    Earthbox tip! Stick a large wood skewer into a wine cork and drop it into the watering tube while the resivour is empty. Mark the spot just above the top of the watering tube on the skewer and now you have a way to really push the roots to drink almost every bit of water in the resivour and refill the water before the Rez goes completely dry. Trust me, you will get dramatic results by extending your dryback instead of constantly topping off the resivour which will increase the chance of your earthbox going anerobic and stinky.

      Good idea. I got some Growtech buckets that used to have corks for the floats to let us know when to add water but since then they’ve upgraded the markers. But yes a great ideas. Marks should be sddd to the skewer at 4 intervals to mark each level.

    This is my new favorite channel on UA-cam. I'm a new grower I'm only on my second grow and I'm loving every second of it. I was using nature's living soil and it seemed to work great. But now after watching B.A.S videos, I definitely need to get me a earthbox. When I decided to grow my own medicine I said to myself I'm never going to use synthetic nutrients only all organic. I'm so glad I found this channel. Your the absolute best Build-A-Soil. 💚

      I have a similar size tub filled with soil sat on the lid and I can bottom water and it wicks it up and I also top dress with only the best organic in coco amendments, it super healthy apart from a little burn on a handlfil of leaves, I have mulch on the top and feeder roots have already fully flooded the top and the rest of the tub which is clear but I have cover over it. With organics it’s better to water more frequently but not as much in volume.
      Example in 5 gallon drain to waste coco I water till run off every 4th day taking just over 2 gallons to get true run off.
      In 5 gallons with dry amendments i water a about a half gallon every other day. Sometimes it’s s half gallon sometimes it’s a 1 qaurt and a pint. You want the soil to be moist but not saturated and avoiding dry back.

About 2 weeks from harvest on my first indoor grow with autos....Have to say its been fun think in the long run will make me a better grower cause of the strict time frame....Photo period next though...never realized you could send them into flower sooner...🤯. Can always visit the r/NightOwlSeeds subreddit!
      Daz is also GBD on some forums and did some work with Mephisto years ago, namely Cosmic Queen and Sour Stomper he made. Cosmic Queen is Spacedawg(TGA) x Chemdogging and Sour Stomper is Grapestomper OG x Sour Crack. Photo x Auto projects have to be worked for a minimum of 3 generations before becoming fully auto.
      The first episode of the darkhorse Genetics show is an interview with Daz that goes over a lot of it. The Bruce Banner 3 Auto in the Strawberry Milk&Qookies auto is a collab he did with darkhorse's original Bruce Banner 3 clone, and everything it's been crossed to has been ridiculously frosty. Myself and some other people I showed it to thought it was pics of Harry Palms' Grape Cream Cake clone.
      He's really doing amazing work in the auto industry.
      His three original staple strains are Zamaldelica Express(Zamal x Malawi x Meao Thai x Fantasmo Express), Wizards Apprentice(Cheech Wizard x Skywalker), and Blue Microverse( 24Carat x Blue Magoo Bx2) and all are amazing in their own way.

    • @YouTube_can_ESAD
      @YouTube_can_ESAD 2 роки тому +1

      Think Daily Light Integral in order to achieve your optimum light schedule for your strain type. I always give my autos time to transpire/rest in an optimum VPD environment. I’ve settled on 18/6 or 20/4 depending on the Autoflower cultivar and get excellent results.

    I'm so glad you're doing this. This is exactly how I've chosen to grow, after watching your first two 10x10 series. And so far, it's killing it. I have 4 Earthboxes, so growing 8 plants, in a staggered cycle. So, I planted 4, waited six weeks or so, and planted 4 more in the other two boxes. Harvested the first 4, and planted again this week. The first four plants are in jars now and they're among the best herb I've ever had, (Mephisto, Barney's Farm, and Ethos) and I've been a smoker for 30 years. My second set is flowering beautifully. I love that I can have seedlings, vegging, and flowering plants in the same room under the same lights, they never change, I don't need a separate veg space, and all I ever have to do is top dress and bottom water. It's the easiest, most convenient way I can imagine to do this, and doing it fully organic just makes it that much better. I used to grow in 3gallon bags, mixing bottled nutes and PH'ing water every day. This is a life upgrade. I know I have more to learn from seeing this series, but I just wanted to say - I really appreciate it!

