Islamabad, Pakistan ➖When I first arrived in Islamabad, I met a jewellery man that gave me a free nose ring and bought me a cheese paratha. He was one of the most amazing people I've ever met.
I decided to go back and re-visit Amar and give a tour of his jewellery shop to repay the favour. After selecting a few pieces of jewellery that I liked the look of, I insisted that I paid for them. As I expected, Amar did not let me, in fact, he offered to go and eat some lunch together and get a drink.
I thought the kindness stopped there, but again, Amar's generosity was shown and he unexpectedly paid for my Uber to my next destination.

Pakistani treat foreigners as guests(unless you are living here). Expecting/Making your guest to pay is very offensive and disrespectful. Even defrauding them i.e charging them extra would have your business run over by other pakistani people.

I am from Peshawar and when I was young, there were lots of refugees in our neighborhood from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. They were some of the most hospitable people I had ever met, even though they were poor and could not afford 3 meals a day but for the guest they would bring all sorts of food. Very nice people.

I just saw this video (10 months after it was released). I just want to say that Amar is a amazing person, how he took care of you and provided you the best of best hospitality brought tears to my eyes. I was born in Pakistan but I live in Canada. If I ever get a chance to go visit Pakistan again, I’m surely going to go meet Amar and thank him in person for his amazing characteristics. We all need to learn from Amar.
