I'm fro. The area where you found this. If I remember right, that dozer is nothing more then an expensive paperweight. Engine is shot and so much else wrong with it. It's not technically abandoned as it sits on mine land owned by a local mining company. Eventually they will get around to scrapping it. Just be careful around there because that land is patrolled and they will charge you with trespassing if they catch you there
I work at a huge coal mine below hazelton in Tamaqua this dozer is abandoned but be careful around those mines berms fall off the edges and high walls collapse, and mine shafts open up out of no where all the time, our pit is miles wide and we leave what looks like “abandoned” hugeee equipment worth millions of dollars in what looks like abandoned parts of our mine but really it’s because we moved on from that area with the coal veins and some equipment that’s sat for 20+ years in our old pit we just fire up one day and continue mining in there like nothing so be careful around those areas

A friend and bought a Komatsu D475-2 in Morgantown WV and hauled it to Pikeville Ky. a yr ago. It looked like this dozer but it had a 4 barrel ripper on it instead of counterweight. But the engine through a connecting rods through the side of the block and the U/C was worn out. We paid $25,000 for the dozer and paid $14,000 to haul it. This machine looks good for recovery, rather than going to waste. It is a big model, not very old and these are very very expensive machines, probably new one will be US $500,000. Scrap alone will fetch good price or parts. Sometimes you can get abandoned equipment through the courts. If they are eg on your land, which is easier, but if it is anywhere you still can but it is more involved.
That only applies if something is left on your own property. You're spewing lies by telling people that you can go through court to get a piece of abandoned equipment off any land, that's just not true, dumbass.
Very cool video. It's amazing that they would just a piece of equipment like this to rot, unless it had some catastrophic failure making it unethical to repair. Great job as always.

Think that's hard to imagine, try imagining the bill to move and overhaul the thing! It more than paid for itself and the reason it was built in the first place was to make a profit. When anything goes beyond economic repair it doesn't make sense to fix it vs. putting a good runner to work making money from the start.

I don’t think abandoned is the appropriate term here, it’s appears to be slightly off of the side of a path on the edge of a field, like a farmer keeps it there. It would cost both arms and a leg to load up on a low boy to transport it so it’s most likely not a every day working machine but should have no issue starting up and working.
I would check to see what the engine oil and hydraulics looked like. Pull and cut the oil filters. crack the engine oil drain plug looking for water in the oil. then I would try to turn the engine over some way to see if it was locked up. could be difficult here. might pull the injectors to relieve the compression. Hook up a dc welding machine to the starter, who knows , might be a diamond in the rough. I kind of doubt it. Although it might have got to where it is under it's own power. Someone around probably knows the history.
Please talk and say something more about the dozer , ie.. find out who might own it , the under carriage , will it run , be interesting to see how long it has sat there , what was it used for . I always love when research goes into video , nice find though 😊

It probably has a blown engine or transmission. Why else would anyone abandon a half-million dollar dozer? If it's not going to cost more to fix it than it's worth?
If it had 50,000 + hours and been worked 10 + years........the cost to move it is very high and it probably needs a major overhaul. The man who owned it could afford to do one of the other if he was still using it but since mine blew up and no longer needed it. And since to use it at another mine means paying to move it and rebuild it....cheaper to take the 750K loss on paper and buy a new dozer at new site
looseballs1966 no salvage yard is going to buy this they will take it for free but there not gonna give you what it cost to move it, you don't seem to understand how much it would cost just to move it 10 miles.
I dont know where Sheppton is but does anyone know if its possible to buy this machine as it is, because i would like to buy it & have it transported to me so i can restore the old girl ,just to preserve it so it does not matter to me if the grousers are worn out because i would not be putting it to work . I would preserve it rather than scrap it.
My guess is that you'd spend a long time looking for the "rightful owner" of the thing. It's also my guess that you'd pay a fortune to get it hauled out to wherever it is that you want it. It's missing a few things, too. I honestly don't think you'd be too pleased to acquire that unit. Go find it and look it over first.
