I hate rob sooo much. The fact that he just heard his wife is dying, and then asks how long shes gonna live so he has an estomate for her life insurance- and everyrhing else jes done with killing their kid during an affair and gaslighting her into thinking shes the one responsible for sarahs death.. and then continuing to keep like 5 other affairs. He deserved his death soo much.
I wanted to watch the show but this kind of spoils it lol

Back then, women were heavily dependent on their husband's to survive. Makes sense that in the time if she gets divorced, her life is literally over.
Yep, they couldn't even have bank accounts with permission.
And that's why alimony was created, the women back then legit needed it. Not so much now, since they can work and earn money all they can. But the dudes should be still be paying child support.

Yep. Happened to me. But the diagnosis of MS was wrong. I have Lupus. Forty years later & I'm a healthy 75 year old. He had been sick for quite awhile & passed away a few years ago.
I think this is set before no fault divorce, I'm not sure, tho. But today, this is a sad fact.
As a man, I encourage women to please value yourselves more and partner with men who are true partners. I watched my mom suffer with my awful father for my entire childhood. He was a very selfish, dishonest, and disloyal man. He died a few years ago and my mom got all of his money. This is the happiest I have ever seen her and she moved on with a nice retired military man who was also a recent widow. I am so happy for her. However, she recently admitted to me that she would still be married to my father if he was alive, because she didn’t know how to leave, even though she was miserable, which she also admitted. Value yourself and know your worth. As a gay man, I have lots of friendships with women, and most are in unhappy relationships/marriages with horrible men. It’s time to change the narrative. These men only win if you stay.

I'd say she would still every season of every other show, but actors in second story line (about gay husband) both were phenomenal as well. I really couldnt decide which story line I want to see more.But thats my opinion

I'm so sorry, that had to be heartbreaking and stressful.
This scene also doesn't really end with the husband staying with her. If I remember correctly she tells him that she has 6 months to live. Husband "cries" but after their conversation he tells his lover that he is going to be a widower and that they are going to be together. So her plan to make him stay didn't work at all.
I know that there are also good men, but yeah, some men are just selfish. I hope you are doing ok. And I hope you defeated your cancer (or at least that you're living your life to the fullest).

Narcissists tend to leave their spouses during illnesses, because they do not want to exert any effort helping, and also because they know that their spouse can no longer be the one pampering their needs. Some narcissists do stay so they look like the supportive spouse (the hero) but do absolutely nothing behind closed doors.
If he left and he’s like this, count your blessings that he’s gone. I hope you’re surrounded by loving and positive people who truly care about you.

My opinion: season 1 was the best and the o ly one worth watching, my personal favourite.
Season one was the best, but I didn’t hate season two. I wish they would have made way more of season one though.
I wish they would have mirrored the layout of season 2 after season 1. At least we would have gotten a break from Alma and her nonsense 😅.
I really like season 2, not as much as season 1 mind you... but I did really enjoy it and I would recommend it to people. Different tastes, I guess.

I hurt my back while I was engaged. Next thing I'm being told I'm annoying and all kinds of bs. I have no doubt in my mind he wanted out due to my injury. Plus I think he was already cheating BC he married less than a year later.
When I was diagnosed with a condition much like MS, it was the last time I saw my boyfriend of multiple years. It turned out that he had multiple other relationships while we were dating.
The worst part of this is I actually was diagnosed with this specific cancer when I was 16 ! I had never heard of it as it is very rare and this is the first I have seen it included in any program
She shouldny have went for six months. If she had said it would be a year or two i dont think he would have jumped to proposing to April.

Beth Ann is a very lonely character. She smiles but masks her pain and loneliness because she wants a marriage. She never loved herself nor did she ever feel confident. In real life, a woman would go mental living with a man like Rob. She would probably become suicidal.
Rob was a horrible husband. He never offered her emotional availability, security or safety. He never boosted her self esteem. In fact, he gaslighted her, made her feel bad about herself and made her second guess herself. In real life, such a man would even make her feel ugly and undesirable.
Rob has obviously spiralled emotionally and psychologically and needs serious help. Normal people don’t get happy when someone suffers from cancer.
They say that men who are serial cheaters often have anger issues due to the guilt and shame of their affairs. They tend to take their anger out on their spouse and kids randomly.
I didn't like when Beth didn't make up with Shiela after their fight. She knew she was a good friend and was upset with her, at least one attempt to sort things out was needed. Anyways binged watches the whole series and loved it
I could never understand why a woman would want to stay with a man who doesn't want her exclusively. I've never been that desperate. I found out my husband was cheating on me & I filed for divorce the next day.
She lived in a time where women had few options outside marriage.

I think pretending to have cancer is not only despicable and mentally fucked it but it opens the door for karma to send you the real thing.
Her husband convinced her she was responsible for her daughters death even when he knew it was a result of him cheating with another woman in their home and now he has gotten another woman pregnant. Kinda shitty in both sides
Maybe so, however he cheated with multiple different women and got one of them pregnant. One of his previous affairs resulted in the death of his daughter, and despite knowing the women he cheated with was the one who left the gate open for the child to run into the road, he blamed it on his wife and made her live with that guilt for nearly the rest of her life. After hearing she had cancer, he also asked how long she had left and proposed to the woman he got pregnant.
Next time, try researching a show before assuming.

He’s awful, but it’s never okay to lie about something as serious as cancer. That’s horrible.
