The thing about many channels on UA-cam, even though we never meet, we come to think of those like yourself as friends. Because of that many of us, I'm sure, see the events like this as akin to an injury in the family. Take care of yourself Keith. At our age any injury can take longer than we expect to sort itself out.
Love Keith, but what you describe is a parasocial relationship. Natural, normal and often innocuous, but it can become a habit that makes us vulnerable to less scrupulous "influencers". We should continue to enjoy and support people who do good work and share, but also be aware of the social dynamics that lead to a lot of the junk that gets blamed on "the algorithm". That unsolicited mini-rant / PSA over, I hope Keith recovers soon and can fully get back to something he loves doing!
Glad you're on the mend. A little humor about my brother: he hurt his index finger and went to the local doc-n-a-box to get it looked after. A stitch or two fixed the problem. The nurse asked him how much sympathy did he want. He said "What do you mean?" She said she could put a band-aid on it or really wrap it up big time. He said he wanted a lot of sympathy so she wrapped it up so that it was twice as big as the finger. He milked it for all it was worth. Take care.
Thank you very much for the detailed update, you didn't have to do that but we appreciate it! Glad that it all turned out alright and nothing to lose sleep over.
I really like your home style personality. You come across so naturally with warmth and ease. It's like having Mr. Roger in an adult metal shop. Now, if only PBS would pick you up. All the best with healing.
Yay for 4-H, and for small town connections! And good for you for taking the time needed to heal. I'm with you: sitting around makes me crazy. But sometimes it's the thing to do. I follow folks on UA-cam who release videos only every few MONTHS. We can wait a week or two.
Thanks for taking the time to update us. I'm sure we (your viewers) all feel relieved that it's not as serious as it could have been. Enjoy your time off, please.
I’m 75 so your fall along with those of Jay Leno & Dennis Prager certainly has made me more conscious of my footing & keeping the floor cleared of tripping hazards. Sounds like the Doc gave you some good advice. I think light activity promotes healing.
Sure wish rapid recovery and can see your concern for the people who view your videos. Thank you for your investment in the machining community. Cheers
Hope you get well soon Keith. I learned a few years ago, the hard way, that the older you get the less you bounce and the more you go crunch. I look forward to your next video.
Sorry to hear of your injury, Keith, but relieved you have good medical care and are on the mend! Here's wishing you the very best for complete recovery.
Hi Keith, Fishing works with one hand. Hope you get some Catfish to put in the skillet. Please take your time to get healed up, you deserve the time off. Thank you for videos that help people. HAGD Alan
Keith, your health is most important! Get better, don't do anything stupid to your injury. Take a break. We can wait. We'll see you when you get ready.
Glad you’re doing better Keith. Who’da thought, with all the sharp and fast spinning tools that a fella has in his shop …. that it would be his yard that jumps up and bite him!!! A lesson to all of us to be careful everywhere. Thank you and take care.
Only giving this one a "THUMBS-UP" is because you're going to heal up in time . Be careful in the future, Keith - yard work is hazardous to your health! Glad you're going to pull through.
Heal quickly. Hey to Mike Wiggins, miss you Mike. Would love to see that new shop you showed us you were building. Hope you got your wish of a line shaft shop.
Glad you're doing better! I've had a couple of those things that sneak up on you when you least expect it too! Many years ago I was helping a neighbor change the clutch in his pickup. Long story short I was underneath putting the freshly machined flywheel on and it slipped, pinning my left hand to the trans crossmember. It also severed the middle finger extensor tendon right on top of the knuckle! Orthopedic surgeon put the tendon back together with a carbon-fiber suture. It took me almost a year to get 99% use of that hand again! About a year ago I took a fall in the house coming upstairs from my pantry to the kitchen with a can of soup! I slipped and fell, landing on the can and ripping my left forearm on top right below the elbow! Wound up getting three dozen stitches that time (estimated, we lost count)! Be careful!
Oh man. I was the one that posted that you should not put your head in between your casting and the shaper LOL . After watching your last video, I walked out to my shop to measure the window spacing so I could up date my CAD drawing. ( planing a new shop add on ) After I got what i needed I turned around and started to walk out of my shop and hit the ground. I caught my pants leg on a cotter pin that was on a vintage garden tractor front wheel. I only pulled my shoulder trying to catch my self. Man it bites getting Old. You take a well deserved brake and have a great new year.
I’m glad to hear you’re relatively OK. The last 15 minutes or so on the video is dead air. This would be a good time to do a Shop tour video. Get well. Look forward to your next video.
I'm glad your injury is not worse. Take care of yourself or you won't be able to return to what you love doing! I injured my left fingers doing tree work from a ladder last fall and fortunately my injury was not serious so I know how you feel.
Glad you’re doing so well. Bone(s) staying aligned is a critical factor in healing with minimal intervention. Right up there with taking it easy (ha!).
Glad that you're okay, glad it wasn't anything horrid, saw the video, look like you snapped that puppy in two.. Godspeed.. Speedy recovery. Always enjoy your videos.
take care Keith, every time you want to go do something remember that it is better to be quiet for a little while than a permanent hand problem, wish you a rapid recovery
Good to see you behind the camera after that. Looking forward to seeing you back at work when you’re feeling like it’s time. Take care Keith and prayers going up. Thanks for the update!
Very glad you are okay. Yes, living in a small town sometimes has it's perks. Very sorry to hear about your friend's injuries. It is never fun. The older we get, the harder it is to recover. Hubby fell down the back steps this morning. I'm watching him right now. I think he's okay, but I'm keeping an eye on him. Take care of yourself.
I was working putting wheels on one of my storage cabinets in the shop last week. I ended up getting tangled up in all the crap on the floor and fell. I landed on the cabinet, which promptly tipped over and both of us fell, then I hit the welding table, got spun over and hit the floor. It felt like it would never end! luckily I wasn't hurt badly, but it was a good reminder of how fast things can go wrong in the shop or around the home. I'm glad you weren't hurt any worse!
We've enjoyed watching your skilled work single handed in the shop. Now we might get a glimpse of your talent with one hand tied behind your back! 😂 Seriously, please take time to heal. The videos can wait!
Keith you take care of yourself and get healed up. We’ll wait for the videos. Prayers for all our UA-cam family and friends. Time to clean and organize the shop. One handed. lol
Glad you're okay. I'm 76 and recovering from shoulder surgery. I sympathize with you. It's extremely difficult to stay out of my shop! I love your videos and I know you'll be back at it as soon as you can!
Glad it wasn't any worse, take care of yourself and take it easy, have a restful week.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Keith.
Better slowly but careful recovery

I’m 75 so your fall along with those of Jay Leno & Dennis Prager certainly has made me more conscious of my footing & keeping the floor cleared of tripping hazards. Sounds like the Doc gave you some good advice. I think light activity promotes healing.
