Labour and Gaza: Resignations follow the party's latest diktat

- Опубліковано 11 жов 2024
- Labour MPs, councillors and party members have been told not to attend pro-Palestinian rallies. Discussion of the ongoing Israel situation in party meetings has been vetoed. Labour councillors have resigned in disgust at Starmer's support for Israel's siege of Gaza and lack of solidarity for the Palestinian people. We talked to former party Officers from CLPs in Edinburgh and Glasgow about why they resigned their posts and what can be done to combat the latest wave of Labour Party authoritarianism.

Vote starmer out to vote labour. Do to him what he did to JC. I think he unelectable.
🤔 Vote that person out? Who will do that? Unelectable? Not while the effing sheeple fail to see him for what he is . . . a traitor to the working class and to every socialist principle.
He's not unelectable for disillusioned Tories and Blairites, which is his target demographic
EXCELLENT ❤ THERE IS HOPE FOR THE LABOUR PARTY YET ❤ LET THE RESIGNATIONS CONTINUE
Starmer has to go ..he is a puppet of Tony Blair, Peter Mandelson is his ‘ handler ‘ Peter Mandelson is always in the shadows.
Never a fan of Stamer but WAS going to vote for labour next year to get the Tories out. Can't justify it now.
Its not just Starver its the gaggle of Tories in his shadow cabinet as well all just as eager to follow his lead in supporting war crimes, even eager to continue the sell off of the NHS. Starver it seems is intent to make real his view that we have too much democracy learnt as a member of the Trilateral commission that he is an asset of.
Just vote for anyone except the main 2 Tory parties. It's the only way
@@kyllerbuzcut Agreed. UKIP managed to influence both the Tories and Labour without winning a seat. The left must be able to do the same as that sad bunch or what use are we?
I wouldn't vote a party that already said the comments they did, one been women are 99.9% biology 🙈 but the left, which is the minority, only defend what suit their narrative, when it was clear that women was been bullied, it was on TV for all to watch, so to me that was enough to know what Labour are about.
@@kyllerbuzcutmake that four. Parties Liberals and Greens they are all one globalist bunch ,
Starmer once said : I am a Zionist, no ‘ifs’ and no ‘buts’. How he speaks and behaves logically follows. The question is: what needs to be done that an ordinary voters notice and vote him out?
I think more people do notice, but they're too afraid to lay their cards on the table. It's also the denial that the left has been taken over by the far right (Zionist, as you say). But there must be some old Labour still left, going by the resignations.
The question is: Why?
There is no Labour Party.
You guys have some sound principles. Thank you and we need many more people like you, truly inspirational.
Gaza aside for a min.The problem is the majority of Labour working class voters don't know the half of it about Starmer, they seriously think things will improve when Labour get in power. They're are going to be extremely disappointed and pissed off when they learn after 5 years that absolutely nothing as improved in their lives under his government. The far right are going to have a field day and hoover up all that anger and discontent, and it will be all Starver and his red Tories fault. Not that they'll give a shit, because they're all in it for themselves and not what's good for the UK.
I think I agree - we are facked
Where's Raynor?
@@lehanedermot Working on becoming a Lords peer, that's where.
One term as a crp PM and Starver will be applying for an American green card.
No truer words spoken. Sums up our two (Scotland & England) countries future perfectly. I just don't know why more people can't see it! Tory Capitalism is an economic & social death cult
Not a party member here, but the Copeland officers have largely had enough too....
Starmer has single-handedly seen to it that the party has been torn apart. :(
that was his job
Starmer obviously made a promise to someone that he's kept, to destroy the LP. It's been his only unchanged policy.
Labor party members should have a say in who is appointed leader.
Like Raynor who can't even say what a woman is 🙈🤣 No thanks, I'm not just a feeling, I'm a woman who as struggles that Labour dismiss for a globalist agenda.
They did and the A holes voted for starver .so much for the great unwashed voters (politically speaking that is) Beware Right wing labour they'll sell us all out .The trade union unite and others should shoulder the responsibility for voting for starmer that bint Graham needs to go along with the unite upper echelons.
We need a new party that will represent the ordinary people of Scotland and the rest of the UK.
