I love all these books, but it’s nice to hear the different opinions from different colorists. I didn’t realize how many people didn’t like Menagerie until I posted my flip through. I loved it when I saw it and was in awe of her imagination. There were just a couple that I couldn’t see myself coloring, but I loved the majority of it. Thanks for sharing!! ☺️❤️
I love most of the images in Menagerie too! There are a few that I know I will never color but I love most of them so that's ok! It's common to have a few pages in a book that don't appeal to me. Except for Joseph Catimbang's work, I love ALL of the images in his books! I'm a HUGE fan of his work!
I love Fabiana Attanasio. She's one of my favorite artists. However, I'm not a fan of her mythographic books. 🤷🏽♀️I was eyeing Joseph Catimbang mythographic books, and I recently got wild winter for my birthday. 🤸🏽♀️ I'm super happy with it. It does look intimidating, but looking at odyssey by him, I think I agree with you about it being so much line work to try and interpret and color. Voyage looks good and not overwhelming. I think that's why I gravitated to wild winter more so than the other books of his. It seems like "less" I haven't colored in wild winter at the time of me writing this message, but I hope to soon. Menagerie weirds me out because I don't like holes, and plants growing out of people or animals. 😂 I enjoyed seeing your favorite pages, and hearing your opinions. I look forward to seeing a completed pages in any of these from you. Take care, tfs👋🏼
@@amberlesilencia3728 I have both voyage and wild winter and I have a hard time telling which one is my favorite although I think I lean more towards wild winter.
Just in case anyone is looking for ideas for how to cover up the hidden objects, I got the idea from Shelly from Shel's colouring journey to use the Windsor and Newton white ink to go over the hidden objects. It doesn't give opaque coverage but I usually do 2 layers, letting it dry between the layers. And for the ones that cover part of the image I use a Micron pen to draw in the black lines myself. That can be challenging when it's not just simple straight lines but once you color the page and it's finished it really isn't noticeable unless you look closely. I don't bother with the Mythographic books that have hidden objects very often though, because I am very slow at coloring and it already takes me forever to finish a page, so covering up the hidden objects just makes it take that much longer! But I do have all of Joseph Catimbang's books and I don't mind coloring in the ones with hidden objects because he at least tries to make the hidden objects fit with the image. I really love Wild Winter, I don't even cover up the hidden objects in Joseph's books!
Oh yes, I also love his new book so extremely much! I can't stop looking through it and I can see myself coloring many of those images and having a lot of fun. His older books were too overwhelming, soo small in details and just too many lines over all. But this new book is a dream! A big love! I should write down the name of the plant, so that I don't forget for next time I want to say something about this page 😀Thank you.
I somehow don't like the fabiana ones as much even though I loved her fairytale books. I don't know. So I don't have any of the ones done by her. I like one or two pictures from the paradise and garden books, but not enough to get them. I have the Imagine and Animals one by Joseph, the very first from the series and disliked the hidden objects so much that I didn't get any more books. I will get the voyage one though one day because as you said it's much less overwhelming. Thanks for showing your books!

Yeah, the Menagerie is a bit special. I have to admit, that Voyage is much more beautiful! I'm also very excited, that they leave out the hidden objects. Somehow, this completely stopped me from working in them.
would you change the image at times? with the puffins and their hands for example? I would go over it with a white marker and a sharpie and just change the design before colouring it in.
Hi Irene, thanks for getting in contact. And sorry for the late response! Hmm, if I would go over with white in order to change something I don't like in a picutre? I'm not quite sure. I haven't done it so far. I have thought about it once, for example, there was an image, a portrait with a third eye. I liked it, but I don't like the third eye. But in the end I didn't color it yet. So, I'm not quite sure.

Hehehe, ja so geht es mir auch oft. Ich denke, ach es kann nichts passieren, ich brauche keine neuen Bücher. Aber dann sieht man doch wieder eins, wo man denkt, das muss ich haben. Also, wenn du mal ein Buch aus dieser Serie ausprobieren willst, starte auf jeden Fall mit einem der 2 Neuen ohne die versteckten Gegenstände. Das wird auf jeden Fall zugänglicher sein, denke ich. Ich kann es kaum noch abwarten etwas in diesen 2 neuen Büchern auszumalen. Und es fällt mir schwer mich für eine Seite zu entscheiden. Und in welchem Buch soll man anfangen? Sie sind beide so toll! Mir fällt es generell einfacher in Büchern zu malen, in denen ich bereits gemalt habe. Ich mag es auch einfach mehrere ausgemalte Bilder in einem Buch zu haben und letztendlich mag ich ja i.d.R. sehr viele Bilder in ein und denselben Buch. Zum Beispiel von Hanna Karlzon habe ich bestimmt 7 Bücher, aber nur in einem der Bücher habe ich gemalt. Und ich greife immer wieder zu diesem, obwohl ich die anderen auch super toll finde. Aber mein Plan ist ja, dieses Jahr zumindest mal noch in The Witches Cottage anzufangen, was auszumalen. Drück mir die Daumen, dass es klappt! 😀 Was malst du gerade?

Was für ein Zusammenfall mit Ausmalen-Philosophie :)) mit Hanna male ich gerade im ersten und zweiten Buch, und auch im blauen - die anderen warten mit Umgeduld 😅 Gestern habe ich ein Bild aus Fairytopia CH bei MysticArt Mirrors bis zum Ende ausgemalt, und werde ein Buch von Jasmine Beckett Griffith nehmen, aber eher etwas aus den kleinen Bildern, nicht so ängstlich zu beginnen 😅😅 An deiner stelle würde ich mit Menagerie beginnen, es sieht so aus, dass du dort echt viele Bilder magst, und danke für den Tipp - falls ich kaufe, dann bestimmt die letzten zwei 🌹

Those 2 new books without the hidden objects, are strongly calling me. Since I've got them, I can not stop looking through them and I have some images in each book, which I want to start coloring. And I want to do it now! 😀 My only problem is, that I need to finish some other images first. But I think, I will at least start one of those books very soon. So, how many you are missing from Hannah Karlzon? I don't have them all, but I have quite a few of them. I'm also enjoying Hannah Karlzon lately quite a bit. I think in her books, we can play and pratice with mixed mediums and have a lot of fun. I'm eager to start the witches cottage soon. But want to finish 2 images from Magical Dawn first. *lol* I always have a started WIP, that is keeping me from diving into "new" books.
@@amberlesilencia3728 Do it, do it now, start it all hahah :p kidding, as much as I have multiple projects [more than it is reasonable] going when it comes to cross stitch, when it comes to colouring, I personally don't like to have many starts, usually I will work on one image/page until I finish it completely ;) I am missing Grains of Gold, Tales from the Midnight Masquerade, Summer Nights [these are actually coming in today though yaaay] and Tales from the Witch's Cottage, which I did order but since it was not amazon [for some reason this one shows as not even yet released on Amazon, with release date sometime in august? O_o], I have to wait for it to be dispatched from independent shop, but hoping it be here by end of the week or very beginning of the next one, and then my collection is complete as far as I am aware ;) also waiting for the new Johanna Basford book to be released, and also want to treat myself to her 2023 calendar/organizer book, I get something every year, never even though about getting one that I can also colour in ;) ... question is where will I staff it all lol