    2 per Earthbox works great with most autos but some of them will get way bigger than you would think. Those do better in the Earthbox Root and Veg at one per pot. You can treat the Earthboxes like a no-till bed for at least 2, sometimes 3, full runs before you really need to dump and reamend the soil. You'll need to top dress for flower and maybe some light foliar feeding to make it 3 runs, but these SIPs work really well with autos.

    • @garywillow6578
      @garywillow6578 2 роки тому

      Sounds clever. Never heard of earth box's and am organic but autos don't need no till as they are too fast. Your method seems like the best of both. Also like the idea of slow release over 3 or more runs before tilling.

    I’m so excited you are doing an Autoflower grow. I did one about 8-10 years ago, it was not for me. Poor quality and yield. But now i am about to start my second AF with all the new genetics available. I will be a couple of weeks behind you.

    Interested to watch the direct sow for the earth boxes, the domes look like they're perfect for 2 plant per box. The cycle comparison will also be some awesome data, hope for the best on the strains, they sound righteous!

    I'm really excited for this series. You're gonna love that SM&Q.
    I'm really interested in how the lighting schedule works out. I've heard recently that under 12/12 but with more intense lighting autos during the flowering cycle may actually do better than the same intensity light at a longer time because of DLI and all that, which makes a lot of sense tbh.

    Only suggestion I would make is adding something to lightly circulate or oxidize the water maybe a set of small air stone through the over flow hole of that water goes stagnant that root rot waiting to happen
    Love you guys hope I could help thank you for everything

    To everyone at Build a Soil,
    Much love from the Seattle area,
    I have wanted to grow my own herb since I was a teenager and I could no longer convince my Mom/Grandma the plant
    I started from a bag seed in my closet with the single grow bulb was “just a Japanese Maple”!?!?! 😂 We had to end that grow. Had no idea what I was doing but I can still remember the beauty and perseverance of that plant would just amaze me.
    Always been good herb in Seattle. Some say indoor grows started here. But the laws here are different. 47% sales tax and no home grows allowed for recreational is pretty much how to explain it. We wonder where the money goes. Can’t wait for Federal Legalization.
    I do now have a condition which qualifies me for medical and I have my license now. Finally, after 25 long years I’m able to grow 6 plants legally and I’m obviously very excited after having to wait for 25 years.
    Thanks for all the great advice and knowledge you share here. Your channel is not the most entertaining of one’s like it but it’s definitely the most informative and will likely help me in my goals more than any other. I was heart set on hydro but after getting this far into your series I’m convinced to at least start off with living soil.
    I have some debt to clear and a vacation right before the holidays to enjoy before I really get started, but I will likely be hitting you guys up for the next Black Friday sale to start gathering what I will need. I might even show up in person. It would be an honor to meet you guys.
    Stay high!

    I have recently swapped over from Rain Science grow bags to Earthbox systems running the BAS Take and Bake soil. I have two Mephisto Auto's per box and honestly think they are too large to share a container. About to get my 2nd tent rolling, just waiting on some new Earthboxes to be delivered.

      What size earthbox? Reg or the jr?

    • @Zardnokalicious
      @Zardnokalicious 2 роки тому +2

      @@Southern_Solventless I used Regular sized EBs. Primary tent had 5 Reg EB with 10 total seeds started. Lost one on transplant, had another stunt out hard leaving a primary plant and a runt in one. Ultimately, I did not have the space needed in the tent to properly train or maintain them and the plants suffered because of it. 5 EB in a 5X5 with fans and humidifier doesn't leave much room and next run I will drop back to only 4 or maybe even just 3. I missed not being able to properly reach the back row of plants.

    I love my Earthboxes. I recently made some out of storage totes because it's way less expensive than buying them. Plus I wanted deeper boxes. So far they're kicking ass. Wicking bed is another name for them.
    Lowe's sells a version called Patio Pickers and they have a bigger model that's 20x20" I think. You could fit 3 autos in one easily. I was given 4 of them and they're great for smaller photo period plants. I'd like to try autos in them.
