Heya Waffles! So currently in my art class I’m painting with acrylics. I got some tips for ya (if you plan on doing doing this again)!
1.) When acrylics dry, you can’t blend them. If you plan on blending two colors, make sure you blend them while they’re still wet
2.) acrylics actually paint on smoother if you use a tad bit of water. Just a little!
3.) when blending big areas, use a round applying brush and a big flat brush. Apply the two colors with the applying brush with a small gap in the middle, then use the blending brush to blend them together.
4.) make sure to use more stiffer or firmer brushes for acrylic. Since it’s so much more thicker than watercolor, soft brushes don’t work well with acrylic.
5.) although it seems satisfying and fun, acrylics aren’t much for blending. Yes it’s incredibly easy and fun to do, but use acrylics more for slightly harsher lines.
Watercolors and acrylics are SO different so I hope this helped you.
    Also it looks amazing!

the story about her is: it's Persephone, that is falling into underworld, but she didn't realise it yet and she's so done with the fayries, that would explain that expression. and you can see like her eyes will wide any second, her arms will reach out to her friends but it's too late. and downthere is Hades looking at the clock thinking "she's falling little too long"...
    i love your art waffles!!!

      -Faery
      -Good Folk
      -Folk under the hill
-Fairies (if your feeling all Tinkerbell)
      Etc.
I’ve never heard ‘Fayrie’, I guess it’s something else to add to the list of names for the fae.. :)

I was bothered by shadows when I first started as well!! Glad I’m not the only one hahaa. As far as acrylics go it’s best to work from less detailed to more detailed, and I honestly don’t even bother doing any detailed sketches at first! Also i find that it helps to use thicker paint so you don’t get the paint “smearing” into each other! If you want a thinner more smooth look, try to start with a really thin layer of the base fill AND shadow and highlight, instead of just the base fill, if that makes sense? You can also use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. I haven’t finished the video yet but I can already see you figuring them out more and it’s coming together!! I have been super excited to see how you work with these since I got the box! When you were talking about pushing through I always call it the awkward teenage phase, where it’s all weird and strange but you just have to keep growing it hahaha

Hey Waffles! I really loved the sketch you did. Here's a bit of advice for future painting endeavors.
When doing more realistic shading, you're generally going to not want to paint the eyes a pure white. Remember that the eyes are 3D objects, so they will have their own shading. This means they'll generally be a similar value to what's around them, maybe a bit lighter. This will help them look like they're not glowing. The other thing to keep in mind, is that reflective colors show pretty strongly in whites. They'll often be the color of what's around them, or the color of the lighting. So if you have a character in a very blue environment, like under a big blue sky in an open field, the eye whites would be more blue. I suggest looking at some portrait photos and actually eyedropping the colors around the white and see where they land in your color picker. :) Hope you find this helpful

You can add water to acrylics to make it more smoth and less goopy, and if you add it over the dried paint with a lot of water you can give some little tones and highlights and shadows. But of course as it is a canvas it will take time to dry. For anyone who is starting with the medium.

      mine would be watercolor
As on a island I would always have water but acrylic would 1. tubes would be faster emptied cause they dry faster with hot climates I think and watercolor tines as bog as the acrylics last you entire life.Watercolor could be ised and washed with the seawater. You can paint with the salty water also!
