After checking out the latest models from other brands (excluding Apple) up-to approx. USD500, particularly listening to them at the store, I went with PXC. I had the xm4’s but wasn’t excited about the sound. Bought the AirPods Max and sound definitely a step up and also the noise cancelling is still great. I find the clamping pressure a tiny bit too high. I’m not really a fan of the fabric ear pads as they can irritate a little. Momentum 3's are the only good bluetooth headphones I've heard for sound quality so far. I also like the materials used. I also like the retro design, it has its own style. Doesn't look like everything else.
I use OG PXC 550, don't know if it will sound the same way on 2nd gen, but try Thump, Near, High and On in Adjustements. I found it perfect while listening both deathcore and hardstyle, sound is really immersive and crisp. PS. I prefer more clean and neutral sound rather than heavily bass boosted, and with those settings I found it just perfect for my needs
Momentumms have quite a few years between them, I'd say the momentum 3 have improved so much from the previous generations they are most definitely worth it, and imo, the absolute best bt headphones.
@@TheAscendedTechNinja they seem to update not for at least 3yrs when new Bluetooth tech comes out which def makes a need to update. They don’t update if there isn’t new major technology.
For PXC 550 ii, there’s a slide on the right ear to adjust the amount of noise cancelling , and that doesn’t pause your music. The only unsatisfying thing with 550 ii is that damn micro usb
Still I think that a true ambient sound would be achievable through a software update. Other than that they're almost perfect, the comfort is unmatched.
Adjusting amount of noise cancelling is nothing like a good transparency/ambient mode (whilst listening to music at the same time), due to effect of passive noise cancellation. I was really torn between two Sennheisers, and if PXC550ii had allowed you to use whilst in transparency mode, I definitely would have gone with them. Small feature for some, but was important for my use case, and led to me having to go with M3s, and their less breathability/more weight, worse ANC, worse performance for calls, slightly worse battery life, worse case. Lol, sound quite negative so I should make it clear that I love my M3s but I think pxc550ii are a solid pair too, and were the only other pair I was seriously considering, with transparency mode being the dealbreaker.
So the PXC is equivalent in many ways to the airpod pro max?? I feel like the Sennys got an incredible amount of praise and felt biased. Is it really that good?? I ordered the PXC 550ii and arriving tomorrow and will be my first Sennheiser product. I am a Samsung day 1 - not Apple fan.

I tried the airpods max just yesterday. They are the best headphones on the market from many points of view but they have one big flaw: they weigh too much but too much. It is the first time that I have ever worn headphones and feel discomfort from their weight. I already know that I couldn't wear them for more than an hour. I wouldn't buy them. But of course they also have many advantages including sound insulation which is extraordinary.

