If I'm not mistaken, Agassi is the only man to achieve a "Career Super Slam" (winning the four Grand Slam tournaments, an Olympic gold medal, the Davis Cup and the ATP World Tour Finals). What a legend he was.
he was in 15 total GS (won 8) which is 8 less than how many Djokovic has just wins
And his wife won the super calendar slam (all GS and olympic gold in the same year). What a family 😅
Is the only one. Djokovic will have a last chance at Paris next year. Davis Cup doesnt count here, tho
@Milorad Djurdjic Rafa has 1 less grand slam than Joker as 2 of the 4 GS are played on hard court which is favorable to joker imagine it would be 2 GS on clay like earlier and no excuses on the injury to the left hander who was not there when joker had no challege by a top player.
Roger Federer has done this, albeit the Olympic gold medal was in doubles, but he still has technically won all of these, if not in singles
And now Nadal is older than Agassi was in this match 🤯 Time really does fly. And like Agassi here, Nadal will soon be heading for the exit. We never know what we had until it's gone, do we?
Such a youth can be young no longer. People don’t realize what they have until it’s gone.
Rafa will play and dominate 2024. Knowing him if he wins RG 24 at least injury free he might plan for a 2025 season. 🤞 🙏🏻
@@ruckfules9441 si no estuviera djokovic te lo firmo, a nadal solo le basta estar bien fisicamente y recuperar sensaciones
That’s about the truth!
Little did Agassi know, that he was in the presence of a bloke who would go on to become one of the greatest legends of this beautiful game.
he knew, because Rafa at such young age was already the winner of two consecutives Roland Garros + he saw here that Rafa could play on grass
@@jaimejack0282 too bad Rafa didn’t get to experience the full Agassi “legs experience”. His side movement was notoriously hindered both times they met.
@@BrunoSilvaRox that's true, how beautiful it would be a prime Agassi vs a young Nadal
@BrunoSilvaRox Agassi from the late 90's would've won for sure. Although the grass was slower here mabye it would've been quite close if both were playing well
lame remark
Agassi was really that bridge from old classic tennis to modern tennis, amazed at how his game stood up at end of his career
I’d argue his game style was much more modern than classic. The only thing remotely classic in his game was his forehand technique imo
@@keeganandersson4281 agreed, meant more from a time standpoint, i remember reading about agassi in the 80's in Tennis magazine when he was teen phenom with the wild hair, neon clothes etc.. He played Lendl & Mcenroe early in his career!
Id say Sampras is more of a bridge from classic to modern, perhaps Becker as well, since they are serve-and-volleying+grinding at baselone
The physcal of the players of 90's were much underdeveloped compared to this new generation of players. Nowadays they are super athletes.
I think his game was a bit more modern I think that’s why he had so much success in the Federer era. And he was pretty consistent against players like Roddick, Hewitt, and Safin, Sampras struggled against players like Safin and Hewitt. I think because of Agassi’s attacking game and because of his baseline style play he was able to play much better against players like that, while on the other hand samples serve and volley style didn’t quite hold up as well. I guess he was still consistently making it to the quarters and semis and even the finals of tournaments in his midto late 30s. He became if I’m not mistaken besides Ken Rosewall the oldest man in the open era to make it to a grand slam final after 2005 U.S. Open at 35 years old.
It was fitting that Andre's farewell was at the hands of a future legend like Rafa. The best should retire against the best. And the sheer admiration in Rafa's eyes at the embrace was a sight of class recognising class!
This was only his last match at Wimbledon, he retired at the US Open.
His last match was a loss to the smaller b Becker where he was washed out after a close win in the previous round
@@Monteray9Doesn't matter. A last match at Wimbledon is a farewell.. Considering the history and grandeur of this tournament.
Agassi ended McEnroe's Wimbledon career in '92 in much the same way.
Everything about Rafa was just so unique and different, the style of play, the outfits, the haircut, the celebrations. The people’s player ❤! I miss that jump he used to make before a banana shot
Yeah the exact reason why i liked him the most
Very unique
Por eso no me grado nunca ese señor Nadal todo lo que decís lo veía como soberbio y no me grada eso
He was something special. Too bad this version of Nadal died later on.
If only we could enjoy Tennis like this with no goat debate activated by both media & toxic fans! ❤
Exactly. So toxic. For me there are many GOATS and for people to ignorantly declare there's 1 with so many different circumstances and factors at play, is not what the sport is about
Couldn't agree more. Every tennis post these days is flooded with people repeating the word goat as if they were parrots, extremely tiring.
