I think the handprints are a reference to tegata. For me I think they are Sumo wrestler hand prints and I was hoping the signatures might be close to some current Rikishi.
It's been said before, but the level of detail in these games is astounding. You can tell the design was a real labour of love (despite of course being very profitable!) and when I see these things I always think of someone on the design team deciding to go the extra mile just to make every detail special and perfect and want to shake their hand!

What about Dai from the dragon quest manga Adventure of Dai? The hair is doing that leaning to one side spiky design and I think I see an x scar on one cheek. It kind of looks like a mirror flip of one of the first google images of that character. Plus it started in 1989.
Tbh I kinda thought it was black star from soul eater, the hair matches up and in the acnh drawing the character seems to be wearing a scarf too but the I think manga of soul eater was made in 2004 so the dates wouldn’t match up with the others :/

#6 in my opinion looks like a homage to golden bat which is the oldest japanese superhero. Theres a character named Penny who actually for Steven universe fans, is who the looks of lapiz lazuli is based off of.
For anyone who's confused by the hand print cards, they are called tegata, autographed handprints of elite division sumo wrestlers! In japan they can catch quite a price, especially for yokozuna, grand champions, but are also given away as promotional deals with companies that buddy up with the rikishi themselves. An example is Endo, a popular native wrestler who has a long running brand deal with the good company Nagatanien. Wresters like my own teacher who are retired especially drive up prices due to the limited availability of their tegatas post retirement.

i know absolutely nothing about Japanese, as a native English speaker typically the hardest languages for us to learn are derivatives that aren't of Germanic, Latin, and greed descent like most Slavic and Asian languages which have formed their own alphabet and pronunciations and native languages such as Na-Dene, Welsh, and Swahili, although hardest can seem like a deterrent for learning them, its not too difficult, just need discipline and time.
