For 25 years I was haunted by a vague sense that Ultima Exodus contained the most beautiful melody to bless a video game and now I hear it again. It has been so long. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to do a metal version of this track.
this takesme back to my very young childhood when i was merely 5-6 watching and playing this with my dad, having no clue what to do, but i t was so soothing to hear the 8 bit music of this game... i miss those days
This and ambrosia are the two that I can still have randomly popping into my head after 30 years... That's impressive! I could listen to it on loop for hours lol. So classic.
Dammit this song brings back memories. Sitting in my basement in the late 80's, I whiled away countless hours with this beloved game on my NES -- it was such an amazing game for its time! This was my favorite song.
@TurboCMinusMinus You could also exploit pooling massive gold to 1 party member by creating endless companions. Hello 9999 food across the board and every equip you ever need from shops.
This sounds so much like it was played with those hand-held bells they used to use in church. Granted I haven't been to one in over 20 years, I still think it'd be kinda magical to have a church-bell-whatever play this song.
I was one of the many people that could not advance much in this game... until later years that I visited a website rpgclassics and followed a guide. This soundtrack is so beautiful, I wish someone makes an orchestrated version
I wish Lord British (Richard Garriot), would step back, and listen to the kind of music his games could produce 20 years ago. He has drifted so far from what really made him, "him". I sometimes feel he is just a shadow of what he used to be, music like this defines what he once was, i hope one day he will see this and bless us with more goodness..
Ayo let me axe you a quession: does yo fam know what tha word "and" be pronouncin' like an' shit? Ain't got no time fo' no faulty-ass grammar up in here, up in here, YAY YAYYYYYY
30 years later it never gets old.
The composer should be credited:
Composer: Tsugutoshi Goto

Did you ever get around to that metal track?
@@quazzon1 What metal track?
@@juansolo1617 OP said he wanted to make a metal version was wondering if he ever did
@@quazzon1 Oh I thought you meant in-game lol sorry
it's entirely possible that OP simply couldn't get "metal" church bells to sound right /shrug?

This is clearly the best music ever to grace an NES game, right? I mean, it's not even close. Maybe Simon's Quest or Metroid but yeah, this wins.

he already gave a use more than enough i think he did his part
So many memories of murdering townsfolk and then running from the guards...
GIRL appears!!!
If you like this, try the "with lyrics" version released around the same time in Japan.
Who remembers fighting the king when just starting the game only to get killed?
KING APPEARS

I was even more impressed with random peasants scrapping me with their aprons.
Lights lighter, holds it up.......
Sweet theme :)
How exciting it was to explore Ambrosia for the first time

Certainly not the most iconic, but definitely my favorite NES OST tune of all time!
I imagine this being played by an orchestra
