  • Ground hunting for whitetail out of the Redneck haybale blind for the first time. I got this to be able to hunt with the kids, family and friends. My oldest son was not feeling well today so I went alone and it worked out. I am hunting with a Damon Howatt Mamba. My arrows are surewood shafts douglas fir with grizzly 200 grain glue on single bevels. This is a killer setup, I thought the shot was a bit high but I watched her cross the creek and flop down at about 50 yards. Thanks to God! I am glad my family was able to share this with me. If you have never shot a traditional bow I recommend it. Everyone loves shooting them because you get to see your arrow to target and when you are dialed in, its a great feeling to be able to look at a spot and hit it. Try it for yourself, I think you will enjoy the simplicity of a stick bow. My recommendation, if you would like to try it out is to attend a 3D shoot near you where Traditional archery clubs are (PBS, Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia, etc), there is sure to be a scheduled 3D shoot at least a few times a year. Make a point to attend and you will likely be able to buy a bow and learn from some great folks. Once you get the hang of it you will not want to go back to anything else. If I can help in some way let me know.