@ The blade is worn through I'm sure it's missing more stuff we can't see.... Plus the cost of having that monster moved. Truck oversize permits and it's a little large for anything but minimg
It ain't abandoned , it's stolen !! There were two of them , rented out to three Rivers co for the Archibald pothole job , when the job ended they were moved to Hazleton for a mine rec job , sweet valley contractors I believe was the company , one of them burnt up and that on top of other problems the company bailed on the job. , furnival and komatsu of America looked for them for years , funny cause I know at least 10 people who knew where this one was sitting
deepdishpies hell when they were offering up money a local undercarriage dealer john Williams was everywhere from tamaqua to Carbondale looking for it and he couldn't find it !! from what I heard the principle in three rivers ( Russell something ) said fuck it , run it into the ground !! and they did . I'd like to know who cut up the one that burnt cause it never reapeared
I'm sure they looked real hard. If it was rented and bills paid up on it, they were probably better off letting it go and claiming it as a loss than spending the time and money to take it apart and move it to a yard or job. And alot of this big iron will sit between jobs on the last job it did. So the new lease or contract only has to cover moving from the last job rather than from the last job to the yard from the yard to the next job. There was a 5130 shovel that sat in West Virginia for years after they cut a bench in the mountain for the big Cabela's and mini mall that went it. It was impressive for a while seeing this huge lodge type wooden building and massive parking lot then this larger than life shovel at the edge of the lot lol. I guess it went to Southeastern west Virginia for another bench job. My buddies dad was the boss on that crew.
Why do you think it’s there? Is there any construction near by that this machine might have been involved in? Seems odd someone would abandon a 3/4 of a million dollar machine for no reason? Even the scrap value is over 20k. I bet he had a note on it that he could not pay therefore could not sell. Shame.
Billy Hobbs why would they just leave it or any kind of mining equipment? Just curious. Seems like a waste to leave funtional to semi-funtional equipment like this just to write it off on taxes. Im surprised the insurance cimpany doesnt step in and stop that kind of waste
These mine site dozers are so big that they can't be shipped to location fully assembled, the major assembly parts are assembled on the mining job site. Good luck with your cutting torch to drag that out of it's grave, at least old ships can be grounded at the scrap yards but that beast died and is now it's permanent grave marker.
That's one worn out old dozer I'll bet the hours on it are tremendous just looking at the grousers and sprockets let alone the blade you can tell why this was parked and forgotten. It's worth more in scrap than than anything else. Makes for a cool hike and video though.
and thats just what you can see you never know what could be goin on inside could have a blown trans busted crank or a wasted final drive that cost more than the machines worth to fix so they just shove'er out of the way and let'er set, happens all the time most outfits have a bone yard that is away from public view. suprised the cab was'nt full of beer cans if me and my highschool buddies would have had that a round I'm sure we would have had a couple friday night dozer parties
Many people have said that,, I was so busy drooling over the dozer I didn't notice, lol,, Ironically, I was operating one a few years later, . Thanks for watching
Can't see the chain but the pads/grousers are worn out lots of cracks in the blade it looks like so that will need resurfacing . Cant be worth the cost of disassembling/reassembling to move the thing or it would be moved already. Big dozer thought to be sure
Blown engine or Transmission to expensive to repair. Looks like under-carriage is gone & and it it needs cut up. I ran the 375A & 65 , D-10 Cat , D-6E , and various other machines. Komatsu is known to be more expensive to repair because of amount of breakdowns associated with the brand.
Man, you got that one right! I ran one back in the 70's when they first came out. They have rigid lines where flex hose should be. Fuel and hydraulics tanks rigidly mounted caused cracks in both . The whole thing was a poor design. The one I ran was a knock off of the D-8 . Not even close. The undercarriage frame main bolts kept shearing off due poor alignment. I will say, it pushed like hell but, "fell apart doing it". Way too much down time.
The only way it’s not worth moving is if it had catastrophic failures to the engine and transmission. These types of machines are only used on long term job sites. It would also be worth moving for scrap, probably on three truckloads.
@@donnebes9421 Engine and tranny is the cheap bit of this gear. Probably finished its job and was left there because the undercarriage wasn't worth the cost to move it or to attract a buyer. Would also earn a negligible amount for the owners once they've paid someone to cut it up and cart it to a scrap yard.
Its not abandoned. People dont leave thousands of dollars in scrap metal. Nor is it easily serviceable or it would be getting fixed. Its just waiting for its next adventure.
As you can see the track shoes are at the end of their life as the grousers are almost gone. big tractors like this and D10 & 11 Cats were used in open pit type mining. That's the only place it is economical to operate them. If nobody needs them mines park them just like big draglines and walk away.