@@CarmoniusFinsnickeri its with all sports...
Nadal is spectacular at just 19. Super strong core and legs to be able to hit those running shots with both spin and pace.
Gosh I still love watching Andre’s backhand. So efficient.
MAN!!!😍
Also Nalbandian's in the mix
It's such an awesome move, I love seeing him play !
Agassi took every shot very early and accurately. But Rafa moved so quickly to save lots of points.
Agassi..... What a player 🙌🏻
My fav players, Agassi and Rafael
✔️
Me too! 😊
Let's be honest - there have been, there are and there will be many players capable of producing such shots and such plays. What makes these two men all-time greats is the ability to play at that level not only for a whole match or even a whole tournament, but for many many years.
Mr. Agassi ... the man, the legend. A wonderful ambassador for this great sport of tennis.
By that year 2006 Andre Agasssi is like a ghost from the past.
He won Wimbledon in 1992.14 years before this Match.
All his contemporaries were retired and some might even be dead 😊
That is one thing I really appreciate about Agassi, the fact that he continued to push on a play into his mid to late 30’s. It really allowed for these great inter generational matchups. It’s a shame he didn’t get another shot at Nadal on a fast hardcourt.
agassi had been nursing a back injury in his last 2 years. he was handicapped in this match besides his age. a prime andre would have won this match.
Agassi was 36 years old in 2006, same age than Nole is today winning slams. The physcal of the players of 90's were much underdeveloped compared to this new generation of players. Nowadays they are super athletes.
We will never forget how Andre Agassi changed Tennis forever.
Wow never knew this match happen ! Agassi was a beast is backand is out of this world
Nadal and Agassi had a good match in Montreal masters as well. Think it was in 2005.
Man!!! I agree!!!
If Agassi would have more physcal robustness would have great chance to beat Nadal. The point is that the players of 90's were much underdeveloped compared to this new generation of players. Nowadays they are super athletes.
@@fernandocesar6626I don’t think that’s true Agassi was an great athlete but his back was done.
He had some type of condition and the wear and tear of his career didn’t help.
This was the best version of Nadal. He was a threat on every surface, not just clay. This 20 years old Nadal is also much better than any young player today.
This departure made me cry again...... Agassi was a Legend!
He was such a great champion and a lovely guy. I miss him, and 90s Tennis badly. 😢😢😢
Aggasi One of the all time great entertainers .
Loved watching Andre Agassi 🎾❤️ He is a tennis legend and has cemented his place in history. His Autobiography was one of the best! Both he and Steffi were two of my favourite players watching growing up.
What a player Agassi was 😳
Missing both of these two champion, two of my favorites ❤
✔️
nadals passing shots and defense was stupidly good
A forgotten gem of a match. Wonderful to see the clash in styles and generations.
What a great last match to have for Agassi!
Agassi what Legend !!
Nadal phenomenon
This Nadal guy was quite good.
Andre played very well👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Except from his two spikes in 1993 and 1997 due to injuries, Andre Agassi was a consistent Top 10 Player from 1988 to 2005!! What a legend he was. Sampras - Agassi - the best rivalry in tennis history.
Even 15 years ago Rafael Nadal played very well! I like this tennis match because two legends were playing with each other! It was unbelievable match that I have ever seen!
This is actually 18 years ago! And Rafa was already established as the number two player behind Federer by then - he reached his first Wimbledon final this year.
Nadal definitely got one of the most unique styles in the history of tennis players with a left hand and even the history of tennis itself. ❤🔥🔥🎾
Wow,this Agassi guy plays much better than the nextgen.
If Agassi would have more physcal robustness would have great chance to beat Nadal. The point is that the players of 90's were much underdeveloped compared to this new generation of players. Nowadays they are super athletes.
Andre classy confident cool nobody will ever do it better ✅🙏🏾
Agassi is playing very well,👌 they are both my favourite players. But Rafa He's an idol 🔥🇪🇦
Andre Agassi’s backhand was unbelievable! Short, sweet takeback and explosive contact.
Best returner, Best down liner.
GORGEOUS RAFA!!!!!!:) VAMOS SWEETHEART!!!!!!!:)
and now its Nadal's final season, two fantastic player!
Anyone who still pro at that age is incredible...Agassi was truly one the the GOAT tennis players
Agassi had the cleanest strikes in tennis.
In Steffi Graf's own words: "Agassi's double-handed backhand looks ugly"- but nevertheless, powerful. Nobody hits corners precisely like Agassi. Nadal's depth of hitting the baseline is awesome. What a match!
