  • A full, complete edition of "News 13 Tonight," airing 6 days before my other complete 1983 newscast, on WNYT in Albany, NY, the Capital Region's NBC affiliate. This one has Craig Alexander (who was off 6 days later), and also a cold open instead of the regular news open.
Aside from Craig, Nancy Cozean, Herb Stevens and Bob McNamara are in their usual positions, and reporting are Chris Kapostasy (Jansing), Steve Scoville, Jon Miles and Don Porter (NBC News). None of these people are at WNYT anymore, but Chris is still in news working over at MSNBC.
The big story is on a Korean jet being attacked by Soviets and their jets, with a local woman among the dead. Chris interviews the woman's husband who is appalled at the attack and suppresses his anger while being interviewed. Also, the town of Watervliet has a meeting about problems in their (no pun intended) water, an auction of Beatles merchandise, Thomas Whalen not ruling out a 1985 mayoral run (after he took over Erastus Corning's position upon his death in May), RPI sets down ice for their newly renovated fieldhouse, and the Albany baseball team has a big crowd ahead of their season winding down. WNYT has a full report on Erastus Corning's death on their UA-cam account.
Craig Alexander isn't exactly the most animated guy in the world here, and you can see why WNYT was the bottom of the ratings. He seems to only have one facial expression, one that says "I'm sorry but I'm not sorry." Either that or he looks like a news anchor some actor would play in a movie. Definitely not Ron Burgundy, though! XD
The news theme is Telesound's "Look For Us," which plays during the cuts to commercial breaks and during the outro. IIRC, WNYT introduced the theme when they switched to NBC. My next holy grail is anything from during or even before the switch.

@videonut1988 if that was September 1. 1983 NBC’s slogan would have been Be There…..Just watch us Now was their slogan for the 1982-1983 season…..I hope you will reply to this

11:26 Was this when the Uncle Sam/Troy Atrium would be built?

That was built in the late '70s. (I remember seeing "Annie" in the theater there with my mom in '82, so it was obviously already around in '83! What a mistake that Atrium was. Stopped being a shopping center by the mid '80s, more or less, and languished until the state decided to use it.)
