Subha mam...நீங்கள் எங்களுக்கு கேள்வி கேட்த்தான் தெரியும் என்று சொன்ன மாதிரி, எங்களுக்கும் ரஸிக்கத்தான் தெரியும். இந்த இளசுகளை, ஆனால் சங்கீதத்தில் முதிர்ந்தவர்களை Judge பண்ணி Vote பண்ணுமளவு ஞானம் இல்லையே. நானும் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கேட்டாலும் ஒருத்ததரை ஒருவர் மிஞ்சும் திறமைசாலிகளாய் இருக்கிறார்கள். Stage & ambience were perfectly set making us feel witnessing a big tournament finale. In the Virutham round everyone sung well. In the sub-junior category, I felt, Arjun & Anirudh Krishna, for their age, sang KG & Kambodhi like a Champion with such an Open-Throated singing reminding us KB SundaraambaaL. Sriranjani's Sahaana, Sana Manoj's Saaveri, Meenakshi's Behaag and Bhava Priya's KeeravaNi were so striking. In the Junior category, everyone thrilled us. Yadhushree with a moving Kaapi, Sakthi with a revealing Sindhu Bhairavi, Raga Sudha with a scintillating Reetigowla, Srikrithi with an expressive Hamsanandhi, Ram Charan with an haunting Ranjani, Aditya with a painstaking NalinaKanti and Pavani with an erudite Kedara GowLa. Round II is Too Technical and hence Not Competent to comment. While all the female singers sang Begada admirably, both Ram Charan & Aditya Dev though sang Raagam Sriranjani fairly well, both of them erred in pronouncing the phrase "Sarvaalankara". Now, Looking forward to the Final round - AAlaabanaa. Good Going indeed!

Paavani's singing throughout the contest has been filled with bhavam and technical precision. Hope to see her as amongst the frontline singers in the sabhas one day.

I have been a carnatic music ardent listener for nearly 70 years, and in my opinion [and background as HR practitioner], I personally feel [and doubt] whether even one of these judges would have done these things at the ages of current participants; I personally feel that testing of theory is a very good thing, but all the contestants have done wonderful and it is too much to go into theory by the judging panel. Incidentally, I have listened to all these each and one of the judging panel members from Sri Santhanagopalan, Mrs Sowmya and the younger generation of many many concerts. Of course, one needs to remember that these sorts of contests did not exist 30 plus years ago ..

Most of the judges ( junior artists ) in the basic rounds were observed asking kids to do things which they themselves struggle to do.
Hey, we know what u were able to sing when u were juniors and what your contemporaries sang during that time.
Also this competition has proved that its a hopeless and waste one by giving different syllabus for different kids for the same examination

Whatever exercises they have been given on stage is what they go through in every Music class. These are all the regular portions they have to cover before they enter a concert stage. sir.
@@Ragamalikatv well said. The judges are not at all negative. If the child cannot do it they even teach them how to in the competition.
@@drkrsna What is the big deal if Pavani kota had taken one or two more seconds to complete her song, but Judge Sriranjani was getting upset and gesticulating as if a big mistake was made, such action put too much stress on them, is it not?