Grafs just being mean. She had a great slice backhand but rarely drove the ball (the opposite of her fella)
@@martinhudecek8886Her backhand was a weakness.
Agassi has one of the most beautiful two handed backhands of all time.
His backhand wasn't that bad, but her own backhand topspin groundstrokes were hideous
Rafa was 2 sets down and 2 points from defeat the round before this match. I wonder if Agassi was thinking "Man I could have played a qualifier but instead I have to play Rafa...."...how close was this meeting to never happening at Wimbledon. Agassi could have gone further had Robert Kendrick pulled off the upset. At the same time Agassi was really close to winning the first set.
Still what a great career for Andre.
Agassi's body was breaking down by this point, so he was playing more to say goodbye. I'm sure he still wanted to win, but losing to Nadal was a memorable way to go out.
@@ER1CwC Thats true I guess. Great career for him though.
He might’ve beaten Kendrick but no way he holds up physically for the whole event. He beat Baghdatis at the USO a couple months later but had nothing left in the next round.
We can definitely see that Andre still had the game and moved very well for his age. Just that he couldn't handle Nadal and his youth. I believe that's going to be the very same for Nadal and Djokovic now in their late 30s, moving from here on. They're the GOATs of the sport so they'll obviously know what to do to win the match, but time waits for none. They won't be able to handle the youth and strength of Alcaraz and Sinner and fail as time goes on. Forever a Rafa fan!
2 of the classiest champions
球場悍將vs 不敗老手 兩個人激烈競爭 非常難得雙方都是網壇金滿貫傳奇人物
Agassi should be taught as a case study to the lost next gen of Kyrgios, Tsitsipas and Zverev etc.
If Agassi were to be playing today, he'd still be ranked in the top 5.
Despite all the advantages players have now, Agassi, at his best, if transported to current times, would be fighting Djokovic and Alcaraz (Nadal as well if he comes back strong) for titles. He'd probably prefer tennis right now than when he played.
Yes but the same can not be said of Sampras, Agassi played in an era (especially his early career) dominated by big servers. I don’t see Sampras winning anything apart from Wimby if he played today but Agassi would have big chances in the rest 3.
@@rishabhaniket1952 Agassi had a game that would better fit today's environment. I feel a lot of his game could remain intact but physically he'd be able to benefit from improvements in sports science etc.
The whole tennis environment was different. Sampras was better suited to his time than Agassi was. Sampras, unlike Agassi, would probably need to completely switch up his equipment and change his game, improve his backhand, and so on. He'd likely end up something like Federer if he were able to do it, given how similar they played when Fed was very young, like during their encounter at Wimbledon.
Andre Agassi was a gracious loser in 2006,😊
I love Agassi but he would struggle to stay top 10 now. The difference in power and speed across the men's game is monumental
El revés cruzado de Agassi era una maravilla
Rafael ❤❤❤❤
Agassi pudo jugar con todas las grandes leyendas..
Both are legends! ❤
Not really. Nadal is just a good player but not agassi caliber
凄い戦いだった!
特に、ナダルが凄過ぎる✨
I was never an Agassi fan. It's interesting to see Nadal play Wimbledon, then and now.
Goes to show how absurdly gifted a ball striker Agassi was, his last Wimbledon, almost last match in career due to a bad back which hampered his already less than stellar movement and serve, STILL gave Nadal a tough match at 35yo.
Ashamed we never could see these 2 in their prime against each other.
andre was 36 here. yeah he was playing with a bad back in his last 2 years. he would have won both his matches against nadal (this and the montreal final) if it wasn’t for the injury.
Bro Agassi literally played the USO final after his first match vs Nadal in Canada. Whatever injury he had then, didn't stop him from playing a major final just 2 weeks after his loss vs Nadal.@@arisadriano1544
Andre👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Crazy that first point how early Agassi was able to guess where Nadal is serving to
My all time favourite player
agassi taking ball early on backhand into rafa forehand. if only agassi was younger, he would teach this rafa a lesson
アガシのバックハンド好き
Nadal was just too good. He basically was zoning until he played Federer.
*or Djokovic.
@@toddjohnson271 I was talking about 2006 Wimbledon. Federer destroyed him in the finals.
The cleaning of Agassi's shot's was astonishing....
was hoping they would show his speech.
Love Agassi's hair cut.
Passing of the torch
My two favorite!
man , wimby has the best yt channel !!!
Why this is satisfying?
Tennis in Lifetime childhood Thinking
Agassi was far more entertaining than Sampras to watch that robot.
