First of all, my favorite drummer, but he is also a great man of God. You don't have to believe in God to like ABR, but I do, and believe these songs are more than lyrics. They relate to everything, and I like that.
Man. the past mistakes of history have led many to believe religion is about perfection or purity. but it absolutely is not. it’s all about the pursuit of improving yourself and becoming centered with your soul and how that relates to your place among other people and in the universe. guys like Matt remind me we all have so much we can do to get better. doesn’t mean you’re bad. you can be very good and still improve. and that applies to life as well as drumming. Matt is truly a man of God.
The thing about ABR lyrics, is that they relate to every day problems. When he says "Losing it all led me to You", doesn't necessarily mean God to me. That's why their lyrics are so awesome. They're ambiguous and subjective.
I know for sure that he also wrote Divisions and Indonesia. There are probably others that he wrote, too. Matt, Jake, and Brent seem to write lyrics the most.
I remember when my band opened up for them roughly 12 years ago, unfortunately I had to leave the show early but I had the honor to watch his warm-up before the show started. God dammit his skills are unimaginably good.
Didn't matt start drumming in Highschool and they started the band in highschool? Cause if that's the case then I'm so inspired because I started playing drums my 8th grade summer to freshman year and I'm a sophomore now and I've been practicing for non stop
You might be thinking of his friend Adam gray (their styles are pretty similar) who started a band in high school (it's called Texas in July if you're interested) although they just broke up.
+NathanDrums tij is such an awesome band. I was just wondering because he started the band soon after he started playing. he's so good from the short time he's been playing between then
jesus, this dude wrote some of my favorite ABR songs lol
He plays for Jesus, too!
It's crazy how flawless he plays.
Ikr?

TRUTH!
Woah. Crazy. Looking back at this comment from 4 years ago and I was a completely different person.
He's got better timing than an atomic clock.
There are so many technical parts in here it's incredible. Awesome job Matt.

Amazing drummer... Amazing lyrics... Thank you ABR for creating great music with purpose
Playing drums by themselves like this, making it sound good, and keeping it interesting is a really hard thing to do, but he done it so well
Well, he's listening to the song in his headphones.
I was at this exact drum clinic it was in glen Burnie Maryland
Gods going to restore what he lost.
matt is going to restore what he lost, by his own will and sweat, not god.
god helps us through that stuff.
no man does that, give credits to the right people. btw r.i.p the rev
jason G Right on!!
+jason G Will and sweat God gave him. God gives us the ability to get through situations like that, so yes, he'll get through it, with God.
Great to know that Matt wrote those songs. Anybody know if he maybe wrote more of them?
I know for sure that he also wrote Divisions and Indonesia. There are probably others that he wrote, too. Matt, Jake, and Brent seem to write lyrics the most.
I asked him about this at the clinic in Connecticut, and he told me that he writes about a third of the songs.
He also wrote the lyrics to Meddler :)
The GOAT

I appreciate the video. I just wish the camera was a bit farther back to get the full kit.
+Stickto YourDrums Thanks! I would've loved to get the whole kit. Unfortunately, my seat was directly in the middle of an audience.
4:33 buger check
I love how he's talking about the meaningful lyrics he wrote and then there's a vater product in the background that says "slick nut" on it.
Well pleased matt
Slick Nut
For the longest time I had no idea what that meant. And just now saw "Slick Nut" in the background.
Charlie Thomas xD
Execution Of The Masses Sounds so disgusting but I'm glad I saw that too. Hahahaha.
Matt you're such a monster
Posting before the vid gets 100k views

The tinnitus in his right ear must be unbearable

So one of the toughest time of his life was losing money? Yep Matt is well and truly a Jew.
I really didn't wanna go there but couldn't resist
+instantsurgery I think it's more the fact that he was hurt by someone he trusted.
+instantsurgery By losing money, I think he meant almost all of it, or not enough to live on. So times were obviously tough..
that's funny shit!!!
+instantsurgery i swear he's Christian?
+Brandon Chambers Very
