    Wow, just another great video of Arnold. This is so great to see how to perform an actual flye. It's all about the deep stretch and pull to contraction. I see few people doing flyes, let alone do them as an actual flye. Incorporating this into my routine has made a vast difference. It's amazing to see how much weight Arnold is using and repping it. This is fantastic footage. Thank you Carlos.

    • @fizzle2323
      @fizzle2323 16 днів тому

      Exactly! Because they use too much weight and don’t focus on the stretch! 🙌🦅🇵🇸

      Just did chest tonight with flyes with medium weight for 15 reps and pushed it.
      At reps 8 and 9 it was already aching but pumping with that full stretch, medium heavy weight and pulling out 15 full range reps, all I can say is wow. Massive pump.

    As far as I remember, I've been doing that movement for 38 years 😁
    Too low, with too much weight and too high.. probably the best pectoral movement ever 👍

    why did the dumbell fly form change so much over the years?

    • @jeancey1
      @jeancey1 16 днів тому

      Because men are weak now you’ll go to the gym trying to do this form and all the professional gym Bros will tell you that you’re going too far but then again look at Arnold’s massive chest😂 the same way holding the bar very far apart when bench pressing

    • @darthnihilus8543
      @darthnihilus8543 16 днів тому +3

      Yeah it's very thought provoking how these golden era guys were kind of ahead of their time when it came to training. They understood that the stretched position of a lift really contributed to growing the muscle, which is only now coming back around thanks to modern exercise scientists. I don't know what made the standard change like that; maybe the rise of mass monsters and modern bodybuilders being too inflexible. I guess broscience is sometimes at the cutting edge lol.

    • @justinwill1163
      @justinwill1163 14 днів тому

      Cause people are pussies and cheat movements lol I don’t think it’s a coincidence that everyone in this era had a thick full chest and did flies like this and nowadays they do half range and everyone’s chest is much more narrow

    The bench is narrow and very thin padding. Idk how high off the ground it is either. But i imagine that makes a difference in how it feels to bring the arms back

    • @abasicname8848
      @abasicname8848 15 днів тому

      Hes got his grip almost neutral but hes actually flaring like a motherfucker while hes at it. Wonder if thats the trick for keeping the shoulders braced correctly for the movement.

    You really never see anyone do this exercise anymore. But then, you don't really see the same Pec. development either. Concidence? Either way, great exercise, doesn't even need to be done "heavy" to feel good and get results. Maybe that's the problem, you need to check the ego at the door!

      He laced up his knee that’s about it. I think the key is that Arnie let his tendons and ligaments develop with the heavier weights. He never concentrated only on just lifting super duper heavy.