When 36 year olds face actual competition from younger players rather than Ruud, Fritz, Tsitsipas etc
Palo y palo desde fondo ,en el pasto de la catedral del tenis 🎾 👌
this Nadal would defeat any version of djokovic
Even Djokovic From Last year final would beat any grass Nadal. Not to mention 2011 2015 Novak would destroy anybody.
Always loved Agassi, preferred him to Sampras. Andre was much more likeable.
Wow!
He was quite good
Great reaction speed!
4:23 - wow.
1:11 Agassi plays the perfect point tactically vs the Nadal forehand and gets passed anyway to lose it
Never bet against Rafa's backhand
Please give us 90s Agassi
Wow how time flies....its now 2024 and this year its Nadals time to bow out at wimbledon (if he plays) 🥲
I'm glad Rafa carried on Andre's legacy of colorful kits, wimbledon aside.
That match was beFORE the rule change which made players play at a decent pace. Nadal was notorious for taking his time between points. Well, Agassi was one of the fastest in between plays on the tour at the time. He believed in serving the ball pretty quick after points had ended. He was getting frustrated at the slow pace of Nadal. So, at one point, he SITS DOWN in a linesman's chair by the side of the court while Nadal was toweling off. It was hilarious. It didn't help him, though. Nadal won.
Love the Generation Match Ups..
This one 15 Years 10 Months Apart..
Amazing From 2006 - 2022..
Only ( 3 ) New Players Have Won Mens Singles Wimbledon Titles..
Since 2000 2022 - Only ( 7 ) Players Have Won Mens Singles Wimbledon Title..
Unlike NBA and boxing, there's no refs to determine the outcome, it's pure fight and these 2 players got the fight
Was this sped up? It looks very fast
Tennis fans are toxic these days. They have forgotten how to just enjoy playing tennis and be happy that they get to experience something like this at this time.
Djokovic fans are toxic, most everyone else sits back and enjoys the game and the incredible tennis that was produced in the last 30 years.
the tennis is so different
Super Agassi ❤❤❤❤
how is this pretty much 1080p but we cant get a clip from the 2011 tourney that doesnt look like it was filmed in 1990
Funny Raffa will be doing the same next year, we have been privaligd to see such greatness for me beign 54, my idol Lendl, Sampras, Nadal. The rest were ok too, lol.
Look at the shots they're hitting! And Fed had to beat both of them during his prime. Hard to say it was a weak era...
the last 5 years have been the weakest era by far. no competitions just djokovic. his numbers are inflated. the young players are mentally weak and nadal is always injured. let’s hope alcaraz wimbledon triumph would inspire the other players to step up.
A passing of the torch metaphor. What is it about today's men's circuit vs the big three? Obviously pure skills abound, but does it trully come down to mental toughness? Maybe it's selective bias, but it seems every video of Medvedev or Tsitspias (sp?) has them having some mental breakdown or tantrum. Competitive fire or immaturity?
7:43 when the topspin is just too much
Imagine Rafa leaving the court and nobody trying to get his autograph...
Un grand Agassi face un un pimpant Nadal tout frais plein d'envie.
Agassi always had such a short stride. Legend
UA-cam is hallucinogenic time bend. Fast forward and Nadal is now Agassi, and Alcaraz is Nadal.
Imagine if Federer, Nadal and Djokovic played during the Becker, Edberg, Rafter, Sampras, Lendl, Courier, Stich, Chang, Goran, Bruguera era, they wouldn't have won that many grand slams they are winning now. edit: and agassi too
What?!?! Prime Nadal, djokovic, federer would destroy those guys 😂 they're lucky they played in an era without the big 3
so true
There's no point in comparing. They can only ever be judged on how they did against their opposition. These hypotheses can never be proven..
No way those mostly unathletic slow players would do well against the big 3
@@jayp123sampras might not have 14 but on those fast courts sampras would be able to defeat all 3 and at the least the matches against Federer would be real close
1:40. That's an amazing pass, but that's also why the grass should be sped up a bit. Come on guys. Reward the attacker. I don't want to see counterpunching winning points on grass.
Lo más normal es que gane el más joven, hay mucha diferencia de edad
Meanwhile Djokovic beats Alcaraz who is 16 years younger than him...
En estos días no es nada normal. Ni Nadal ni Djokovic se dejan ganar por los más jóvenes.
does anybody know, who are the oldest players which played against djokovic, nadal and federer? did nadal play against someone who was born in '60s?
federer played sampras once and agassi a few times. nadal never met sampras and only played agassi twice.
