Had the honor to shoot this clip (dir Sherman Halsey) w the late great Dale Earnhart in 97 I recall. A gentleman and a pleasure to work with late into the wee hours. He flew in from Indy and stayed much longer than planned just to make it right before flying back to Charlotte for an early apt. I was invited to dinner but didnt want to crowd. Wtf was I thinking? They did have too much fun shooting this! Thx again for ALL Dale!
I seen all three of them also was a fan off ol dale when he drive the wrangler car the greatest driver ever and brooks and Dunn seen them 7 times if you dint like b an d. You are not America bes duet ever. Sexy Bob
+WRB I did, too! I watched that race up until his son crossed the finish line. I heard there was an accident in turn 3 and turned it off, thinking, that happens all the time! Later, my daughter called me. I never watched NASCAR again. NASCAR had closed all the smaller, infamous tracks and gone so damned commercial. That was a part of it. But, losing Dale was it for me!!!
My wife at the time was watching CMT at the time this was new, I stopped and said "That's DALE SR!!" She said "NO, that's the other singer!" I said "NO, that's DALE EARNHART!!" She argued again...that went on until I gave up. This song got me into country, I was/am a Metal guy. I still remember watching the crash, I was at a coin show working my table in Buffalo, NY. looked like 100 other crashes I'd seen. I was driving home listening to the radio when the DJ broke in to a Rock song and told me that Dale had died. I had to pull over, I was sure it was a mistake, not Dale!! It was just another crash...got home, turned on ESPN and saw the awful truth, I guess that's what my Mom used to mean when she told me about hearing of JFK getting shot...but Dale? Shit!!
FUNERAL BILL II when someone dies who is that huge in the public eye, it is most certainly hard to believe, i’m too young for JFK I was only three, but princess Diana was another hard to believe one
Reminds me I was talking to a friend and he said did you hear about the NASCAR driver dying, I said Tony Stewert died? He goes no it was a different one. Like you said with Dale it just looked like a crash. I couldn't believe it was Dale that died.
it literally looked like a slew of other crashes there are 2-3 that come to memory before and a couple eerie ones since that looked literally identical where the driver walked away or was fine. rusty wallace and a few other of the old time drivers have even been in far far far worse crashes and came out okay or sometimes walked or limped away. dale sr was famous for refusing medical care and gritting through things and just walking away, he was also one of the old school who would climb out the window and wave to reassure fans even if he was actually hurt like hell, there were even a couple worse crashes in that very race if i recall correctly. that's why for over a decade conspiracy theories abounded, that he was possibly silenced bc of speaking out against the governing body which carried a metric ton of weight coming from him has he'd been the poster child of the sport for like 2 decades by this point, people just can't believe dale would die like that. the death that still affects me the most wasn't his though, but Davey Allison's.
Love brooks and Dunn and of course the intimidator #3. Gone but never forgotten. Heroes get remembered but legends never die!!!! R.I.P. forever Dale Earnhardt Sr. NASCAR will never be the same.
Nearly 26 years later and this song is still in my playlist and still top notch. Brooks & Dunn had a gift for making music that stand the test of time. As for The Late Great Mr. Dale Earnhardt, it’s always been a treat to see the playful mischievous side of him that this video shows. That big grin and that trademark mustache is everything. He is deeply missed. I think he would be so proud of The man, husband, and father Dale Jr. has become….Proud of The successful businesses he and his sister Kelly have built together and proud of The leadership role Junior has stepped into with the sport.
sounds very true I mean one song Hard Workin' Man perfectly fit Dale considering what all he had 2 do before he made his way into NASCAR it was why his documentary film tagline was behind the wheel he was a legend behind the legend he was one of us it's how Dale lived his life away from racing another everyday guy like anyone who never forgot where he came from.
Brooks & Dunn were Stratospheric and owned the whole decade of the 1990s in Country Music and broke into the Mainstream quite a bit. they had just released a huge new album when 9/11 attacks happened and suddenly for a while no one cared about music or every day stuff anymore for awhile and it lost them alot of momentum. they were actually originally forced together by their record label and ended up breaking up for awhile though apparently reformed recently. there is a new cmt storytellers clip of them performing neon moon around 30 years after it was originally released and they still sound as good now as they did in the early 90s when that came out originally. they have beat all the odds and are a legend in Country music. and they paved the way, the crossovers tim mcgraw and others have done since with other kinds of music and other stars and types of media wouldnt really be possible to make happen if Brooks & Dunn hadn't paved the way with Dale Earnhardt, Sr. this video was a huge coup, and you could tell they were having fun, this time period if i recall correctly kept Brooks & Dunn going for a while longer and kept them together and kept them from breaking up. and it was the popularity and fan support they obviously had that was showcased in this that gave them the leverage to record gems like my maria, the period peace south of santa fe, the mtv/vh1 worthy pop style music video for ain't nothing 'bout you, etcetera. they have a ridiculous number of hit songs, and deserve to have twice as many as they do.
Ronnie at the end is like WHO THE HECK IS WHO AHHHHHHHHHHH screw it but hey dale Made this vid the best song “raise hell, praise dale” tbh I’m just like dale
This video caused lots of arguments in the south during the 90’s. I am a Dale fan and spotted him, which led to arguing with parents til they finally watched it enough to see that it was actually dale. Diddnt have UA-cam to pull it up back then, had to wait for CMT to play video again lol. Back when cmt actually played music
Can you imagine the fun they had making this video? Dale had no experiance with a guitar! But he sure hsd fun. God bless his soul. We always miss him ,but we have this to remember him, plus the ending of the talledaga race!
yes me to! Thankyou Brooks And Dunn for having Dale Sr. in your video.Thankyou so much its nice to look back at the memory I will never forget.Love you guys and Dale Sr. My favorite!!
I looked up this video so I can see Dale Sr. having so much fun doing it...I miss him so much; NASCAR is nothing without the #3 going fast and turning left!

That's our Dale Sr! Wonderful video..a keeper for me. Jerry and Sugar Bear and I will always love Dale Earnhardt Sr and this video was perfect! Fantastic video of our fave Dale Earnhardt Sr with Brooks and Dunn..priceless. RIP sweet Dale.
Seeing Dale in this video was awesome. I also remember Brooks and Dunn trying their hand behind the wheel of some NASCAR race cars sometime during the 1990s, maybe around the same period this video was made. Kix Brooks turned in a 157 mph lap at (I believe) Charlotte. And Ronnie ran pretty fast too, somewhere in the 146 mph range if memory serves me. I can't remember if they got to test some cars as guests of a NASCAR team or whether it was one of those "NASCAR Experience" type driving schools, but it was pretty cool. I'm also pretty sure I remember them competing in some Legends races.
I just heard this song yesterday, for the first time as far as i know, and loved it. Just love the melody and the way they sing it. Just a really good fun song - a real toe tapper. Thanks for posting, and thanks Brooks and Dunn.

Come on Kix, if they make another Dale Sr. movie, you need to play him.

This is how country music should sound like in 2019
damn right.
Amazing how Dale Earnhardt looks like Kix Brooks in the video
right
Kix tells a story about a fan getting all excited because she thought Kix was Dale.
Dale's smile gives him away everytime
