Thon who wieldeth the Goblet of Cunt shall be Cuntest everlasting. Errata: - I call Chase Utley a footballer - I fuckupify the footage even though I still have a copyright claim on this video - I misspell Rhea Perlman's name at 8:35 - The audio levels drop during and after the Christian Bale interview - more soon!
I'm betting that Frank killing the seabird and getting "cursed" is a reference to The Lighthouse (2019). In the movie, Robert Pattinson's character also is warned against killing a one-eyed seagull, being told it'll curse him, but he ends up beating it to death when it bites him.
also why the fuck does dennis come with dee at all to apologise to rhea perlman!! why is he not concerned at all about himself throughout the episode???? like he's forgetting words, which is one of his primary skills (in his eyes) - he should be way more concerned!!! WHY DOES HE HAVE MAUREEN'S ASHES
It's watchable, but yeah, this episode just felt off. Like they were trying to do a "classic" Sunny episode and completely missed what made them work in the first place
Maybe the gag was that the episode itself was cursed to be a badly written episode so they pulled every single bad writing technique and trope they could think of and wrote the show as if they were just someone they pulled off the street who had a vague understanding of the characters and story beats of the regular show. Kinda a meta-humor that only the writers really know the full depth of.
Yeah I was thinking this was the conclusion he was leading up to but then I checked the timestamp and the video was almost over. I agree that it was one of if not the most forgettable sunny episodes. But maybe that itself is the curse. Maybe after 15 seasons they were so aware of what made the episodes good and memorable that they used that knowledge to write an uncannily forgettable episode to challenge themselves and try something new. Or maybe it was just a bad episode. Idk.
the episode wasnt bad, just not remembable. the last scene was the same as the 2020 episode, where the gang was apart of all the weird news stories from the year 2020

Maybe the episode is just bad because they phoned it in, not because they intentionally made it bad.
It's probably not a prank, if it was bad on purpose, it's probably a test. The shows been going on for a long time and a lot of the best moments already happened. Gauging if the new seasons you're making are actually good with an intentionally bad episode makes sense if you've got a show as successful and influential as sunny. It's like 2 decades old and still going, Rob's got a soccer team with deadpool, Charlie is the voice of Luigi in the Super Mario Bros remake, and Glen gets to play a bald guy in some show. They're really successful, I think this makes more sense than a prank no one caught on to.
I somewhat agree. I think maybe after 15 seasons the writers wrote an intentionally forgettable episode. They know what makes the show good and did this as fun project or writing experiment to test that formula. Every part of it just seems too perfectly mediocre. Like not glaringly bad but inconspicuously lacking what made it good to an average viewer. Idk I also accept that it could simply be a bad episode. But it was bad in a different way to their previous poorly received episodes. The writing appeared to lack intention in a way that was too perfect to be unintentional. Or again maybe it’s just a dud and I’m overthinking probably this.
I unfortunately couldn’t watch the whole video but I have to say right off the bat I think you’re wrong about the gang should be upset that Mac signed them up for bar rescue and the part where Dennis is upset that he didn’t train more to be on the show. They don’t think of the bar as a classy good extension of themselves. They’re often perplexed by the idea of the bar being busy, they talk smack about their patrons. They don’t think of it as a great flashy extension of themselves. I also could be wrong but there’s some acknowledgment they’re getting old so Dennis would want to try and look even better then he has if he were too be on TV.
I quit watching the show after season 10. It just got weird, and I was over it. Better let something die before running it into the ground. The Simpsons is an example.
I haven't watched anything since season 12 because it's hard. I get that flanderization is inevitable but it feels like I'm watching the actors doing impressions of their characters rather than portraying them, if that makes sense.
I stopped watching many seasons ago so this is my first time seeing anything from the recent season... it looks & sounds so... surreal? From the way you describe it it sounds absolutely terrible. Makes me sad 😢
The remainder of season 16 I thought was excellent, especially E1, E4 and E7. The newer seasons are overhated because they try new styles of jokes and most fans want the same formula. Maybe check out the newer seasons, you might be pleasantly surprised!
I only saw a Haunting in Venice once… but didn’t they imply that after they confirmed that everything had a reasonable explanation for why it happened that the ghost killed the actual killer on the roof?
To be fair the last 3 seasons have been pretty shit. A few watchable episodes from time to time but nothing special. Dennis takes a Mental Day is pretty shit too from season 16.
I don’t think you understand a lot of the comedy and cinematography, the continuity errors are done one purpose. If you wanna pick it apart, that’s fine but damn your put all this together like it’s a college course. always sunny is one of the funniest shows on tv. And the things that make not much sense, aren’t supposed dude. Go watch the it’s alwaalways sunny pod cast and u may just understand. Not every comedy has to has to be but together like it’s the damn James web telescope. Sorry but your grasp on this type of comedy I think goes waaaayy over your head, not everything has to be explained in depth.

the best part is when Mac tracks down Chase Utley, talking like 1920s "Mr Utley, Mr. Utley! A moment of your time sir! Hi Mr. Utley, Hello"
anyway your voice is very full of identity. hope you survive puberty

Good connection, its possible! They’ve mentioned having watched the movie on the pod iirc
"Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs" was pretty much "The Lighthouse" 4 years earlier
More likely to be a reference to the Rime of the Ancient Mariner imo
that or the rime of the ancient mariner
Mac trying to get a catch with Chase is actually one of my favourites performances from the show lol

13:26 I hope this comment section survives how Americans are probably gonna react to you calling Chase Utley a footballer
formal media criticism is OVER we’re writing ransom notes now

charlies mom screaming annoys me so much which i think is the point but i just hate it

I agree that the episode could be better but I appreciate them trying to divert from the standard. In all a really well made video 🎉
suchhh a good video!!! that was a really cool take to listen to
Thank you so much 😊

One of my favorite episodes! Great job!

aside from this ep, which I think was the only miss, I thought s16 was really good
I personally loved every other S16 episode and moreover every other sunny episode
I quit watching the show after season 10. It just got weird, and I was over it. Better let something die before running it into the ground. The Simpsons is an example.
Yea I stopped watching season 13
The quality just went downhill and they cut back on the edgy dialogue after.
great points here

i dropped the show for months midway through this episode. couldn’t take it
I only saw a Haunting in Venice once… but didn’t they imply that after they confirmed that everything had a reasonable explanation for why it happened that the ghost killed the actual killer on the roof?
What’s the bigger bait? The episode or your attempt to gain views??
the newer seasons are much worse imo
