Great video, and I’m glad you got everything fixed and properly adjusted. I too have the cherry Dot (2010), and one of the coolest features on mine is that the wood grain has really bled through the finish over time. It looks like a Custom Shop job now! 🤘🏾Anyway, great playing bro. May you have many years of inspiration and fun with that little beastie.
Thanks Kurt! Great to hear that you still love yours after all the years. They are truly amazing Guitars for the money. I have high end Guitars but must admit that the Dot is so versatile and temperature stable that it gets reached for more often. That's a really interesting point about the cherry finish too. Thanks for looking in. 👍🙂👍
Thank you! 😊 John was playing an Epiphone Casino (block neck inlays/P90 dog ear pickups) on the Rooftop Gig. Also unlike the much later Dot which has a centre block, the Casino was fully hollow inside. Both great Guitars though ✌️
I have what used to be an Epiphone Dot. Upgraded the pickups to Gibson 57 Classics and replaced the wiring with a Stew Mac wiring harness. Sound incredible. Country through a Fender amp, jazz through a VOX amp and, rock through a Marshall amp.
Great upgrades there! I thought I might need to swap the Pups before I played it but honestly it sounds so good I am going to leave it. Yeah absolutely no need to spend 10x the price to get your dream versatile guitar on. Thanks for looking in. 😊
Thanks for the insight, I've only had this one but it rivals Custom Shop Guitars with Stock Pups so I definitely got a great one. Thanks for watching 👍
I got one a few months ago on Craigslist, a 2005 Korean-made. The nut was pretty squirrelly, but once I had a nice bone nut installed it's turned out to be a GREAT guitar! The previous owner swapped out the original pickups for some DiMarzio's, so I don't know how the original pickups are, but as it is it sounds great, and plays like butter. I guess this is a good one, because I really love it.
I have a dot 335 2002 from the Samick factory - I got it for 300 on Gumtree and it's amazing. Mine has a laminated maple top which is the only clue that it's lower end but the sounds are amazing. The construction/action too. It's never going to go up in value or inspire jealousy, true - but when I record with it, nobody would suspect what this one says on the headstock. It made me see Epiphone differently and I care far less about branding these days.
Thanks for watching! These are outstanding Guitars and no the laminated construction is the same on the expensive Gibson ones too, even the moulds used to press them are the original ones. They are appreciating in value a little since the new Epiphone 335 is more expensive so you definitely have a good investment there. Epiphone were good enough for the Beatles so I am OK with them. Cheers 👍🙂👍
Sounds like a lot of problems to get it to where it should have been in the first place. I would like one but think I would try the one I will buy. Difficult in this day of the internet
It's a good point. Personally I will never again buy a Guitar Online unless it comes in a Hardshell Case. DHL Germany broke the neck! The "Dot" was discontinued so you can only buy secondhand with all that entails (adjustmentswise from previous owners settings) the new Epiphone 335 is 200 euros/dollars more expensive. For my ears it was well worth it even with the Neck Break, the seller paid for the repair without problems. There are a few videos in Shorts on my channel documenting this. I hope you find one to your liking, best of luck and happy playing. Thank you for looking in. 👍🙂👍

Excellent vid. Thanks. But didn't John Lennon play an Epiphone dot with the Beatles? Most visibly in the rooftop session?
Thank you! 😊

Damn dude you can play
Thank you kindly, thanks also for watching. 👍
I've had a couple of Dots. It's crazy how inconsistent they are, but when you find a good one, they are great.
