Hey, Otis! It's thanksgiving weekend up here in Canada, and I just want to let you know I'm thankful for what you do. The history of roots music has grown richer due to your interviews and observations. You're also a damn fine songwriter! 🦃
A lot of things happen “Out in the Parking Lot “ ✌️😎 Otis, this is one of best stories I’ve heard in a while !! Made me laugh and cry plus got prickly hairs on my arm during the Amy Gibbs part!!! 🐿️😎🐿️
Otis, it's a pleasure listening in, stories are entertaining. You are so genuine, these Saturdays give a framework for the week, not a trace of hucksterism. Thank you. Peace. More than Music and that os saying a lot.
I love hearing other people's Nashville stories! I moved there from my hometown of Sacramento, CA in 1998 and stayed 20 years. I was blessed to do sessions and the road with major label artists and play bucket list venues and meet/work with some of my heroes. It was an unforgettable journey.
Otis....I started to tear up at the cats on the couch and y'all hugging it out part of the story. Thanks for a bit of early fall emotion. I needed that.
The Hero’s journey. After walking through the fire, it sure is wonderful to be able to look back and have a laugh. Everyone goes there, at the time it is hell, but it is where , if you find the right perspective, you get the best life lessons, and of course the best stories.. That’s a good one, thanks.
Harrowing times moving out of familiar places. Those comfortable spaces are hard to come by. We left my home town for the front range of the Colorado Rockies a few years back. A dream of ours our entire marriage. Driving away was so hard. And, in retrospect, a pretty expensive mistake. However, we'd still be trying to pursue that dream if we hadn't gotten it out of the way. We're back in that home town and better for the experience. LAA
Your one of the brightest spots in my day Ottis. Love the insight and candor. One day I’ll get to see you in person but if I ever move to Nashville to chase my dreams I will owe you a lot of that credit. We appreciate all that you do my friend. Peace and love
🤠 I'm in El Paso TX and played out here for 25+ Years. 5 & 6 nights a week. I stationed in Germany for 6 years, ..............🙍My Band in Germany was called Cheyenne and we played all over Germany
Otis - this might be my favorite video you’ve ever done. We went through the same kind of complications when we moved from Memphis to Saugerties 15 years ago. Both of us separate vehicles, my wife following my pick-up truck in her VW Beetle. Everything was beautiful…
Good morning Otis. Thank you. This is one of the most enjoyable 25 mins of video I'm likely to have with a Saturday morning coffee. Have had a number of them with you but today... just more perfect somehow. Loved it.
Here's that Todd Snider video that lured many ships towards the jagged rocks of East Nashville. ua-cam.com/video/95x_nanKazk/v-deo.htmlsi=I7MlyoUFA4BD-YGW
Man those life experiences when you are in them living moment by moment you only realize down the road years later how and where you ended up in your journey. Awesome experience Ottis and enjoyed hearing it, thank you.
How cool that your neighbor kept things from the previous owner. Even cooler that you hung the pic of Amy Gibbs in the house. Great story once again, Otis. 🖼️
I dunno many, changing your zip code can give different perspectives on life and inspiration, I’m glad I lived in Europe, NYC abd now Brazil, from a blue collar guy from Michigan I’ve had a pretty full life and I’m the same age is Otis.