The logic is unavoidable, if we allow one instance of a country breaking international law, or supporting one doing so, that makes us complicit in the crime committed. Further, we cannot expect protection ourselves under the same laws in future, from politicians who support war crimes abroad when they act at home.
Blue rinse Starmer . Proper Tory Boy .
#StarmerOut
I will not vote Labour this time. As a nation we are at the cross road, we need a man who has no fear of media, who is not a puppet. we either ask some one as Gordon Brown to come in as a future prime minister the man who we trust and know he has no fear of media or other organisations. Or we have to go into Coalition with the Liberal Democrat’s. We should not send one party with majority to govern. NOT STARMER FOR SURE. THE MAN IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY.
The only way to get rid of starmer is for labour to lose in the general election. The sad thing is there is no other alternative party to oppose the Conservative. Still I won't be voting for labour again.
I wouldn't of anyways, look how they've treated women & that's alpt of working class vulnerable women they dismiss for an agenda that hasn't worked anywhere else, it's these leftist, they think that their the majority 😂 its kinda funny how big of an ego some of these have.
Solidarity and respect to Vince Mills, Ross Parker and Mike Cowley. I don't share your views on Scottish Independence, but voted for Labour (to support Corbyn) in 2019 - after ditching Labour over its action during Indyref. I have a good pro-Palestine SNP MP, who is supportive of Assange, who I will vote for until a Left alternative in Scotland. I called the Asian Labour Lothian MSP, Foysol Chaudhury, to resign over this issue. I got a polite reply from my two Labour MSPs over this issue. I did't vote for any of the mainstream parties' MSPs in the last few elections.
Its great that you resist. Without a party to go to resigning is futile - it wastes what power we do have as members/CLP-officers. We need to get this guy out. The people of Gaza need us to do what we can but also people affected by many other issues in this country need us to resist kid-starver.
Doh,
We can't talk about WCRIMES while the war is ongoing....
Clues in the name Kier😔
There’s nothing looks quite so pathetic as a leader issuing inatruction and being ignored -still-a-member-for-now
well said down with starmers labour Blair. hodge. mandelson. and the front bench we need the Tory's out definitely but starmers labour is a no way with him cruel Tory's.and another cruel Starmer labour no no no no must Go
Bring Back Corbyn
The Labour Party has developed an identity crisis.
Indeed.
Labour didnt win, the Totirs lost.
It's an open goal & Starmer still can score😔
Starmer will never get the ball in the net. He's there to throw the game for the left.
@@therealrobertbirchallhe's got the politician ego but yes, he's not there to take Labour into government, far from it.
@@therealrobertbirchall Yep, the left can have him to, all slippery does is fence sit & when he does speak he exposes who he really is, like his 99.9% percentage on female biology, if you cant be honest on facts like that & prevent misogyny with towards your own members, what do ppl expect on this.
Starmer is like a spoiled, petulant child who when the game of football isn't going his way, picks up his ball and goes home!
Mike, Vince and Richard. Good to hear folk like yourselves are showing genuine solidarity with the people of Palestine. Great, democratic, healthy and crucially necessary discussion fro you all.
As you’ll know I’m not a LP member. However, I’m saddened and angry that this current leadership tried to stifle anyone who is calling for a ceasefire.
✊🇵🇸☮️
Can you not create a new, really left party in Britain?
Thank you solidarity 😊
Starmer made this dangerous comment on TV interview. Can political party do this to their party members “ issue gaging orders”?
In situations like this, at least we get to find out who are the people who have a functioning moral compass.
Will you progress your political careers or will you stand for humanity ?? Simple
I am amazed anyone is still in the Labour Party after the last 22 years of war support
Can't call Starmer's complete moral failure on Gaza a 'miscalculation' surely, and 'Rowing back' does not bring anyone back to life
PS his wife is Jewish so of course he will support Israel.
Not necessarily. There are many pro Palestinian and even anti Zionist Jews. I personally know some, and of course Starmer has expelled more Jews than any other Labour leader.
But he is supporting the zionist regime.many jews are with palestine...
His wife is an Israeli, and her religion is Judaism, Jewish is not an ethnicity it’s a religion.
Always voted labour but I can't with this guy on the helm!
