Great video, Darren. A quick time-saving tip here on top of this awesome drop shadow hack you shared - you can actually just select and copy and paste the shadow layer rather than saving it as a transparent image then uploading again. Saves from switching from separate design projects. That's that awesome part of Canva! Keep the content going, my friend.
Thanks for the info! I've not been able to blur the image or shape when I just copy and paste it over, as there's not space around the edge. Hope all is well, love your videos.
You can't do that Aurelius I tried doing the same and it was just copying the shape without the outer space so the shadow effect wasn't coming out. It was just coming out as an that has had its transparency reduced. You ACTUALLY have to download WITH a transparent background first then reupload for it to work. Unfortunately theres no short cut here
Thanks Darren. I really enjoy all your videos. I learn so much and have used many of your tips for some of my training presentations and even my UA-cam videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you 😊. I can’t remember the name, I’ll try to find it for you though. It’s on epidemic sounds though. If you want to try it, I have a trial link in the description.
Thank you but my shadows are not coming out like shadows they looking like plain pictures that have only just been reduced their transparency 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ I've been on it for hours now but I can't get them to look like shadows
Yes you do. Because you can’t get the correct blur effect around the edge of it’s just a solid shape. 😊 but feel free to test it out. It doesn’t work when I try. By re uploading the image with space around the edge, you get the fade out edge.
There are now some built in shadow options on Canva, but I like this hack still, as it’s possible to adjust the effect more. The built in option is good for a quick result though 👍🏻
This is in the old editor and not in the new one. I'm hoping that Canva add it back in. If you search in elements for shadow, you should see some in there you can use.
Under my background removal screen, I don’t have any other options to adjust the color of the image and I’m on my iPad. Do I need to be on a desktop for those options to pop up under the “effects” tab? I hope I’m making sense

I don't think you can blur it if you copy and paste.

You’ll need to add blur also.
But do you really need to download the black PNG? Could just put the 1 layer on top of the black background as layer 2, at the first example?

@@DarrenM makes sense, and appreciate your throughout tutorial you have made mate 🙏
Subbed!
@@AlaGamesMobile thank you. Always happy to help, shoot me any questions you have.
When I clicked on the black block, and clicked on adjust, there is no blur option.

Ahh yes. The duotone option is only on the desktop. You could load it in a browser on your iPad instead of the app :)
@@DarrenM ahhh makes sense cause I looked everywhere for it. Thanks so much, I’ll try that or just add it to my actual desktop 🙏🏽
I do not have adjust options on my iPad either, I checked web version of Canva with no luck as well 🤔🤔