@GYMCADDY, I have a video review request. Can you please do a review of Klipsch T5 II TRUE WIRELESS SPORT Vs Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2? This would be an interesting comparison all around these two earbuds with excellent specs and features of their technology. Thank you, and I hope you see this comment for consideration of doing a review between Klipsch and Sennheiser.
Same choice I faced, depends on what is important to you and best deal you can get. Pxc 550ii better for comfort (weight/breathability), making calls, ANC, longer battery life, generally a bit cheaper, better case Momentum 3 better for build quality, being able to adjust sound via eq more flexibly, transparency mode allows you to listen to music, usb c Maybe slightly better sound quality on M3, but dont get hung up on that. I went for M3 got as new for £170 from Sennheiser outlet, due to good deal, and importance of transparency mode vs calls and ANC not being as important for me personally. Both solid choices.
@GYMCADDY how do you compare in sq with px7? I remember you stated that px7 where better sq wise than m3’s because of soundstage but enjoyed m3 more because of rumbling lows so how the px7 are against apple AirPods max?
I own the PX7 and they're good headphones. They do however get really shril in certain songs with high pitch instruments. I rush to either reduce the vol on them or just remove them from my head. They can get sibilant and ruin certain songs at high volumes. I'm sure the Airpods Max have lower sibilance than them even though many reviews have called the AP Max getting too shrill at times.
They are very overrated and muddy sounding plus lack ANC. Mostly hype, returned mine. Better off with any of the Sennheisers, PX7, Aonic 50 or Airpods Max if you use Apple stuff.
@@theodorezurla496 I compared to them to my Hifiman Ananda, Shure Aonic 50 and the previous PXC 550 II I had. They are trash and the frequency response/tuning is nothing to do with audiophile or harman target. You can EQ the mid/upper bass down to recover some detail, but they never shine.
You need to install the Sennheiser smart control android or iOS app on a mobile phone, and from there, click on settings cog in top right of screen , and there is option to toggle smart pause on and off. Once you have done this once, you can uninstall the app if you don't want to keep it, and setting will stay as whatever you chose as setting is stored on headphones.
Lol, steel on M3s I got so I guess PXC 550ii wins the 'which pair would be safest to wear in a thunderstorm' .. Wonder why no reviews seem to mention this important category 🤣🤣
hmm better sound options review and only 3min about sound ? When I entered it I was hoping that finally somebody will focus on the most important aspect of the headphones - sound..but no again features and ANC ... :(
Um, wouldnt go that far. Noise cancellation is adequate, makes things feel further away, eg kids playing feel like they are in adjacent room, not same room, or neighbour mowing lawn next door sounds more like it is 3 back yards away rather than next door. Also it 'thins out' noises by removing low frequencies, so a passing petrol car sounds more like an electric car, removes lower frequencies of vacuuming/lawn mower etc. Importantly, it doesnt distort music at all to my ear, and no associated cabin pressure when using anc max in noisy environment.
Bit of a specific question, but I’ve got a pair of Sennheiser HD 595 headphones. Anybody know how they compare to AirPods Max? I’ve had them for a long time
When it comes to sound quality, most mid to high end Sennheiser headphones will absolutely blow the Airpods Max out of the water. They are usually better in the comfort area as well. Being that they are an older headset, they may end up sounding worse by the nature of technological evolution. I don't think the 595s have noise cancelation, so the Airpods Max definitely beat them out in that category. If you're looking for noise cancelation and good sound quality without paying $550 USD or if you don't have any modern Apple products (In which case you will be exceptionally limited on the Airpods Max's functionality and updatability), I would definitely go with the Sennheiser PXC 550-II Wireless headset. Otherwise, stick with what you already have, the 595s are pretty dang great as is.
Don't listen to the donkey recommending the skull candy garbage. He obviously doesn't know sound quality. $90, get the anker q30. NOTHING in this price range will top anker's.
I agree with anker life q30, now available for closer £60 due to newer model being released.. excellent for listening to music (with an eq that puts every other manufacturer to shame), no aptx low latency, but has aptx, so should he just about tolerable (lag wise) if you transmit bluetooth via digital optical out If hd350BT is only $80, then that is better choice due to having aptx low latency.
Ten minutes in and still NOT A WORD about sound quality. What is the primary purpose of headphones? I thought it was sound quality but I guess I’m wrong...
Lol, it seems to be the general pattern all these reviewers follow, partly because they go through things you notice before using and list of features, and also, the cynic in me says they know that is the bit people are most interested in, so they purposefully don't do it at start because half of views will end right there 😂

Just wish it had quick charge, and couple more notches for volume when used wirelessly, as via wire+DAC they are loud - but not a deal breaker.
BTW, when i want party in my head - Momentum 3 Wireless. Gotta say I really like Sennheiser soundstage and signature.
Pxc550 /px550II have a problem with low volume. I own Pxc550 and Airpods max and there is huge improvement in sound quality in Airpods max. I really was glad for my PXC 550 for years, but switching to apple airpods max was just a different experience.
The anc on the AirPods Max is impressive. Sounds almost silent
Really enjoyed the comparison. I have the Momentum 2 wired and I like them a lot.
I prefer the convenience of the AirPods Pro for mobile use, and then I listen to my hifiman Ananda when I am at home and I am connected to my stereo. They are a huge step up from anything I’ve ever heard before.
Finally someone who does not buy into hype about Airpods Max and who isnt Apple fanboy. Tired of all those fake reviewers.
Who have you seen that are Apple fanboys? Flossy Carter (who hates Apple) said they sound better than any other wireless headphones, mkbhd chooses them over the Sony’s, and snazzy labs (an audiophile) said they sound way better than Sony’s and Bose. It’s not “Apple hype”, It’s the truth

@@CybernerdShua he’s just honest. Airpods max are some of the best wireless headphones, and the overall best in terms of how many features they have and how good they do at it.
I am pretty curious about the AirPods sound. I own the momentum’s for sound quality and the xm4s for noise cancelling. It would be nice to have both features in one pair of headphones...
I had the xm4’s but wasn’t excited about the sound. Bought the AirPods Max and sound definitely a step up and also the noise cancelling is still great. I find the clamping pressure a tiny bit too high. I’m not really a fan of the fabric ear pads as they can irritate a little. I have AirPods Pro’s and seem to always choose those - because they are so comfortable. So maybe I will sell the AirPods Max and get the momentum 3’s - lose a bit of ANC and also battery life BUT great sound and significantly more comfort than the apple AirPods Max. Do you find the sound and comfort of the momentum 3’s to be great?
@@scott2724 I am happy with the comfort, but after months of using both headphones, it seems I don’t use the momentum’s that often. In most cases I need the NC. But than I switch to them the sound is significantly better. For me both are comfy enough, the momentums have bigger ear cups so that could be an additional comfort point.
@@scott2724 WHICH IS LOUDER? The airpods max or sony? i need a loud headphone, atleast 110 dB