When it comes to Virutham singing, Thamizh takes over Sanskrit in an unparalleled way. The vallinam, mellinam present in the language gives a natural malleability for Virutham singing. Topping it is the ability to understand and sing in one's own mother tongue.. Sanskrit words like jihva, barhapeetam, bibratvasa, randran are very un-musical, hence making it difficult to be sung in a Virutham format.too many 'ra'karam, 'ha'kaaram at the end' and the inability to distinguish alpa/maha praana.. compare these words with poonguzhaL, en Thai, thandhai, chinthakulam, emai Aal - what a rich vallinam and mellinam.. the perfect reason why one should choose Thamizh for virutham.. Contestants should know this or rather teachers should train students accordingly and take-up appropriately.
Yeah because only Tamils sing Carnatic music!!!! Languages like kannada, Telugu and Malayalam are non-existent to you? Or don't you think singers from these places are not actually carnatic musicians???
@@nihaal4763Pls read my comment properly before rushing in with your advice.( Hehe No one wants) I had clearly mentioned 'Virutham' singing and it is very contextual as the contestants chose to sing Tamil and Sanskrit verses. For your information 'Virutham' is a Tamil word and the comment is contextual and I did not compare it with 'Carnatic music' as such. Anyone who has even a mild introduction to Carnatic music would know it has got multiple formats of songs in multiple languages. Suggest you to go through the comment again , I am not sure whether you would be able to even understand the vallinam mellinam part that I have elaborated. Grow up.
@@sriramr2385 There, you just assumed that I don't understand vallinam and mellinam. It's this sort of narrow mindedness that I am questioning. As a person who knows Tamil (mother tongue), Malayalam, Kannada and Sanskrit and have been practicing carnatic music for more than 18 years I can attest to you that all these languages can carry viruttham singing perfectly. Especially shlokas in Malayalam. Shades of Viruttham type of singing can also be seen in Mohiniyattam songs as well as kathakali songs. You're just so drunk on Tamil that you can't see beauty in other languages. Vallinam, mellinam and idaiyinam are features of Tamil. Languages like Malayalam and Kannada have 5 categories of classification of phonemes. Which makes it more literarily floral for musical usage.
@@nihaal4763 Hey man, understand that this is contextual and none of the contestants sang any language other than Tamil and Sanskrit. Just to give counter to your bragging about knowledge and other stuff, I too have been singing CM for past 25 years and playing veena for 8 years. Born in TN, studied in AP for 7 years and worked for 8 years in Karnataka. I have very good proficiency in three languages. To a certain extent I can understand Malayalam as my grandfather's root is from Palghat. I don't have to be saying all this, just saying so that you get to know my background. I like listening to Potana padyams , Ugabhogas too.
I love to be immersed in Tamil and I have no shame to say that I am narrow minded. It is my mother tongue and there is so much to explore that one life is not sufficient. In spite of the fact that participants were from neighbouring state, none chose to represent their mother tongue. And if you call loving one's own mother tongue a lot and fail to see other languages beauty as 'narrow mindedness', well I love to be narrow minded.
This opinion of mine is subjective and I don't want anyone to endorse it. Yes, Viruthams can sound beautiful in Odiya, Bhojpuri, Konkani - but only I fail to appreciate it as I can't connect with it.
You have not read my comment fully as I have mentioned about this 'connect' that one gets immediately when singing your mother tongue. We can disagree and move on. Heavens are not going to fall.

Relay swaras in Begada - is this the yardstick for checking out Manodharmam? Cannot fathom this was the decider 😨 One should be 100% professional in organizing talent rounds that deeply test the caliber, knowledge & musical output of these supremely talented young musicians - why this hotch-potch approach ? Wish the organizers had put in enough effort and thought through the process in detail and come up with better ideas to test the calibre of the young contestants- especially when the tag line is "This is not a contest - but a career" - Utterly Disappointing!
I thought it was an interesting round... and they all did it like pros.
For your kind information - This is not the Mandharma round. This is called the rapid swara exercise round. Please do wait for the further rounds as this is not the deciding round. And we hope you followed their previous rounds where they had detailed testing of Manodharmam in their semifinals. Thank you
@@Ragamalikatv Let me reiterate my point - having cleared several rounds earlier - including QF & SF - all these gifted kids deserved a chance to showcase their musical knowledge and prowess rather than this "relay swara" and a 90-sec sloka being used as a yardstick for deciding who goes ahead.
@@sridharkalyanaraman6943 Let me also reclarify - This is not the YARD STICK ROUND. This is a warm up and presence of mind round. I am sure you will agree that for a performing musicians, planning rapid swarams on stage is the crux of every concert. For the kids, the judging happens based on various aspects and one of them is "presence of mind and stage management". If you continue to watch the epsiodes you will know what is the next round and on what basis the champion was judged. Thank you
@@Ragamalikatv I have watched all episodes so far and understand the format - I am referring to 7 CMI finalists becoming 5 after these two "warm up" rounds - did the kids slog through earlier tough rounds just to get eliminated through "warm up" rounds - all along my simple point is elimination cannot happen just based on a 90-second sloka and "relay swarams" - in my opinion all 7 finalists should have been given more and equal opportunities to showcase talent! I rest my case! Thanks for reading!
