I was coming in to mention Genesis’s “Seconds Out” as the only live album that I would put above “Exit Stage Left” (I don’t own the other two that you mentioned)
@@theoriginalrushman6620me too for that very reason, it was raw and incredible But I think most pundits would pick stage left because it was a better production… It’s Rush, how can you go wrong
Love it, though my one issue is, it lacks the flow of a concert experience, like the rest of their live releases. It feels like a bunch of live songs thrown together. The tracks were picked from multiple tours, and it feels like it. For my money, I'll take the 2 nights from Toronto that were released with the MP 40TH anniversary box (if only for the awesome version of TCE!)
I saw Rush seven times, the first being a date on their Exit ... Stage Left tour. The album holds a special place in my collection for that reason, and also because it's a terrific selection of songs. But, after the glorious raw racket of All The World's a Stage, I've always found ESL lacking in fire and sonically disappointing. A little muddy even. That said, I played it to death when I was a student, and many times since.
Why is no-one saying aloud what we all know? Exit Stage Left is a mock-up live album, it's no more live than the original Live & Dangerous, or Origin Of The Faeces (or, to go further back in time, Beauty & The Beat or Festival Session). The fact so many eras of Rush are documented in the post-Laser Media "above-ground bootlegs" removes every last shred of need to own this sterilised sham.
@ I didn't know that about Exit, but I don't mind letting them fool me. If it's supposed to be a live album, I take it at face value. To me, it's just for enjoyment like letting yourself "believe" the story line in a movie. How many "live" albums are genuine, anyway?
Love that bass tone on freewill 😊😊😊
Rock on !!
Seen em live one time live in 2015 in
Nashville at Bridgestone arena

I like your necromancer theme music. It's one of my favorite Rush songs.
@@DF-ee8vt Thanks mine too it’s the joyful sound of freedom!

"By-tor & The Snow Dog" and "Beneath, Between, and Behind" are both on Fly By Night, the second album.
@@williamthurman9082 same album Fly by Night

@@richardp18 yes I am hearing the word muddy a lot, but I always thought it was to clean.
Interestingly enough, I think All the World's a Stage sounds fine, and Exit . . . Stage Left sounds a little muddy.
@@DF-ee8vt I like All The Worlds A Stage better myself
