Whoever gave this video a thumbs down doesn't know there ass from a hole in the ground 🙄. Gordon Eastman's films were the best baby sitter I ever had as a kid in the 80s. Great piece of history guys, thanks for sharing!
I grew up watching Gordon Eastman films, rented them from local sporting goods store. With all the advancements in technology and gear that we now have it makes those films even more impressive.
We’ve been reflecting on how the progression of film and video since Gordon’s time. He would have been amazed at how light the gear can be now, but hauling those heavy film cameras sure made him tough!
@@EastmansHuntingJournals I'm sure you guys are awful proud of your grandad, in my opinion he was not only a pioneer in filming he was also one of the best at it even in this day and age.
Gordon Eastman had one of the most natural narrator voices I ever heard. He could sure tell a story in a way that was simple and honest. There is no one that I know of in the hunting media world that has matched him in my opinion. I have all his old VHS and DVDs and watch them often.
What a wonderful tribute to you Grandpa. He inspired me to hunt in the North 9 times. It was just a dream of mine until I actually did it. Thanks, Mike, Guy, Ike, and especially Gordon.
Guy, your Grandpa's film, Challenging the Northwest Territories, is my favorite outdoor film of all-time. I have it on VHS and DVD. I watch it at least 3-4 times a year. It never ceases to impress me how lucky those first hunters were to visit and hunt that area.
Guy and Ike that is the best Adventure you have put together. Just look at the Equipment changes. The is no one else that has 3 generations and filming and hunting like the Eastman's God's Blessings on all your adventures and families Uncle Pear
I have a mixed-bag hunt booked for Alaska/Yukon moose and Dall Sheep for Fall 2022, in Alaska's Wrangell-St. Elias area. This video really makes me anxious to go! By the way, I really love Gordon's music too - it just makes you feel the beauty of the untouched wilderness!
That was great. I loved watching your Grandfathers hunting on tv in black and white when I was a kid. Ok. I still act like a kid. Wish I was still a kid. Less headaches then. 😂
Gordon’s films had a huge impact on my life also. I remember his huge colorful poster on a power pole in Palmer AK as a kid, which was advertising this film. My dad and I went to it in the school auditorium. I couldn’t get enough of it. Gordon sat there narrating it.
That's a great a memory. Hard to believe the high school auditorium viewing has moved to UA-cam in a mere 50 years. Thanks for watching :) Glad we take you back.
I loved watching Gordon's videos. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of guys that filmed with him once. To me, this is the stuff dreams are made of. A great tribute.
I've been looking forward to this all week. The original film helped steer my life, as a young kid in the 70's watching it I decided to spend my life in the wilderness. Guiding, hunting, living the life.... Thanks for all the great content over the years!
The feeling was very overwhelming Thomas. One of the few places on the planet that has not changed much in the past 50 years. It may have even gotten more remote as the Canol road has continued to erode. Thanks for watching. -G
Thank you so much for sharing this video , it is one of the best videos I've seen . The scenery is breath tacking and rugged at the same time .Thank you again for sharing .
Maaaaan, that is quality content! Thank you guys so much for sharing that. Been watching you on here religiously for years. Not as long as your fam's been filming though! I wanted to comment to say thank you, I appreciate what y'all do. It was something seeing Guy get worked up like that.
@@EastmansHuntingJournals Yes. Idaho Falls resident. Only cow tags in Diamond Creek this year. Will enjoy general deer season as well. My dad was born an raised in Star Valley so Diamond and Greys River are our home areas. Keep up the great work. Crazy world today and your episodes bring me back to a happier time and place. We are fortunate to to live were we do.
Thanks and I hope you guys have a safe and memorable fall hunting season I finally made it out west last year to see it I diy killed a five point archery bull and 150 ish class Muley with a muzzle loader all you guys out there have a amazing resource of game out there in the west keep it up I'm so jealous back here in the armpit of the hunting world lol so jealous it's sad lol 😂
a great tribute to your Grandfather, especially enjoyed the old footage, Im watching from lil old NZ, would love to watch more of your Grandfathers stuff, is there anymore on youtube?
This was very, very well done. I appreciate this was done for us to enjoy! 👍 Just out of curiosity, what make of rifles and cartridges did Gordon and his buddies use on the hunts in this video.
Thanks for watching the film nmelkhunter1. We had a great time putting this one together. I believe Gordon and his buddies were all shooting Winchester pre-64s. Gordon was actually a gunsmith by trade and worked underneath Al Beason in the Spokane, WA area. Al was Jack O'Conner's gunsmith and that is how Gordon got to know Jack. They may have been 7MM mags. I think Danny was a Weatherby man however so his gun was probably different. Maybe a 7mm WBY Mag. That's about all I know about the guns at this point. I hope this helps. Good luck this fall. -G
Well done, loved when gord would rent a hall and bring his movies to town. Especially loved the northern bc ones. He was and is right about the McKenzie mnts being the most remote in North america Wonder what he would have thought about using helicopters. I know what I think. Cheers
