The Ambrosian Rite (the Rite unique to the Archdiocese of Milan, Italy) exchanges the sign of peace before the gifts of bread and wine are brought forward, recalling Jesus' words in the Gospel.
The sign of peace is not done in Tridentine rite? How is it ancient? So when was it omitted prior to Trent? I also attend Byzantine Ruthenian rite they don't do it either. Just wondering.

Do not like the sign of peace. It has turned into a social event. Sighn to my husband that’s it.
