You did very good filming this You captured alot of scenery and you didn't talk loud I enjoyed watching it. You should do more some people appreciate videos like this one thank you.
I section hiked this over the summer. I had a great time and was missing it (I live in the city). This video made me feel like I was back. My favorite spot was Nahmakanta Lake. Also my Nemo Tensor tore as well! Next time i'll use a foam pad.
I did the 100MW as a section hike just a couple weeks before you were there. Your video was really well done and a great way for me to re-live my trip. You mentioned getting a burger about 8 times and I kept thinking He’s gonna be so disappointed that the restaurant is closed, just like I was! But at least you could get an ice cold beer 🍺 . Can I ask how your Nemo Tensor tore? I use the same pad. Also, very cool you got to see a fisher. Happy trails.
Thank you for watching and for the comment - it's appreciated! Yeah....I was really looking forward to that burger - but I guess I should have known better! lol The ice cream and beer was good though! My Nemo tensor ripped right at the valve (where the cap flips open to let the air out). I guess I must have pulled on it too hard when letting the air out that morning. I didn't realize it at the time and packed it up - then that evening at Antlers when I went to inflate it I noticed it. I did send it back to Nemo and they issued me a store credit for the purchase amount with no problem though - so that was good. Happy trails and thank you once again for watching!
Was that a Gray Jay in the beginning? I'm really looking forward to seeing some different birds and animals than we have in Ohio when I do the A.T. in 2022. One luxury item for me will be binoculars.
WOW INCREASABLE! How much weight did you carry! What pack did you use? I'm gonna start practicing and hopefully working towards being able to handle 80 pounds 10 miles a day!
Thank you! I used an anker powercore 20K.. I only ran out of battery a couple of times and it wasn't really a huge deal.....but for the most part the 20,000 was plenty of power. Thank you for the question and for following along, I appreciate it!
Shaker, What were the dates of this hike, Some nice views I'd like to hike that section just to fish. How did you determine the time frame with Shaw's to get your resupply? Do you have phone service? Getter Done Shaker
Thank you for the comment John, it's appreciated! I started on September 8th in Monson and hiked for a total of six days. I would have loved to turned around and walked back through again! Shaws does two drops every day in two locations within the 100 mile wilderness (during peak hiking season). I took my best guess as to when I would be there based upon other hikes I've done in the area - however you call them from the summit of Whitecap Mountain to confirm (or reschedule if needed). I use Verizon and I have cell service fairly often through the hike - especially on peaks - but also along a few of the ponds. It's certainly a beautiful area - and tons of places to fish along the way. I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps and have fun!
@@ShakerHikes Shaker, Thank you! I attempted to do an AT thru-hike in 2015. It ended in Atkins Va. due to a pulmonary embolism/blood clot in my lung. Each year thereafter I have been doing sections. This year I was a couch potato due to closures in the areas I wanted to hike. 2021 maybe the year I get to finish but I'm in no shape to start in Maine hope to see you on the trail.
Great scenery. What I don't understand is how you camp with just a tarp. Do you not have mosquitoes/midges/sandflies there? I can't imagine camping without netting in Australia or New Zealand.
I don't. Here on the East Coast I use OpSacks and keep it in my tent vestibule. On my upcoming thru hike of the CDT I plan on using an Ursack when I get into grizzly country though.
really appreciated this video! I'm planning to do this hike this summer and it was super helpful to see the terrain and campsites.

@@ShakerHikes you're welcome! We really enjoy making outdoor content also
Anywhere I can find your gear list or what pack/tent you used? Nice video! Looking to do the trip myself in another 6-7 weeks. Should be an adventure!
Is the re supply provided by someone close to you, or do you pay someone for that service?
Very good video. Thank you for all the details!

@@ShakerHikes I was thinking it would be great to take a fishing pole with you. Could have some fresh trout for supper on occasion.

I do have an innernet that I can hook inside the tarp when the bugs get bad.