The fact that his wife is Jewish should not influence his behaviour as leader of a party, worse still, a leader if a country if......
SO GIVE US A NEW PARTY WORTH VOTING FOR!!!!!!
Patriotic calling the entire world to see the Truth and provide fairness to the Palestinian people vs Israeli occupation
Starmer must go!
Starmer must have been a terrific human rights lawyer.
Satire?
Thanks for a good laugh , in the dystopian times
❤
Now you take a stand on what is happening now in Gaza, but what about the situation in the West Bank where have you been on that ongoing horror?
There should be a vote of no confidence in starmer as he doesn't instill Labour values.
Adults should always refuse the gag! That's the point of being an adult.
I was baffled by British government from abstaining for a ceasefire and that US vetoed against a ceasefire 🤯 they talked about long lasting peace in Middle East but they didn’t want a ceasefire but war its mind boggling 🤯
I respect what Vince and Ross have done and their integrity. But this isn't just about internal party lack of democracy (which isn't new) but about a party being complicit in what could turn into genocide, certainly ethnic cleansing and in the growing suffering of two million Palestinians (and escalating in the West Bank). I couldn't be a member of such a party. I left not long after Starmer was elected but if I hadn't I would leave today. As I said it is up to each individual member. I hope, however, there will be growing resignations.
During the protest in Belfast yesterday Biden Sunaks and Ursula's name was booed .
Expel the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland was the cry by thousands ☘️🍉🕊️
Starmer against a united Ireland and a free Palestine 🇵🇸🇮🇪🕊️
This makes me think about an incident in my life 30+ years ago.
I'll say this: the American south has been historically hostile to people who look like me.
One hot summer day, me and a friend were sitting on his porch...eating watermelon.
It was hot and the watermelons were...I can't remember the name...REALLY f*cking good! Honestly, till this day I still remember how good that watermelon was.
Anywhoo, as we're eating the watermelons, not thinking about how it looked, an elderly white couple drove by, really slow, and both of them were looking right at us and we ended up looking right at them.
CONTEXT: me and my friend were both...at the time, the type to constantly debate people about racism in America and its historical context - we were both college students with majors in the social sciences.
After the couple passed, we realized we had just personified a racist trope: we were two (not white) boys sitting on a porch eating watermelon.
We genuinely regretted letting that couple see that...we still finished the watermelon because they were that good. I really wish I could remember the name of the watermelon.
The point of the story?
I wonder if some Jews feel like I felt that day.
There's a trope about 'Jews secretly running the world' and now the effect of various Jewish interests groups on the politics of the UK/US/etc is a growing story.
What these groups did is no different than what any other special interest group does but because it's for Jewish interests...it plays right into the trope.
I remember thinking it would've been fine if we were just sitting there talking or doing ANYTHING other than eating watermelon.
I wonder if some Jews wish Israel was guilty of almost anything else besides being seeing as trying to secretly influence world politics?
Starmer is spineless and sunak is corrupt... What has happened to British politics
Labour has lost
We need a Unity Labour Socialist Party.
I would never vote for any of the main political parties , they’re all complicit in the dystopian 1984 trend these past four years
I won't be voting for labour unfortunately because of Starver. Mr Starmer is starting for power, he is in it for himself, we know who's pulling his strings, the role of lobbyists, special interest, the influence of money and campaign financing are all at stake if he does not kiss the ring.
Labour is a dead duck with the current set up!
Leader or dictator?
Vince talks a lot of sense. Grin and bare a right-wing Labour Gov. just because it's under the Labour brand, and it could usher in an even more right-wing Tory Gov. after, with Labour having been deemed a failure to change anything, thus ensuring another decade or more in the wilderness. The trajectory needs to radically change.
The Labour Party is not the Communist Party, and resign , pushed or sacked for not following the party line, I’m all for it. It’s high time Corbyn joined you lot, although I suspect he’s has been for about 60 years.
Why sre you in the Labour party yhe psle Tories WTF
The hierarchy of racism is misleading. The issue isn't that Labour cares more about antisemitism than other forms of racism but that Labour weaponised antisemitism and smeared people who were not and are not antisemites. I'm Jewish. I know what antisemitism is. It isn't what Starmer and others say it is.
there are many want to vote to liberal Democrats
Starmers wife is a Jew so he has a horse in this particular race. He's got the same views as Sunak so that's no use to working class people. He's a red tory .
