Hey, just because the Prince picked Cinderella doesn't mean that other people at the ball didn't find love. Imagine all the towns people all dressed up and going to the event. People who had crushes on each other had an excuse to get all fancy and dance together. There's a whoooole lot of room for romance as background characters.

You say in a joyful yet quite funny and fast tone.
The guard stops for a moment and looks at you and say:

A concept:
Putting on your fanciest dress that always sits in the back of your closet because you have no where to go. Then putting in wireless earbuds, and dancing around your living room barefoot while home alone. If you close your eyes it almost feels like you're in the movie, dancing around with the prince of your dreams.

The night was young. Guests from all over the city had started to filter into the Prince's grand Ballroom. The notes emanting from the full orchestra filled the space with a calming melody, to which the partygoers didn't hesitate waltzing with their partners to.
The Prince, though, had seen his fair share of royal gatherings. The baby blue ceiling accented with shimmering gold patterns had lost its appeal over the ages. For the Prince knew these expensive balls were thrown only to find him a suitible Queen to rule with him. The Prince knew, however, that he did not long for a partner just yet; he was still young, he wanted to see a world outside the extensive palace in which he grew up in. But alas, this was the fate the he would wallow himself through. He watched the guests merrily twirl and dip their way through countless songs until his eyes had all but glazed over. When he first shook himself up from his daydreaming, his eyes were momentarily blinded by the candles flickering in the chandelier. That was a shame because he missed the moment every head in the grand ballroom turned to see a latecomer standing in the golden doorway. When the guests decided that one more addition to the party was acceptable, they continued their waltzes about the space. The Prince, on the contrary, found he couldn't take his eyes off the figure still stood at the top of the stairs leading into the ballroom. She had kind, brilliant blue eyes and a nervous smile as she caught his gaze. She quickly realized whom she was looking at, and hurried into a curtsy. That was when the Prince noticed the young woman's gown for the first time. It was the same light blue as her eyes with yet even lighter, shimmering stripes of blue accenting it. The shoulders of her dress reminded the Prince of the puffy pastries he came across the baker making this morning as he was wandering about the palace. The Prince stood from his throne and walked, as if in a trance, toward the Beauty that made his heart skip a beat when he looked at her. The young woman hadn't realized she, too was walling toward the Prince until they were standing just inches apart in the middle of swaying ballroom. A singer must have joined the orchestra when he wasn't paying attention, as a lilting voice sung a song the Prince didn't recognize. " So this is love/ So this is what makes life divine" the singer crooned. He wondered, as he stood with the girl in the blue gown, if this was love. This connection that seemed to link them together. By what force he didn't know, but the Prince knew he wanted to learn if She had it too. He extended his hand to her and said, capturing her gaze once again, " May I have this dance?"

This is what I imagine when I hear this: You run across the cold floor of the castle, your hair scaping the bun, as you grab your dress to try and run faster. You can hear him getting closer as you oppress a laugh. Your cold feet clapping against the gray floor, as his hands approach you, and then you're flying. He picks you up in his arms, the both of you laughing, falling harder in love with each glance, not even noticing the messy state of the other.

I tried to get his attention, I really did. Didn’t he remember me? I was always by his side, I was good enough to hold him when he cried. But I wasn’t good enough to dance with him when he finally smiled. So the girl with the glass slippers showed up, and she took him away. I guess I should’ve saved up for a prettier dress.I had never seen him so desperately look for love like that, even if my love was right under his nose. Can you really fall in love in just one night? Then why couldn’t he fall in love over the span of three years? Was there something wrong with me? I didn’t want the castle, I wanted his heart. The entire evening, he didn’t glance my way.
Did you know that Cinderella actually lost both slippers? When he came to my home, he knew those shoes weren’t mine. Did it really look like I could afford them? But he let me try them anyway. Instead of putting them on, I threw one off the bridge, down into the river. The news couldn’t spread, so according to the rest of the world, Cinderella only lost one slipper. He left soon after that. He didn’t scream, didn’t say a word, didn’t even look me in the eye.
Cinderella was a good queen-I knew that. But was it love? That was the excuse I used for a while. Turns out, over time, it came to be. With time, they both came to love each other. Took them three years, I heard. Now I had no excuses. He never loved me, the fact that the shoe fit her confirmed that. My love was unrequited at best.
I wanted to hate her, I really did.
But she was a good soul. She was in love. She made him happy. I didn’t interfere.
I was walking by the river one day, not to long ago. I saw a shard of glass. Soon, I found the shoe. Her shoe. Mostly intact. I decided to give it back to him. This time, he looked me in the eye. Regret made my sight blurry, my cheeks wet. I still smiled, handed him the shoe and never looked back.
I sat by the courtyard where we first met. It hurt that he chosen someone over me, cast me aside. Never another word uttered between us. But I knew that he found love, and that made me happy.
It hurt. It felt an ugly sort of good. A bitter, unrequited feeling.