Thank you Otis for sharing this story. I’ve had similar things happen when turning the pages and changing chapters in my book of life. It’s so comforting to hear, that I’m not alone, and that you got through it all with a big smile on your face!
I had a move that was very similar to this where, when we got to our new town, we found out that our place to stay had fallen through. We had a U-Haul with all of our stuff and no home to put it in. We got though it but it was very stressful in the moment. I really liked your words of encouragement to Amy and am probably going to use that in one of my pep talks.
Great to see you Mr. Gibbs. I really appreciate your stories, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to entertain our curiosity about the music industry. ✌🏼&♥️ P.S. your move makes my move from Tampa to Tulsa sound tame. Selling your house can be a crap shoot. 😂
Was the couple next door to you in Nashville still living there when you moved back to IN? Excellent story about your move. Did you go up and play at the house you went to where cowboy jack was?
Quite the adventure, this thing called life. Thank you for the story and history. Give Amy an extra hug. Y'all are heroes in my book I kinda have to laugh because I'm headed back to my old stomping grounds for work and to help take care of the folks this weekend. Traveling light, as I intend to return when work picks up locally. Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍
Man I'm in the middle of a situation very similar to this because I'm about to put my house in Pittsburgh on the market and move to Asheville North Carolina with two cats no money all by myself. This UA-cam video needs a trigger warning😂❤
Hello Otis I've listened your story's quite a few times now different once I totally enjoy you you a good a great storytelling your voice is soothing right now it's afternoon 2:30 p.m. here in Colorado Springs Colorado sitting in my living room staring at Pikes Peak I come from a long line of guitar Pickers and singers you have a great day and keep up your channel I enjoy it you seem like a cool dude would like to hear you sing some of your song Someday maybe you at Play Somewhere out here in Colorado Springs if so let me know I'd be awesome anyway take care God bless Tim Colorado Springs Colorado.
About 16 years ago or so I said before I’m 40 I want to move to Franklin or Madison. That is still the goal realistically in the next few years. I’m shopping for more cities farther out east now because I don’t have a few million dollars laying around for a modest three bedroom house lol. Awesome video though. Helped me get through cooking dinner.
Wow - just for a minute I thought you were going to say your new neighbor had pulled one of those personalized house number plaques outta the trash with your name already on it!
Getting a dead car up on a dolly is a challenge! I had to get a dead Volkswagen jetta up on one to save a $250 tow bill to the dealer. Yeah, it had to go to the dealer. Gravity ended up being my enemy. Had to run out and get a tow rope, ratchet come-a-long, and called in late to work. Then I lost a section of chain off the bumper of my truck while driving up the interstate. If I had it to do over, I would have paid the $250 and given the guy a $50 tip.
Great stories! I haven’t laughed so hard in so long. Hahahaha I’m so sorry you and Amy went through those painful experiences but they are so so funny. 😂
I think I need to disagree with you this one time Otis… I believe that certain geological locations DO have their own mojo… maybe it’s the people who settle there..? Or something that I don’t understand about the actual world.. But Nashville sure does have some great talent..
A wonderful tale. Coincidence? I’m not so sure. Seems to me y’all wound up right where you were supposed to be. And those so called coincidences? Perhaps they weren’t coincidences at all. Of course, if one believes in such things. Especially a musician, who must rely on something much bigger than the tangible things. Perhaps the cosmos does indeed speak…if one believes in such things. Best,
We are all so lucky that you chose the roads you chose Otis! Thank you brother

Turn this story into a screenplay and movie.
Yes!
Best idea I’ve had all morning!
Or a cartoon
It is good but not that good.

Thanks for starting off my morning with a great story.
Thanks for sharing a great story. The Amy Gibbs thing was the kicker. There are a lot of interesting “coincidences” in this world.

Interesting fella, definitely the whole 60s vibe.
Being old enough to live through Era is probably a key component to understanding the vide.😉🤙

Moving stories can be tuff, but usually give you a lot of memories to look back on.🤙

Wow - just for a minute I thought you were going to say your new neighbor had pulled one of those personalized house number plaques outta the trash with your name already on it!
Did you get the Volvo fixed ?
That was one honest realtor in Indy…..generally they want to get their commission and move on to the next sale….
Great story! Thanks OG.

Coincidence? I was born on October 6.
👍☕️😉
You moved there a year before I did.
I live in Tennessee and you would not catch me dead or alive in Nashville.
I think I need to disagree with you this one time Otis… I believe that certain geological locations DO have their own mojo… maybe it’s the people who settle there..? Or something that I don’t understand about the actual world.. But Nashville sure does have some great talent..
Just so you know... i had my coffee
There's your title for the song... 2 cats and a litter box. You can't make this stuff up. Too funny....now. maybe not so much at the time.
A wonderful tale.