Where is the condemnation of Hamas from the left .They list quite happily the crimes of Israel against Palestinains but seem to have developed amnesia when it comes to the terrorist organisation Hamas .Hamas are committed to the total destruction of Israel .Not only that they are also deeply homophobic , misogynist and anti trade union the very opposite of everything the Labour left stands for and fight against. Instead of criticising the Labour Party let's have you criticising Hamas .Perhaps you should be not be Labour Party members if you refuse to condemn Hamas .
So kicking out millions, stealing most of their land, corralling people into tiny strips of Bantustans and open concentration camp that is Gaza. The controlling of food, water, electricity and imposing Apartheid and continuing to impose 1600 military orders that has seen 1 in 5 Palestinian incl children imprisoned. The killing and murdering with impunity including all peaceful attempts to protests is not a problem?
The collective pu war crimes and genocide can be justified?
They have dropped more bombs in 6 days then the US did in the first year in Afghanistan.
They are using illegal chemical weapons.
Meanwhile as more homes and land are stolen the west mouth platitudes on a two countries solution knowing that it is impossible as the fascist Settler regime has occupied most of the land supposedly for Palestinians.
That's a given. Commentators like Owen Jones begin with condemning Hamas and even that isn't enough. There is plenty of Hamas condemnation going on in the media but no support for Palestinians. Do you ever hear media demanding pro Israel commentator condemn Israeli atrocities, of which there have been many over the decades?
So the racist Apartheid State of Israel which has illegally taken over most of the land as coloniser settlers, killed, imprisoned, use chemical and carpet bombings, and have publically called out for their extermination as animals and snakes in Knesset are the people you support?
Yesterday's demo sa Queers against pink washing Apartheid, trade unions, women's groups, people of all faith and none.
We call out grotesque genocide and war crimes that are actually trying to wipe out all Palestinian. Not justify or be apologist for this 75 years of ongoing Nakba
Yes now that we have an entrenched hierarchy of racism where AS is weaponised and used to kick out over 60 Jews and which treats black/POC racism with distain and encourages Islamaphobia and has moved so far to the right is certainly the right place for racists like you.
Israel is built on zionist ideology , not Judaism.
Promo-SM
Funny how hes a zionist but can never be a jew . But has a jewish wife who in all probability has links to israel ...and no im not infering anything ...but it would explain a few things bothering labour supporters .. 😂😂😂
His wife and children have de facto dual citizenship and have a right to reside in Israel (on occupied land).
@@lat1419 his wife and children mean nothing to me ...its his longing to be a jew that can never happen that I laugh at .. 😂😂😂😂😂😂🇯🇴🇯🇴🇯🇴🇯🇴🇯🇴🇯🇴👊👊👊
@@kassemsaid8686 sorry to burst your bubble. It used possible to convert to judaism. Often used by those fathered by non religious Jewish men, married to non Jewish women.
Nice to see Antisemitism still has a hold of the Labour Party
Don't come out with that disgusting ignorant garbage. There are millions of Jewish comrades who are anti Zionist. I personally know some, and there were many on the marches. The march to Congress in Washington was lead by Jews. And no, they are not self hating. They are proud Jews who hate injustice, which is completely in accordance with their faith. There are also many Jewish pro Palestinian and anti Zionist groups e.g. Jewish Voice for Labour, Jewish Voice for Peace, International Jewish Anti-Zionist Movement, Neturei Karta, Torah Jews. If you want to talk about antisemitism in the Labour Party, look to Starmer, who has expelled more Jews than any other Labour leader.
Nice to see a someone who joined YT this week, has only one comment, raised AS in this way.
@@lat1419 I suppose when you joined you automatically got 8 yrs 🤡
Yep always handy to label and weaponise AS against anyone challenging the racist Apartheid State of Israel and the mendacity and trashing of Labour's supposed values for Justice.
We have seen through your orchestrated attacks on anyone calling out the Apartheid State of and it's apologists like you.
Unbelievable statement , what’s wrong with you ,
Won’t vote for labour due to Starmer. He’s an opportunist chancer.
