      @@DuckSau2e I would recommend this warm up 100%. I was surprised and amazed at how prepared I felt to bench. Having a pumped upper back gives you that much more of a stable base to press off of. My numbers went up too which proves Matt knows exactly what he's talking about.

      @@DuckSau2e Basically. I did 4sets of light lat pulldowns (around 30-35lbs) for 25 reps super set with tricep pushdowns using the same lat pulldown machine (15 lbs) for 25 reps and used a 10 lb dumbbell for 25 reps of standing shoulder press (one arm at a time). Repeat those 3 exercises back to back for 4 sets and you're plenty warmed up. I then only did 2 light warm ups on flat bench (95lbs x 8, 115 x 8). I'm not much of a bencher but I was able to go from just one set of 225 for barely 2 reps to 4 sets of 3.

    Please elaborate on triceps being the primary mover in the bench press. The pecs are big kick ass muscles that are primarily fast twitch but of course triceps lock out the weight. Longer-armed people have to rely on delts and pecs more. Although, I think triceps are typically involved far more in pressing than biceps are in pulling.

    So could you do this circuit before every single workout? What if you did more of a bodybuilding routine and hit upper body multiple times a week. Would it be realistic to do these movements three times a week? Would there be a concern of overuse in terms of working back, tris and chest that many times. I understand it’s a warm up but there is still fatigue involved here. Seriously asking.

  • @MeliorIlle
    @MeliorIlle 5 років тому +3

    This warm up has been fantastic for me Matt, thank you so much. DO you have a video similar for lower body? If not would it just be leg press, curls, and a hip warming exercise for 4x25?

    If you were to be doing say squat/bench in one day would you do both warm ups back to back or do lower body warm up then squat then do upper warm up then bench? Or both one after the other then continue with your squat/bench like normal

    Ok I get the concept I think. So instead of warming up on a treadmill before weights, I warm up for 15mins doing these 3 exercises? But what if these are my main exercises when I weight lift?
    In other words i typically work on lat pull downs, triceps, biceps, shoulders, benching, and legs.
    I can’t squat or deadlift due to 3 herniated disc.
    So would I warm up with these with Light weights if I plan to do them after with heavier weights for my actual workout?
    Also, what weight should I use for the warm ups? 10lbs or 20? He doesn’t say
