ur needing a break getting light headed good 👍 job
Your van is amazingly clean and organized. My hero! Mone always looks like a bomb went off in the back
You have to adopt "a place for everything and everything in it's place" or you will be aggravated all the time and spend 75% of your time looking for what you want, and it gets worse as you get older. Believe me, I know, I'm 78. I still do all my own mechanical work myself.
Hating on pulling on wires to remove them from terminals, use your needle nose pliers directly on the terminal!! Terminals crimps are not rated for pull-off, only for passing current.
HVAC GUY, nice video keep up the amazing work
Thanks, will do!
That's a really good job,Curtis! Great video!
Thanks!
Hi from England 😊
Hello there!
What does “lead in” mean
Lead end. The end where the wires come out
Maybe you can put the studs you remove from the motor into the new motor box since it is garbage per se. I know you sweep out the back of your truck and running one of the studs over might not cause you a flat, but might cause a motorcycle a flat. Just in case one stud is moved onto your rear bumper step and falls onto the motorway. Hard find that bad motor great job Curtis.
What were those wires you taped up?
Other speed taps
Good job Curtis timed that one just right thanks for the video
You bet
Sheesh this is like the twelfth blower motor you’ve replaced this month man!
Hopefully all's well that ends well.
Excellent video Mr Curtis n have a good day
Hey did you get your meter from the closet. You locked it up!
Yes
Do you ever do a live torts of the capacitor while under load? I’ve done it a few times and I didn’t even know you could use til I saw it in a video last year. I did see a difference in reading but for the most part it’s the same microfarads reading as when it’s isolated.
That sure is a sweet van.
Thanks
I was wondering why the fan at the end of the shelf, left to the one you originally picked before changing your mind, seemed to be the right specs as a replacement, why didn't you pick that fan motor?
Love watching, it's so interesting, thanks for doing these videos.
Nice work Curtis.
Thanks!
When i worked on high voltage transforms we installed new capacitors on every unit
I think 6.75 is below the 5% variance, isn't it?
$10 part...replace it
need to restock 5,7.5,10’s
Just replaced mine about a week ago. It's a 70 / 7.5. Cost $42. @@Garth2011
@richardcardwell6266 For $42, it's likely made in USA 🇺🇸
@richardcardwell6266 That's a dual cap which is mo money. A single 10 mf oval is $10 all day long.
Great videos and work ethics. Honesty is a failing trait in this country. Always great to see your unedited videos. 👍
I've run into issues like that before and I think it took me 3 trips to find it. The air vents on the motor were plugged and I didn't have the motor on hand. Luckily the motor lasted til i got the new one after i cleaned the vents out
I hate to sound like a ninny but can you turn off the power next time you try and place that top medal cover, one slip and you have live 240 / 120 exposed.
What kind of channel locks do you use? I like that locking function on them.
Klein
@@HVACGUY Thank you.
look into the mars rescue motors looks like it might give you more options on a single motor and they work great only a few warranty ones
Great job!
Don’t use water near electrical Disconnect
Hi bro
What's up?
@@HVACGUY nothing much
I am surprised that you did not just replace the capacitor, just to check, since the motor spun freely. Had you done that then you could have done an amp draw on the motor to verify its condition. You possibly replaced a motor that did not need to be replaced causing the customer unnecessary excessive cost. The capacitor WAS out of range for sure. Proper range is 10% over and 5% under. That capacitor was 10% under. Can't give a thumbs up on this one. Just my opinion.
He did spin the blower wheel when he was in his truck and said that it was not spinning freely as it should.
@@Garth2011 Motor probably halfway-cooked the bearings, it seemed to spin a little more freely after it had been powered down for a bit. Might've gotten some time out of it with the new cap, but it would be borrowed time.
