G.Skill WigiDash Review - a sensor panel with POTENTIAL!

- PC enthusiasts have been adding sensor panels to their builds for quite some time now, and we’ve even seen case manufacturers including them in their chassis. But the Wigidash from G.Skill aims to simplify things by providing power and display over a single USB cable to the 7” IPS display. The Wigidash is also aiming to be more than a sensor panel, though, and it’s actually marketed as a ‘PC Command Panel’. So can this new gadget deliver the same functionality as an Elgato Stream Deck? looks really good mat. i like their memory, interesting to see them expanding out into other gadgets and things
Good to see mat doing more outside peripherals lately
Great little review, very impressive, good job Mat, I hope you get to do more hardware testing and reviews 🙏👍
Thanks Andy, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
I love your reviews!!
That’s a great looking sensor panel. Going to see if I can find one now locally.
Great video 👍🏻
Smaller bezels, good resolution ips panel, software based on hwinfo which only slightly loads only the CPU, nice layout skins maybe animated (something like in displays in HYTE Y60/Y70 builds) and they have business. I'm surprised that brands like Corsair, Hyte, Asus etc don't take up this type of product
Wasnt expecting this from gskill. That’s quite cool
Great review, mate!
Glad you enjoyed it!
After sales support for this is going to be key. Does it all work through a common API or is it some bespoke software?
Think this is one of those things that you have on your desk that just looks really cool. Not sure how much utility it will actually provide though.
That’s a nice change of direction for gskill
Interesting coming from gskill usually this kind of thing comes from elgato.
Hi Mat. Like my PC gamer desk wasn't a cluttered-up mess now.
So G.skill has time to make this but they cant make thr Royal Line for the DDR5 kits?
I’ll give it a shot for the Aida integration, but I’m leery of the poor progression on the functionality from launch.
This is such a cool idea. Nice implementation too. How much are they going for?
130 usd
Good Review thanks Mat. Is there A Way to put this Inside my Case, or will It Have to go on My Desk?
Thanks! You can remove the stand, so in theory you could put it inside a case, but it's been designed to be a desktop device for sure.
I think you could easily get it inside a case depending on the chassis size etc. would take a bit of work I guess in some instances.
I’ve ordered one. It’s not a fortune for something to play with. Ideal for what I’d need beside my keyboard
Enjoy!
Ive been using this for 2 months now with an Aida64 custom skin. Simple, easy, and its great the it only uses a usb cable freeing up the gpu usage.
The only issue ive run into is the brightness tends to dim sometimes after startup regardless the brightness settings. Just re-entering the setting fixes it.
A firmware update might fix that.
not sure I’d have a use for this but it’s pretty well done. Is it only on Amazon ?
No. It's available at multiple places 👍🏻
Thanks
Great idea cant wait for a case manufacturer to incorporate one of these directly in a case.
For sure thats something that's going to happen. Some case manufacturers are already doing this.
Hyte Y70 already does that.
You better off just getting something like this off of AliExpress for like 30$ though, case manufacturers are going to use it as an excuse to charge 80+$ and force you to use their stinking software.
Would he could if they did a case mount for a side windowed case panel
good review mat, thats not an easy thing to review IMO
Thanks, glad you liked it :)
I’m going to pick one of these up for my new build next month
The first thing when I see that name is someone got letters mixed up and it's supposed to be DigiWash for a washing mashine.
😂
how many apps are being planned for it do you know ?
I'm not sure sorry - Mat
Wow thanks for quick reply. It looks good but I’d be concerned about it being ditched quickly by the company. It’s not their usual thing. Could you ask them ?
Yeah I’d like to know their plans with this if you could find out. Anything at all would be useful mat. Thanks
Yeah it’s great but you know elgato will back theirs up with Corsair behind them. This could end up a paperweight in a year. I’m surprised gskill didn’t come out with a statement saying. Xxx apps in xxx period of time
It's great for playing five nights at Freddy's, but in real life 😂
I hope they don’t abandon it. That’s my issue. Corsair and elgato won’t.
This is the big thing. If they develop the software it could grow to become an amazing product.
That concerns me too. This is only as good as the support it gets software side. Otherwise its just a display.
Really good article guys. Seems like gskill have nailed this one.
The fact it's just USB for power and display and runs AIDA64 presets while sporting a decent touch screen display that I didn't have to buy a case for and doesn't run at 1000c? It ain't perfect, but dang it's a wonderful sensor panel!
Yes, I could buy a Pi screen for $20-$30USD less...but by the time I deal with additional cables and a decent case for it, nevermind screen quality and longevity, this is a good buy. If you demand high polling rates for a sensor panel, this isn't for you. And yer kinda weird.
That's essentially what's sensor panel... I just don't get it why ppl call dash panel just every small monitor... It's not the same... Sensor panel needs to get only serial data from sensors and generate everything itself with it's own logic... I am almost about to explode when I see stupidest info being passed around just to ride on trends...