It's probably holding a bond on the property. We do this on property sometimes. The land is still under bond and if a machine is still present the bond is still considered "active" meaning if coal prices spike or limestone prices spike they go in and dig again and get those materials without applying for a new permit and bond.
@@DDExplores that and if this machine is owned by a contract earth mover, this thing could just be waiting for it's next job because moving these machines is as monumental as what they are capable of. I know of a few machines larger than this used on mass excavations that once the project is finished it's in the contract that the larger machines can sit until the next time they are needed simply because the coat to break the machine down transport it back to the yard, and unload it would greatly impact the price of the work they do. But I was reading in other comments on here that this could be a machine that was tied up in an insurance fraud, or rental dispute. If that is the case the machine was probably rented or leased from an outfit and the payment was paid up, and was probably long time paid for and would cost a huge amount of money to move back to the yard and would be considered to outdated to be desirable to another renter so it was considered "lost" to avoid having to lose money moving it back to the rental companies yard.
@@dustywelchcraneman6614 Yeah most people don't realize the effort and cost involved to transport a machine of this magnitude. A working D11 Cat sold just north of me a few years ago for next to nothing. I mean, to the layman, it would have seemed like some kind of deal. But if a novice purchased it, by the time they got the quote for moving it, I'm sure it would just end up sitting there. A rigging company would charge hundreds of thousands of dollars to break it down, load it on about 4 heavy hauler trucks, take it somewhere it and reassemble it.
I looked up the specs,,,,,operating weight is 188,495,,,,That's a heavy machine,,, ,,, ,,,,,, The truck I used to drive weighed 366,000 lbs,,,, it was a Komatsu 785-7
Heavy equipment is generally not titled, so I would say yes, as long as it's on public land. But, the cost of breaking it down, transportation, reassembly, and fixing everything that went to hell over the years, would greatly exceed it's value.
J s Transport license alone would put most folks in the poor house. Major disassembly is required to move it. Komatsu I believe discontinued that model years ago where are parts going to come from ??? More than likely it will turn into a stain in the dirt before it gets moved again ???? Not much use in this o'l world for a machine that size. The one or two working, is it the 575 model ?? there's only 2 working units left and no more are scheduled to be built again ever !!! Cat has the D-12 & D-11 That's just about as big as they get anymore, They are not cost effective for the work they do have now days Damn shame too They are real Earth moving monsters !!!!!!
cost about $20-26 dollar a mile to move it with $10,000 upfront load and unload costs IF you get the lower gear free and rolling. How will you load it ? Plus depending you will have $1,000-5,000 in permit fees depending on on far and where
the human being who abandoned this machine and certainly does not know the size of the stupid thing that he did because with this machine he could perform several important tasks and at the same time rent that machine to someone.
It's not that easy.... This machine sitting on this tract of land could be the only thing keeping the owner from being forced to pay to have it reclaimed. The company I work for does this, all mining companies will do it.

According to Google, one of these in operating condition goes for in excess of $150,000. For scrap, it's 90+ tons at $100/ton, just $9000.
i have xell it komastu 475a -2 2004 with ripper running for $80000,00us from Kentucky ??i have sell it 298 bulldozers in the world i know the market next year i have sell it 375a -3 1996 with engine new and undercarriage nnew ffor 85000,00us from montreal many many people only bla bla bla
Its nothing wrong just í need new bateries and strarting fluid and love its start and runs
Does it still start??
It probably has a blown engine or transmission. Why else would anyone abandon a half-million dollar dozer? If it's not going to cost more to fix it than it's worth?
Lol no it doesn't it's because it costs 100k to move and then store elsewhere easier this way
If it had 50,000 + hours and been worked 10 + years........the cost to move it is very high and it probably needs a major overhaul.
Brian Mayhead. I'd love to hear if you got anywhere with your request. I figure the engine blew up.
By an old CATERPILLAR I have A 1956 D8 Cat , i was born in 1954 ,when you can be proficient with that you can run them all.
I'll sell it to you, wirer me $30,000 and you can take her away. 8-)
Yeah, Sure. Toooo cheap. Sounds like a scam.
Shit! That was a 1.3 million dollar dozer at one time. I'd give it some TLC and put it back to work.
You think the owners would want this back. Someone would.
