    When you cut a bit high on that flush cut of the grade board if you come back with a disc grinder with a flapper wheel it will take the top off of that board in an instant. Great work boys!

    I might overthink stuff but been a finish carpenter for 20yrs & when I install exterior doors with a threshold I fill the inside half under the threshold with a heavy duty liquid nail/pl to dry hard like a shim so the threshold don’t bounce & the outside half with a playable waterproof silicone to get best of both worlds..just my experience works best

    I have watched your videos for many months now. I am impressed with your work dedication to perfection, not practiced much these days . Moisture is your worst enemy and after watching all the steps taken to stop it on the door installation I have one suggestion that I have tried. To stop moisture from wicking up the side frame boards , I have removed the aluminum threshold plate and primed and caulked the board ends. Reattach the threshold plate compressing the caulking out and wipe clean

    I just dumped all my Team Yellow from that vintage (18VDC NiCd). I bought new NiCd batteries for it about 18 months ago, and they lasted about 12 months before they failed. I could have gone the XRP Adapter, and said NO...I wasn't going to spend $50 for the adapter, then another $200 on batteries on nearly 20 year old tools. Went Team Red...$500 got me brushless drill, impact driver, light, circular saw, single hand sawzall, and a multi-tool. ALL brushless. It also came with a 6Ah Battery and a 3Ah battery with charger. VERY happy with that upgrade. :)

    • @BLKMGK4
      @BLKMGK4 8 місяців тому +1

      Seriously considering this myself, I'm using cheap adapters but the yellow batteries still die too damn often and when you test them it's usually just ONE cell killing the pack. Red is looking REALLY tempting dammit!

    • @WreckDiver99
      @WreckDiver99 8 місяців тому +1

      @@BLKMGK4I know people that went Team Yellow with the Li-Ion and are very happy. I opted for Team Red because many people I know moved to them and have been beyond happy. I do wish the batteries were a little less. Holy freaking wah. Kyle must have $10K in batteries in that trailer! LOL.

    I've learned so much from your videos. Even Ambition strikes people. QUESTION: Why install this door so far out and restrict the opening to 90 degrees? If you make a jamb extension you can get the full 180 degree opening. This install would benefit from it for sure but more work trimming it out.

  • @ted7x

    When I do this I first check the concrete for level and will adjust the jamb height if the concrete is more than a 1/4” out of level. Using a 1/4”+ of grout allows me to get a perfect level threshold. Because if your sill isn’t perfect, then those will be reflected in your reveal/door closer/seals.

    Kyle, First thank you for the content. I am a crane operator and safety coordinator for a company out of Ohio so if you ever have any questions feel free to ask. Also I started in roofing and our gable ends we always himed our first and last sheets down folding them over a side trim similar to how you locked in the bottom piece (just an idea if you want to try). Lastly have you ever worked with metal trusses on post frame buildings? I am trying to find details on insulating with metal trusses.

    Your videos have been such a great learning resource for me! I'm curious though, why install the door so far out and limit the opening to 90 degrees? Wouldn't extending the jamb for a full 180-degree opening be beneficial? It seems like it would require some extra trimming, but it could really enhance the functionality. Keep up the awesome work!!

    I’m about to renovate an old metal building that has all the siding horizontal. I noticed most if not all of your projects deal with the ribbing in the vertical and I already see the advantage for water drainage, fitting windows and doors, etc. But would you suggest I replace all the metal with vertical layout or is there a way to properly compensate with the less than ideal horizontal when sealing windows and doors. I’m new to this and really perplexed with the horizontal and already running into problems!

    On one hand, the roll formed sheet makes it different from usual installs, but there's no drywall, plaster, wood siding, stucco, etc, to complicate things.
    I just did a door in old construction where the entire framed wall was leaning over 1 inch. Worst I ever encountered, but it didn't really change how I install doors. I always show up with lots of shims. For thresholds, I bring aluminum to shim with. All my shims get glued. For shimming jams, I put them all in, make sure it's all plumb, true, level, then drop crazy glue on the shims so they don't move while I set fasteners, and trim off the excess shimming.
