Need encouragement this morning? I woke up to find myself in a very challenging, frightening place this morning. Oh sure . . . I've been able to hold the reality of it at a distance for a while, but this morning at 4:30 . . . WHAM!! It may take me weeks to recover from this emotional punch, because this great video hit me really, REALLY hard. It was 2020 and "Hyannis Sound", the phenomenal a cappella group from Cape Cod had to cancel all concerts because of Covid. To encourage themselves and others they virtually got together and made this inspired cover recording. Just why this video greeted me when I booted up the computer, I may never know . . . no . . . wait . . . I DO know!
Being a part of this incredible group of guys has had such a profound and lasting influence on who I am today. From the first time I saw them perform as junior in high school, to auditioning and being accepted, the memories of those incredible summers on the Cape, and the lasting friendships, weddings, reunion shows, and the incredible talent and resilience of the current group... truly a life-defining and soul-enriching experience. Thank you to everyone who has ever been a part of the magic and majesty of Hyannis Sound.
About a year ago, Joey Akl lost his brother Paulie and I lost my kid-brother, Jeremy to fatal overdoses in the same couple of days... the week before we were all to converge on Cape for Reunion Show 25. The fact that God surrounded me by over 100 of you guys at the 25th-anniversary show was like a safety net of love that caught me when I needed to just fall into the loving arms of Jesus. As I listen to the incredible tapestry of voices that lay down a message of hope, I'm reminded how uniquely linked we are under His sovereign and good hand. He used you all to catch my fall and remind me "it is well with my soul." It is so cool to watch this and see so many of your familiar, heartwarming faces - especially those who, over the years, have only managed to share the stage in spirit. Here we are, about half of the total Hyannis Sound population, held together by such a unique bond at such a unique time. Thank you, for the love. Thank you, Matt, for your incredible craft. Thank you, soloists for your incredible voices. God has a unique and distinct plan for each of you and I pray you each find it, pursue it, and accomplish it to His glory. Eph. 3:16-21. Much love, you guys. ATP
So so proud to be a member of this group. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the production of this and I can’t wait to meet all of you alums in person soon ❤️
Beautiful. This made me cry. For so many reasons at once. The pandemic, and so many people hurt by it. (All of us, in different ways.) Racial injustices, and so many people hurt by them. (All of us, truthfully.) Missing people who I love, while this virus is keeping us apart. Love. And loss. And hope. Finding ways to connect despite the challenges. ❤️ Thank you.
this is an amazing cover of this song, all of you have amazing voices, you guys help me with my voice and help me being more confident with my singing, keep up the good work!!!!