The Pandas keep getting brought up as nearly the absolute best and they are $400, right? Never tried them...just bought the XM 4 though. Already got the Bose 700s too.
your reviews are great! I did a "after 6 months review" for the momentum 3s on my channel. They are my fav ANC headphones :)
Ive been waiting for this video! Thanks!!! I got the Momentum 3 and had the pxc 550 before that and both are great headphones
Is there a big difference between the two?
@@midnightsparkles3772 yes...if the Momentum 3 are in your budget range get them...you wont regret it. Soundwise and also quality wise they are miles ahead of the pxc 550 in my opinion. I never regretted upgrading to the M3. However the Pxc have longer battery life (but they charge with micro usb which is a huge downside for me) and are also waaay lighter so better for exercising...but I dont care about that, the sound of the momentum is just soooo good
Momentum 3's are the only good bluetooth headphones I've heard for sound quality so far.
On my recently upgraded version-II, I prefer Thump only, the rest are off. Even after 2+ years I am not getting what DLC exactly does. 😎
When would momentum 4 most likely come out? Next year? 2022? Wondering if it still makes sense to buy the momentum 3’s
Momentumms have quite a few years between them, I'd say the momentum 3 have improved so much from the previous generations they are most definitely worth it, and imo, the absolute best bt headphones.
Yeah it maoes sense. Sony and bowse does the same thing.
Ugh for the momentum idk the last 2.0 came out 5 years ago lol

My PXC 550 2 just broke when I put them on. The plastic just snapped. I ave been very careful with them. The build quality really sucks.
Will the momentums sound better than the AirPods max even in an iPhone device? I’m really confused which one to go for.
Would like to see review and comparison with the Drop Panda +Thx headphones.
Same
Linus Tech Tips just released a video reviewing the Airpod Max, in which he compares them to the Pandas.
They have no ANC so that would be different category to test against.
@@stephenknight6562 that to lol
Thanks so much for the comparison and your hard work for us!!
I wouldn't see them in the same league(airpod max and 550-ii), but seeing how I'm going to buy the 550-ii's I will take all the comparisons I can get
So the PXC is equivalent in many ways to the airpod pro max?? I feel like the Sennys got an incredible amount of praise and felt biased. Is it really that good?? I ordered the PXC 550ii and arriving tomorrow and will be my first Sennheiser product. I am a Samsung day 1 - not Apple fan.
Thoughts on them?

Nice review! Can you please try to review the Dali io6 ?
Same i have the Io4, i do wonder how this compare to sennheiser
I tried the airpods max just yesterday. They are the best headphones on the market from many points of view but they have one big flaw: they weigh too much but too much. It is the first time that I have ever worn headphones and feel discomfort from their weight. I already know that I couldn't wear them for more than an hour. I wouldn't buy them. But of course they also have many advantages including sound insulation which is extraordinary.
Great video as always!
Great Video Buddy. I really need your help regarding some other Tech. I recently bought a Sony XB5 speaker thinking I could link it to my XB41 via Bluetooth but have had no luck. Can this be done?
Many thanks

@GYMCADDY, I have a video review request. Can you please do a review of Klipsch T5 II TRUE WIRELESS SPORT Vs Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2? This would be an interesting comparison all around these two earbuds with excellent specs and features of their technology.
Thank you, and I hope you see this comment for consideration of doing a review between Klipsch and Sennheiser.
What material is the headband of the PXC 550 II? is it metal or plastic?
Great review!!!
Based on the following prices ive found, what would you choose from the two sennheisers? Momentum 3 at £250 or the others for £187?
Same choice I faced, depends on what is important to you and best deal you can get.
Pxc 550ii better for comfort (weight/breathability), making calls, ANC, longer battery life, generally a bit cheaper, better case
Momentum 3 better for build quality, being able to adjust sound via eq more flexibly, transparency mode allows you to listen to music, usb c
Maybe slightly better sound quality on M3, but dont get hung up on that.
I went for M3 got as new for £170 from Sennheiser outlet, due to good deal, and importance of transparency mode vs calls and ANC not being as important for me personally.
Both solid choices.
Are the Sennheiser PCX 550 II's worth it at 200 dollars?
yup
Got my momentum 3s for $184 they are about gone but for that price it's ok
I wonder if any third party will offer AirPod Max leather ear cups?
550 dollars for a brand. You’re not buying headphones, you’re buying Apple
"they have aluminum earcups" lol just found that 2:17

They are very overrated and muddy sounding plus lack ANC. Mostly hype, returned mine. Better off with any of the Sennheisers, PX7, Aonic 50 or Airpods Max if you use Apple stuff.

Yes you can turn it off
@@marvinkn99 he said how lol
You need to install the Sennheiser smart control android or iOS app on a mobile phone, and from there, click on settings cog in top right of screen , and there is option to toggle smart pause on and off.
Once you have done this once, you can uninstall the app if you don't want to keep it, and setting will stay as whatever you chose as setting is stored on headphones.

Many say the ANC on the momentum 3 has improved a lot with software updates many say it now rivals Sony after the software updates.
Why would anyone go commuting with the Airpods Max. Also does this man understand to who these headphones are marketed to.
They're perfect for the bus or train or the office.