The ballroom floor glitters brilliantly under the glowing light of the chandelier. The dancing figures of men and women dressed in elegant clothing clouds your vision as you lean against the wall, utterly alone. A sad sigh tumbles past your lips. Nobody had asked you to dance all night and you were starting to loose hope until a gentle tap is felt on your shoulder. With furrowed brows you turn to see who had suddenly required your attention and lock eyes with none other than shrek. In that moment time stops, your heart beats rapidly, and you realize... this is love.

You stand there, been at the ball for almost the whole night, watching every girl being asked and dancing with their lovers. Looking at the floor almost spacing out you feel saddness lurking, you turn, not wanting to cry at the ball. He didnt come... You knew he never went to such things but on the off chance, you asked him to come and meet you there. Is he really that dumb? I mean, you spent almost every waking day being around him, giving him signals that you were in love. He must be an idiot or wasn't feeling the same. you look up again hoping to see him anywhere, he didnt have to be in a tux, he could be in a potato sack for all you care! You just wanted him there.. He is nowhere to be seen. You slowly make way to the exit, head hanging and your mascara just about running down, the heavy weight of rejection is setting it but you feel a tug at your gown. you look up and say" My mistake". sniffling, your about to turn around and you hear his voice " No, my mistake". You freeze for a second, could that be him? You turn around and see him. Dressed handsomely, smiling that perfect smile, you smile back. "You came", "Of course, you asked me to come". He grabs your hand, kisses it. "May I have this dance?". You nod, he directs you to the floor, you quickly wipe the mascara. He looks into your eyes and you gaze into his. You gently move together, hands meet and his other on your waist. you sway with the sound of the music. you place your head on his shoulder. you sway together, he twirls you slowly and meets you close. you slowly move around the floor and as he twirls you, he never looks away. Its almost a dream, you always knew him, you knew you two were inseparable. His gentle hold on your waist makes your butterfiles flutter. You gently sing along not realising he is moving closer, tighter steps, you eventually stop moving and for a second, you see his deep love for you in his eyes. He slowly leans in and you close your eyes, the gentle feeling of his lips carase yours. You knew this was love. You knew.. this was a miracle that you had been dreaming of... coming true.....

I think I'll never find true love in the modern day because this is what I want it to be. Dancing with that one special someone and just falling deeper and deeper in love as you stare into each others eyes and sway elegantly to this, not seeing anyone else in that moment.

You're the reason I turned away all of the promising young men who asked for a dance tonight. I watch you make your way across the room to her. She's speaking to your friends. I can see their smiles, they adore her. I fix my eyes upon you again. You come up behind her and take her hand. You whisk her away and both of you begin to dance. I can see her smile. She’s never been happier. And your friends are smiling too, they all agree you're deep in love. I choke down my tears and plaster on a warm smile. I watch her rest her head on your shoulder. It seems as if she was losing sight of them as well.

As much as I didn’t wanna admit, she looked gorgeous. if you guys want to go to a ball visit Vienna during ball season! the first balls already start in October and anyone who has a ticket can come (in obligatory black tie and ball gown obviously!) I think Austria is also the only country that still holds balls yearly. the ballrooms are just gorgeous and dancing the waltz in a princess ballgown is just the kind of magical experience that you all should have at least once !
