  • Music by a Bobby Short stylin' singer, animation by Sally Cruikshank, and a song about a wild dinner party, all to teaach the concept of "next to." At the time, 1992, cellular phones were a great novelty.

love how back then using a cell phone was such a novelty it's worked it's way into this wacky song

Yeah, at that time cell phones were the size of small shoe boxes.

I particularly enjoy this one, since I feel it has the makings of a good story. I genuinely want to know more about these guests. How did the hostess come to know such influential people as "The Bowling Pin Heiress" and "Princess Von Toasterhead," and just who exactly is the mysterious stranger who stuck his nose in the soup?

Great stuff. I was too old for this when it was new, but have seen it with my daughter as we watch Sesame together. Wonderful animation. And, Sally, apparently you didn't write the lyrics but I can't help but think that the lyricist had William Burroughs in mind when he named someone "Dr. Delgado".
