    These types of warm-ups have been a game changer for myself and my clients.
    My two favorites choices:
    Upper Body Day
    Pushup Variation x25
    Band Pushdown x25
    Band Pulldown x25
    Lower Body Day
    BW 45 Degree Back Extension x25
    BW Box Squat x25
    Light Reverse Hyper x25

    I added Wenning Warm-ups about six months ago, initially adding two cycles, waiting for my main lifts to go back up and then six weeks ago adding a third cycle. All but my bench have gone up and my bench is back on its way. Fitness and recovery have all improved and I feel less injury prone as a 45 year old lifter.

  • @AgeBetterDotCom

    Excellent tip from Matt. With Wenning Warmups, you can kind of "sneak" a lot of volume into your program that puts more muscle on you, and addresses weaknesses. I do the band leg curls as warmups and my 30 year history of hamstring cramps came to an end, at age 65 !!! Thanks Matt!!!

      @@DuckSau2e Basically. I did 4sets of light lat pulldowns (around 30-35lbs) for 25 reps super set with tricep pushdowns using the same lat pulldown machine (15 lbs) for 25 reps and used a 10 lb dumbbell for 25 reps of standing shoulder press (one arm at a time). Repeat those 3 exercises back to back for 4 sets and you're plenty warmed up. I then only did 2 light warm ups on flat bench (95lbs x 8, 115 x 8). I'm not much of a bencher but I was able to go from just one set of 225 for barely 2 reps to 4 sets of 3.

    Please elaborate on triceps being the primary mover in the bench press. The pecs are big kick ass muscles that are primarily fast twitch but of course triceps lock out the weight. Longer-armed people have to rely on delts and pecs more. Although, I think triceps are typically involved far more in pressing than biceps are in pulling.

    What kind of weight would we be looking at using for these exercises? Should those 25 be easy or would we be aiming for only having a few reps left in the tank?

    • @IwanRahabok
      @IwanRahabok 5 років тому +1

      Because it's a warm up, I reckon we need lots of reps left. Else how to bench after that?

    • @jonduke4748
      @jonduke4748 4 роки тому +1

      I'm pretty sure the whole point is to pump up, so the weight shouldn't matter and likely won't need to increase much as you get stronger.

    So could you do this circuit before every single workout? What if you did more of a bodybuilding routine and hit upper body multiple times a week. Would it be realistic to do these movements three times a week? Would there be a concern of overuse in terms of working back, tris and chest that many times. I understand it’s a warm up but there is still fatigue involved here. Seriously asking.

    its truth but in equipment powerlfting , as u said u need big tricep to bench more of course but in costume in raw u need mainly develop pec and shoudlers , tricpes is responibility for lockout

    I do a warm up of band pull aparts, face pulls, hangs, and band shoulder rotation work.
    Would this warm up go before or after a rehab warm up like what I’m doing?

    If you were to be doing say squat/bench in one day would you do both warm ups back to back or do lower body warm up then squat then do upper warm up then bench? Or both one after the other then continue with your squat/bench like normal

      odds are he is going to say your weaknesses. I have had success recently using 4x25 belt squats circuited with 4x25 posterior chain exercise like banded good mornings, reverse hypers or back extensions. Start with less total reps and build up to 100 total (i.e. start at 3x15 and build from there). Works really well.