It's on the coal mines property. They're well aware it's there
Cool Video
Thanks for watching !
Damn guy, if it's really abandoned, hook a chain on to it and tow it to the scrap metal dealers and get your some free cash for it.......
Good luck with that..its a 108+Tonnes in weight..
@@garethifan1034 Oh hell, my 1976 Suburu Brat with 287,000 miles could tow that thing anywhere....
I could get that thing running and open my own business
Man there are no tyres to make this go only a metal caterpillar track, just make do a cold start and give it a go
Seen this machine 5 years ago ,its probably covered in weeds & vines now.
Actually no, They took it away about 2 years ago,, Thanks for watching
They got this stuff in Trevorton pa as well as shamokin pa.
Why would anyone abandon that. You would think they would at least take parts. That's a very expensive machine.
nothing has been taken off, look at the engine! everything is still there.
Donald Woods that's what I'm sayin'.
Tracks are shot, sprockets are worn out, imagine the rails are too. It isn't even worth loading for scrap
@ The blade is worn through I'm sure it's missing more stuff we can't see.... Plus the cost of having that monster moved. Truck oversize permits and it's a little large for anything but minimg
It ain't abandoned , it's stolen !! There were two of them , rented out to three Rivers co for the Archibald pothole job , when the job ended they were moved to Hazleton for a mine rec job , sweet valley contractors I believe was the company , one of them burnt up and that on top of other problems the company bailed on the job. , furnival and komatsu of America looked for them for years , funny cause I know at least 10 people who knew where this one was sitting
wow,,, really?,,, that's crazy,,, this thing has been sitting here for years !
deepdishpies hell when they were offering up money a local undercarriage dealer john Williams was everywhere from tamaqua to Carbondale looking for it and he couldn't find it !! from what I heard the principle in three rivers ( Russell something ) said fuck it , run it into the ground !! and they did .
@@dustywelchcraneman6614 I think it went to Logan, West Virginia, in the southern part of the state. I grew up in the coal fields in Boone County, WV
@@brandysigmon9066 The Wild and Wonderful Whites,....Good `ol Jessico....
Why do you think it’s there? Is there any construction near by that this machine might have been involved in? Seems odd someone would abandon a 3/4 of a million dollar machine for no reason? Even the scrap value is over 20k. I bet he had a note on it that he could not pay therefore could not sell. Shame.
It was used in the coal mining industry... there are mine shafts and strip mines all around the area
A lot of mines leave the equipment when done. There equipment all over WV that's been left
Good luck trying to get a scrap yard to buy it
Billy Hobbs why would they just leave it or any kind of mining equipment? Just curious. Seems like a waste to leave funtional to semi-funtional equipment like this just to write it off on taxes. Im surprised the insurance cimpany doesnt step in and stop that kind of waste
These mine site dozers are so big that they can't be shipped to location fully assembled, the major assembly parts are assembled on the mining job site. Good luck with your cutting torch to drag that out of it's grave, at least old ships can be grounded at the scrap yards but that beast died and is now it's permanent grave marker.
Fire it up Buttercup!!!
Did anyone else see the weed plants ?
lol, didn't notice,,
Yes probably just cleaned the bag LOL. 1:35

Where was that, great video shame you couldn't spark it up
Sell it. Or it is for giveaway this channel. So usefull
You show vegana and give 1000€ me
Some times constriction companys hide equipmen to avoid repo... or go broke ..some equipment just gets lost...
It a crying shame to see things like this go to waist .Just goes to show you that people have got more money than sense
Dallas Crane I know she's still a beautiful machine
yes she is and it would look even better if some one would get it up and running again
Dallas Crane honest it probably will turn over try new batteries new clean fuel and fluids and glow plugs she should fire up.
yes but if no one wants it they can ship it over hear to Australia for me I will get it working no problems
Dallas Crane thing weights 95 tonnes just to haul it would be alot to ship it wouldn't be worth it. That's alot of money to do that
That's one worn out old dozer I'll bet the hours on it are tremendous just looking at the grousers and sprockets let alone the blade you can tell why this was parked and forgotten.
Strange how the seat was in such good nick.
Great video! Thanks for sharing
is that hemp growing arround , make a coffeeshop out of it 😁
Many people have said that,, I was so busy drooling over the dozer I didn't notice, lol,, Ironically, I was operating one a few years later, . Thanks for watching
Sheppton pa this piece of equipment was left behind after the roof of the mine collapsed three miners were trapped in the mine two survived one died
Wyatt Carson this dozer is from the 80s, the mine collapse happend in 1963.
Hey Parker Schnabel or Rick could use this up north! I would love to run it.
How the hell are u supposed to move that it weighs more than a tank
Torches
Don't blame them for leaving it. Done it's work and worn out and needs a bottom. Good place fore it. Maybe needs Engine also.
I could get it running again it has a Cummins engine in it..
Chris Cardoza we could all get that baby going lol
Can't see the chain but the pads/grousers are worn out lots of cracks in the blade it looks like so that will need resurfacing . Cant be worth the cost of disassembling/reassembling to move the thing or it would be moved already. Big dozer thought to be sure
Could check the fluids and charge the batteries and 20 gallon of diesel
Oh, Ashley, I'm so glad that you were able to keep in touch mommy while your spoiled ass was in France. Well done!
E papare, respekt per krijuesit ,respekt per mendjen njerezore.😀😀😀😀😀
Hell son start it up bring it to life
Son? She is a chicky
Fix her up get her running again
Tracks are SHOT!
They've definitely improved over the years but ya cat beat them cats.
Colton Carpenter
The new Liebherrs are nice to operate, but still a few bugs.
hi mark do you have komastu 375a 3 or 375a -6 with ripper for sale from jeanmauriceboutin@videotron.ca
thanks
Cost more to move it than its worth , I seen these large pieces setting at different places , I ask an owner one time. And that's what he said.
Thanks for watching
I cut a td 15 up when metal prices were up and done really well.
The only way it’s not worth moving is if it had catastrophic failures to the engine and transmission. These types of machines are only used on long term job sites. It would also be worth moving for scrap, probably on three truckloads.
@@donnebes9421 Komatsu is a good machine. I used to drive a Komatsu HD785 Haul Truck, Darn good machine. Thanks for watching
Sad, but around here, they do,,,, here's a LOT of scrap metal,,,, ua-cam.com/video/RyvffSVZP44/v-deo.html
As you can see the track shoes are at the end of their life as the grousers are almost gone. big tractors like this and D10 & 11 Cats were used in open pit type mining. That's the only place it is economical to operate them. If nobody needs them mines park them just like big draglines and walk away.
nah you will see them on bigger earth moving jobs..not just mining
Even on those gigs, they tend to be project based. Purchased/leased for the project.
not really every big const company in my area have a few d11r's a lot of 10's.. same with the big scrapers lots of 657's around
Why isn't anyone getting this thing running?
Been sitting here quiet a few years,,,, don't know why they just let it sit here and rot,,,,
It's probably holding a bond on the property. We do this on property sometimes. The land is still under bond and if a machine is still present the bond is still considered "active" meaning if coal prices spike or limestone prices spike they go in and dig again and get those materials without applying for a new permit and bond.
@@dustywelchcraneman6614 Thanks for that info,,,, I didn't know that
@@DDExplores that and if this machine is owned by a contract earth mover, this thing could just be waiting for it's next job because moving these machines is as monumental as what they are capable of.
Is thaat pot growing behind it
Does it really weigh over 80 tons?
I looked up the specs,,,,,operating weight is 188,495,,,,That's a heavy machine,,, ,,, ,,,,,, The truck I used to drive weighed 366,000 lbs,,,, it was a Komatsu 785-7
If an object, lets say that bulldozer, gets abandoned is it up for grabs?
Heavy equipment is generally not titled, so I would say yes, as long as it's on public land. But, the cost of breaking it down, transportation, reassembly, and fixing everything that went to hell over the years, would greatly exceed it's value.
@die warlock only thing you own is a keyboard
Just saw this yesterday. Still hasn't moved. But someone did break out the front window.
The longer it sits,,,, the worse it will get,,,, :(
where is this

It's gone now. Somebody told me it was scrapped. Thanks for watching
I don't think they'll get it moving any time soon.
Sold me. i have a low bed ready
Big Beast my style
Go grab 4 batteries put them in parallel bring a pick set or send me the address. I will go get her

Transport license alone would put most folks in the poor house.
@@dustywelchcraneman6614 exactly , keep one or two pieces around to keep the permits good just in case its worth going back in. All mines do this
